Britain’s Richest Man Interested In Taking Over Chelsea From Roman Abramovich

Britain's Richest Man Interested In Taking Over Chelsea From Roman Abramovich

The Mirror claims that British Billionaire, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to gain ownership of the football club from Roman Abramovich.

The man who made his fortune through the founding of petrochemicals company, Ineos is thought to have held initial talks with the Russian regarding a potential sale.

Ratcliffe is currently listed as the richest man in all of Britain with an estimated net worth of £21b. He is looking to move into the sporting sector and has already brought the rights to Team Sky.

He also owns a Swiss football club named FC Lausanne-Sport, the one who has won the Swiss Cup 9 times. However, the business mogul is not content with his modest investments and is ready to make his mark on the big leagues.

The 66-year-old grew up to be a fan of Manchester United but now owns season tickets at the Stamford Bridge. With Roman Abramovich’s pull at the South West London reduced due to the entire saga with his visa, Ratcliffe has extended an offer to take the club off the Russian’s hands.

However, Abramovich’s £2.5b asking price is far too steep for Ratcliffe since a purchase would be followed by a lot of extra payments, including the cost of expanding the Stamford Bridge.

Sarri to be sacked during the international break

0

According to reports from the Express, Chelsea could sack Maurizio Sarri during the international break. The Blues suffered a 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park last evening and their top four hopes have taken a huge hit.

This is Chelsea’s second winless result in a row as they barely escaped a defeat to Wolves 8 days back. Chelsea are now 6th in the Premier League table, three points behind the top four. They still have a fair chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season if they end the Premier League in the top four of if they win the Europa League.

Chelsea’s performances in the Europa League is perhaps what has saved Sarri from the sack as of now. However, their results in the last 7-8 weeks cannot be overlooked. Hence, the Chelsea board is contemplating sacking Sarri during the international break which begins soon.

There have been several reports linking Sarri to the sack ever since Chelsea lost 6-0 to Manchester City. However, it seems unlikely that the board will sack him this season. The only thing that can save Sarri right now is if Chelsea win the Europa League. The draw has been kind enough to hand Chelsea Slavia Prague in the quarter-finals. Provided they do qualify, Chelsea will meet either of Eintracht Frankfurt or Benfica in the semi-finals.

Chelsea next face Cardiff City on the 31st.

Maurizio Sarri Blames Chelsea Players For 2-0 Loss To Everton

Maurizio Sarri is not entirely willing to take responsibility for Chelsea’ 2-0 loss to Everton this past weekend.

It was a massive loss for the Blues in terms of qualifying for the Champions League. They could have easily gained an advantage over both Arsenal and Manchester United in the top-four race but are now 3 points behind the qualification berth.

Speaking to Skysports after the match, the Italian manager emphasized the fact that his tactics were not to be blamed and it was the players who were greatly unimpressive on the pitch.

He was quoted when asked why his team lost – “I don’t know. The player don’t know what happened. At the moment I don’t really explain the change. We played, in my opinion, the best first half of the season. We could have scored four or five times. Suddenly we stopped to play. It’s very strange.”

“We stopped to defend, to counter-attack, to everything. We had only to continue, I think. We were in control of the match. We played very well and needed to continue. at the beginning of the second half, we didn’t play. It’s strange. I cannot understand.”

“Tactically, if you don’t play, you don’t play. We changed the system but it was the same. It’s very difficult but I think the problem was mental. If you have a mental problem suddenly on the pitch, the system, the tactics is not enough.”

“No, it was not at all [that we lacked motivation], we started the match very well with big intensity and strong mentality, I don’t know what happened.”

Chelsea Midfield Star Speaks On His Position Desire At The Club

Chelsea Midfield Star Speaks On His Position Desire At The Club

Chelsea midfield Ruben Loftus-Cheek has revealed his wish to play as a number eight on the pitch in the near future. The player has been used both in the midfield and on the wings by manager Maurizio Sarri and has done well in both positions. However, he himself has the desire to represent the club in the midfield at the highest level.

Speaking on the club’s official website, the player said, “We had a chat and I told him [Sarri] that eventually I want to be a midfielder and he respects that. I do see myself as a no.8, to get up and down. Earlier in your career you want to play anywhere, you are pleased just to play. Wherever I play I will do my best and against Kiev I was in midfield so it was perfect for me to get some fitness in my legs.”

He added, “That is life at a top football club, there are going to be top players and it improves you much more. You have to hold your own in training and rise to that level mentally. That is my approach to it.”

The young ace has also been named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers. Speaking about that, he said, ‘Gareth Southgate knows me well from the World Cup and before that with England Under-21s and I am grateful I have been called up again, to represent my country is massive for me.’

Spanish football expert says how Chelsea could sign Real Madrid star

0

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes if Chelsea are to sign Gareth Bale, it would be in exchange for Eden Hazard. Both Bale and Hazard have been linked to Chelsea and Real Madrid respectively.

There has been a lot of talk regarding Eden Hazard’s future at Chelsea for a while now. Hazard’s current contract at Chelsea expires in 2020 and Chelsea are reportedly negotiating a new contract with Hazard. Some reports also claim that Real Madrid have contacted Chelsea regarding Hazard’s transfer.

Balague believes that Real Madrid could offer Bale in exchange to rope in Hazard. He said, “If Chelsea had the possibility of signing Bale it would be a swap with [Eden] Hazard and I expect all that to appear in the equation. But I feel Bale doesn’t want to leave. Bale would like to stay at Real Madrid. But he will also have to show that he is in love with the game again enough to improve and challenge himself and get to the level we know he can be.”

A Bale-Hazard swap could probably be the best way for both clubs to rope in their transfer targets. However, there are a few factors that could prevent this. Firstly, there is the possibility of Bale staying at Real Madrid as he could be back to his very best under Zinedine Zidane. Secondly, Chelsea’s transfer ban could prevent Bale moving to the club.

Zinedine Zidane returned to Real Madrid and has helped his team to a victory immediately. However, one key decision he took was to bench Thibaut Courtois. The Chelsea fans were ecstatic about it and here is what Zizou had to say.

“Today Keylor played, and Thibaut will play too, and we have Luca [Zidane] as third keeper,” he said after the game, as reported by Marca. Luca Zidane is the Real manager’s son.

“Madrid need two, three, four great keepers. Nobody here, or anywhere, can take away what these players have done here. I have a squad of 23, 24, 25 players and will count on them all.

“Thibaut [Courtois] and [Sergio] Reguilon have done well until now, others too. But at same time Keylor is very good, Marcelo too, Isco too. I must count on these players as they are good players, but I will count on them all.”

After a disastrous February, Chelsea have had an upturn in their form. The Blues beat Tottenham and have qualified for the last eight of the Europa League and are likely to progress further.

Their performances have become better as they are now more defensively organized and the players are better in shape while defending without the ball. However, their boss Sarri remains unconvinced with the team’s ability to attack and his players’ off the ball movement in the offensive phase.

‘Sometimes we’ve played with very good quality in the offensive phase, and sometimes not,’ said Sarri. ‘We started to defend in a very good way in the last month, I think. ‘Now we need to start in the offensive phase to play every match with the same ideas.’

‘At the moment, we are not able to do this because, sometimes, we are without movement without the ball ‘Sometimes we didn’t put the ball into the box very well, or attack the spaces behind the opponents’ back-line very well. ‘We need to have consistency on this.’

Chelsea are due to play Everton this Sunday and will look to collect all three points after a disappointing draw to Wolves last week.
