Chelsea signs Charlton Athletic midfielder Mason Burstow ahead of the January transfer deadline

Chelsea has signed Charlton Athletic striker Mason Burstow on the final day of the winter transfer season, according to the Daily Mail. The teenager will spend the rest of the season at Charlton Athletic, who play in League One.

Chelsea had a quiet January, with no notable new players coming through the Stamford Bridge doors as we enter February. However, it appears that they have finally entered the transfer market in order to sign a bright young player.

Burstow joins the Stamford Bridge club after making a strong start to life in the senior team at Charlton this season, scoring with his first touch in professional football. So far, the 1.87m tall youth has six goals in 14 appearances for the Addicks in all competitions.

Charlton head coach Johnnie Jackson acknowledged Chelsea’s offer for Burstow, claiming that the player will spend the balance of the season on loan at The Valley despite a transfer to the Blues.

With Ben Chilwell ruled out for the season due to injury, we appear to have focused on signing Burstow, who appears to be a long-term commitment. The 18-year-old has the potential to be a valuable asset to us in the future years.
