Former PSG Manager Emerges As Surprise Contender To Replace Maurizio Sarri

Laurent Blanc has emerged as a surprise contender to replace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

Sarri’s dynasty is on the brink of a crash following Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United in the FA Cup. Chelsea owners and other top level officials had a meeting discussing Sarri’s future and have agreed to provide the Italian with some more time to keep his job.

The next one week could be very vital in deciding his fate as the Blues have three crucial matches starting with Malmo on Thursday in the Europa league. They will then travel to Wembley in a quest to lift their first trophy in the EFL Cup final and to do that they need to get the better of Manchester City.

Sarri could breathe a sigh of relief as his side is supposed to host Tottenham Hotspur on next Thursday and good results in these matches would hand him a much needed lifeline in this sack race.

Blanc could have succeeded Antonio Conte but lost out to Sarri. But the French man is back in the reckoning and could join the club immediately if needed as he has been without a job since leaving Paris Saint Germain three years ago.

Chelsea Make Enquiries About €40m Eden Hazard Replacement

According to Turkish Football, Chelsea have questioned AS Roma about their rising star, Cengiz Under.

Various other reports claim that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are also gunning for the 21-year-old’s signature. The Blues understandably will have to join the race with a concrete offer since their London rivals, Arsenal have already seen a bid worth €30m get rejected.

Under has burst into life this season with 6 goals and 9 assists in 25 appearances across all competitions. He has showcased his potential to become a star figure in the European top-flight.

As per the reports, Chelsea are currently looking at potential targets to serve as a replacement for their best player, Eden Hazard. The Belgian has been predicted to leave the Stamford Bridge this summer for the reigning European champions, Real Madrid.

While the Blues have gotten themselves a head start by signing Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund this past month, they fear the loss of Champions League football for a second consecutive season will ensure Hazard’s departure from the club.

Under could be brought to also add some more dynamism to the Chelsea offensive line. In all honesty, Pedro can never be more than a decent squad player and Willian has hit his ceiling as a footballer.

According to reports in Italy, Chelsea are among the first clubs who have contacted Inter Milan over Mauro Icardi. The other clubs are Real Madrid, Juventus and Napoli.

Mauro Icardi’s performances for the Nerazzurri have severely dipped lately. The strikers hasn’t scored a single goal in his last seven Serie A games. Subsequently, Inter Milan stripped him of the captaincy and dropped him from the squad to face Rapid Wien in the Europa League.

The Argentine striker also missed last weekend’s match against Sampdoria.

Chelsea fans started celebrating Icardi’s axing from the captaincy, thinking that this was an indication that he was leaving the club.

Chelsea have shown interest in Mauro Icardi for a long time now. Now, the Blues are more eager than ever to sign Icardi. Chelsea need a top-quality striker and Icardi has proven himself to be one of the finest strikers in Europe in the past couple of years.

However, the other clubs will also give Chelsea tough competition to sign Icardi.

Arsenal legend makes an astonishing claim about Wenger and Chelsea

Arsenal legend David Seaman says that Arsene Wenger would be great as Chelsea manager

Arsenal legend David Seaman says Arsene Wenger would be a great shout for the next Chelsea manager, but concedes that it is unlikely to happen.

Wenger left Arsenal at the end of the 2017/18 season and still hasn’t involved himself in any job. Though the Frenchman has been linked with quite a few clubs for various jobs, starting from manager to director of football.

There is one manager who is under immense pressure – Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea. The Italian arrived last summer but things haven’t gone in his way and the team is struggling in all facets of their game.

The former Napoli boss may get sacked if the Blues lose the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City.

Speaking on the Wenger-Chelsea topic, Seaman said:

“Arsene always said he wouldn’t come back to the Premier League because of his love for Arsenal, that he wouldn’t feel right competing against Arsenal.

“But obviously time’s a healer and he could think, ‘I want to go back there and prove a few people wrong’.

“For me, Arsene got a lot of criticism that wasn’t deserved over his last few years at Arsenal.

“It looks like there could be a vacancy at Chelsea quite soon, depending on their next three games which are three big games for Chelsea.

“He’d be great there, I think. He’d be great anywhere, he’s a fantastic manager.

“I would love to see him back, but I don’t think it would happen.”

Chelsea have to finish the job in the Europa League tie against Malmo tonight, before turning their attention towards the cup final against City on Sunday.

PSG interested in signing Chelsea teenager

According to reports from the Sun, PSG have joined Bayern Munich in the race to sign Chelsea teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The 18-year old winger hasn’t been a regular for Chelsea ever since joining the senior team. This season, Hudson-Odoi has made 13 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions so far. He has scored 2 goals and 3 assists.

There was plenty of talk about Hudson-Odoi wanting to leave Chelsea due to lack of game time. In fact, reports claimed that the teenager handed in a transfer request to Chelsea which the club turned down.

Bayern Munich showed interest in signing the winger and made several bids to sign him. However, Chelsea turned down all bids.

After the transfer window ended, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that the club is still interested in signing Hudson-Odoi and are confident of signing him in the summer.

Now, even PSG have shown interest in signing Hudson-Odoi. PSG have a number of world-class footballers in the wing department. However, they would be willing to have substantial cover for their wingers and thus, are keen to rope in Hudson-Odoi.

Bayern are currently heavy favourites to sign Hudson-Odoi. Given how close they came to signing the teenager in January, there is a very good chance that they will sign Hudson-Odoi during the summer and not PSG.

Maurizio Sarri's Future Put Into Further Doubt As Diego Simeone Gets Linked With Chelsea

As speculation continues to build over Maurizio Sarri’s limited time as Chelsea manager, former Blues player-manager, Rudd Gullit predicts Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone can make his way over to the Premier League soon.

The Argentine boss and his team delivered a convincing 2-0 win over previous season finalists, Juventus last night in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie at the Wandametropolitana. In the pre-match analysis, Gullit said on beIN SPORTS, “Maybe he’s coming to the Premier League one day, we don’t know.”

Simeone only signed a new contract with Atletico this month extending his stay in the Spanish capital till the summer of 2022. He is the longest-serving manager in the La Liga but Gullit believes the 48-year-old is destined to end up in England soon.

Former Manchester United striker, Andy Cole was working alongside Gullit and seemed to agree with the latter’s opinion, even claiming that Simeone would be an ideal fit at Chelsea.

“That will be interesting to see him in the Premier League,” Cole said. “I think he would [fit in at Chelsea], I think he would. It will be interesting what system he would play as well.”

Simeone is known for the defensive discipline he has instilled into the Atletico side over the past 8 years and his most favoured formation till date has been the 4-4-2. Gullit explained how the Atletico boss will implement his playing style at the Stamford Bridge if he were to sign with them.

“Oh he will do the same [4-4-2], I think so,” Gullit replied to Cole. “You never know of course because you need to play with the players that you have. If you don’t have the personnel then you do something different.”

Former Chelsea defender makes worrying claim about the future of two players

Former Chelsea defender claims that Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante may leave the club due to Sarri’s tactics

Ex-Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot claims that his former club could lose of their star players – N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard, because of Maurizio Sarri’s tactics.

The Dutchman said that because he thinks the manager is not making those two players play to their strengths.

Sarri has come under heaps of criticism after his side have failed miserably in the past month or so to pick up results. Furthermore, they are getting beaten heavily, which raises question marks to another level.

The Italian has been facing criticism regarding Kante’s positioning in the team. The Frenchman is playing as one of the advanced midfielders, despite knowing that he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

The manager’s comments on Hazard being a selfish player and not a leader perplexed many fans.

Speaking to the Alan Brazil Breakfast Show, Melchiot said:

“If you play players out of their position, you’re taking away their happiness and when their happiness goes, players are going to start looking at somewhere else.

“Kante is happy doing the job he’s good at, but now Sarri is making him go forward.

“His strength is breaking up play and winning the ball back, and that allows other Chelsea players to take more risks because they have that security of Kante being behind them. That security is gone now and if they lose the ball, their opponents come straight at them.

“It’s the same with Hazard – if you want to keep hold of your star players you have to make them feel good about what they’re doing.

“Sarri has started to complain that he dribbles too much with the ball, but what do you want? That’s his ability and there is no player who wants to play against him. When he does that.”

Chelsea have to finish the Europa League tie against Malmo on Thursday, before turning their attention towards the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday.

Maurizio Sarri Has Provided An Important Update On His Future

Maurizio Sarri has made it clear he is yet to sit down with owner Roman Abramovich or director Marina Granovskaia to discuss his future.

Reports of Sarri’s sacking were doing the rounds following Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester United but that proved to be a hoax. Goals from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba piled more misery on the Italian manager who appeared to be under severe scrutiny.

In a gap of eight days, both the Manchester Clubs inflicted defeats on the West London side making themselves a laughing stock in the English top tier. Sarriball seemed to have been working fine till their defeat at the Wembley at the hand of Tottenham Hotspur in the top flight.

Since then the Blues have huffed and puffed to make things work out in this new regime. Sarri said, “I have to think I will be the manager of Chelsea for a very long time.

“Otherwise I cannot work.

I am not sure [if I will be here for a long time] but I have to think this. I want to work with a long-term target.

“Of course, in this moment it’s very difficult to think we’re able to win three, four matches in a row. As you know very well in football, everything can change in one day.

“I think we need, first of all, a good performance, a good result and with more confidence, we are able to do anything.”

Chelsea players tired of Sarri-ball: Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger has said that following Sarri-ball is mentally tiring and the players get tired of listening to their manager.

Chelsea have had a disastrous run of results recently. They have lost 5 of their last 11 matches and the players now are suffering from a shortage of confidence. Even the fans have stopped backing the boss and want him and his style of football gone from the club.

Rudiger followed his manager Sarri to the press conference today and was asked a few questions to which he gave some straight forward but fiery answers.

“If you sit in school the whole time and listen to someone, of course, it gets mentally [tiring] but you have to do your job. You say things you don’t mean out of emotions. Sometimes with the results it is hard to take. You then say things in a different way. After City, you can understand they are furious. At the end of the day, the emotions of the fan, I can do nothing about it. All we can do is get results. The fans are always in the stadium behind us.”

Let’s hope things work out at Chelsea.

Sarri believes wins are the only way to keep him from getting sacked

Under fire boss Maurizo Sarri has said that winning matches are the only way to save him from getting sacked.

“I don’t agree for the last match because we played a good game, especially in the first half. We played well.”

“I know very well that, when we are losing, I have to put a striker on the pitch. When we are winning, I have to put a defender on the pitch. But I want to see football in another way.In the last match [against United] we played better, better and better, especially in the first half.”

“We have to solve a big problem because we stayed in the other half for 75 minutes out of 90 and were not able to score. They only played 15 or 16 balls into our box and scored two goals. So we have to solve this problem: a problem of aggression and determination in both boxes.” Sarri then insisted he is not too worried about losing the support of the fans at Stanford Bridge.

“It’s very easy [to get the fans back on the side]: we need to win three or four matches in a row. It’s the only solution. I can understand very well the frustration of our fans because they are used to winning. And now we are in trouble so I can understand it very well”

“But there isn’t another way. We have only to have good performances and good results. “Of course, in this moment, it’s very difficult to think that we are able to win three or four.”
