Top 5 Best Chelsea managers ever based on win-% stats
Here are the Top 5 Best Chelsea managers ever based on stats and their win-percentage:
5. Maurizio Sarri has a win percentage of 63.5% (2018-2019)
Sarri brought in Sarri-ball from Naples, Italy. He had brought a new style of play to the ground at Stamford Bridge but things have fallen apart now, Sarri still has a big success percentage at Chelsea. He has 40 wins in 63 games. He left for Juventus where he won the Serie A before getting sacked.
4. Antonio Conte has a win percentage of 65.09%
One of the top Italian Chelsea managers. Antonio Conte managed Chelsea between 2016 and 2018. From the 106 games he managed, Chelsea won 69 times, drew 20 and lost 17 games. The Italian was known for his defensive brand of football. In his first season in charge, Chelsea won a club record 30 league matches.
3. Avram Grant has a win percentage of 66.67%

Avram Grant is higher on this list than Carlo and Jose. Why? This is due to the fact he only managed 54 games for Chelsea between September 2007 and May 2008. Of those 54 games, Grant won 36 times, drew 13 and lost 5 times. However Avram Grant was let go, despite this win rate. Luiz Scolari took over the next season.
2. Jose Mourinho has a win percentage of 67.03% (2004-2007)

The “special one” Jose Mourinho’s first spell at Chelsea made him number two on this list. The Portuguese manager took over the club in 2004 and has a win percentage of 67.03%. This is due to the fact Jose Mourinho won 124 games out of a total of 185 games while managing The Blues. He drew 40 times and lost 21 times.
1. Guus Hiddink has a win percentage of 72.73%

Guus Hiddink, known as the “caretaker manager”, has the best win percentage for Chelsea of all-time. As a matter of fact, Hiddink has had a habit of taking over Chelsea when they are in trouble after having had two spells at the club. Furthermore, his win rate is high because Hiddink only managed 22 games for Chelsea. Of those 22 games, Chelsea won 16 times, drew 5 and lost 1.
Furthermore, Hiddink would later come back to Chelsea as interim manager once again in 2015. This was after Jose Mourinho was sacked in that disastrous season. Hiddink managed to turn their season around, albeit with a lot of draws, with Chelsea finishing 10th. This just goes to show how bad that season was then in 2015/16.

Who was Chelsea’s best manager?
José Mourinho is widely regarded as Chelsea’s greatest manager. During his two spells (2004–2007, 2013–2015), he won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and three League Cups, transforming Chelsea into a dominant force.
His tactical genius and charismatic leadership set the standard. Carlo Ancelotti (2009–2011) also stands out for delivering Chelsea’s first domestic double (Premier League and FA Cup in 2009–10).
Thomas Tuchel (2021–2022) further etched his name in history by winning the 2021 UEFA Champions League, the club’s second European crown.

Who would be a good manager for Chelsea?
Chelsea has struggled to find stability in recent years, going through several managerial changes. A good manager for Chelsea would need to bring tactical flexibility, player management skills, and long-term vision. Some potential candidates include:
- Zinedine Zidane – The French legend has won three Champions League titles with Real Madrid and is known for handling big egos and delivering results in high-pressure situations.
- Xabi Alonso – The Bayer Leverkusen manager has impressed with his modern attacking philosophy and could be a great long-term option.
