Why Luiz really left Chelsea

David Luiz’ Chelsea departure was as abrupt as it gets in football.

In modern day football at the highest level, transfers are common. What is also common is to rely on the media to release rumours of these possible transfers from day one itself. It usually becomes a mini drama series.

However, in case of Luiz, it seemed out of nowhere, reports emerged he is ready to leave Chelsea and join Arsenal. And boy did that happen fast! The Brazilian had moved teams in London and joined our rivals in a matter of days.

So why did it happen so fast? Well both Luiz and Lampard spoke of an amicable departure. And no bad blood has been spilled. However, many new reports are now revealing that the story is about how Luiz’s insubordination cost him his Chelsea career.

Luis is known for his long ball specialty, something Lampard did not want him using in so much abundance as he wanted to build from the back with short passes. Hence, after the second last pre-season match, where Luiz focused solely on playing long balls, Lampard made it clear to him that his Chelsea career was all but over.

And now, he is at Arsenal! I bet you did not see this as the reason.

Chelsea Stars Reveals His Extra Training Routine With Frank Lampard

Mason Mount admitted to staying after hours to train with Frank Lampard on his shooting.

The 19-year-old could not have asked for a better guide to get him into the list of best shooters in the Premier League.

Currently, Ruben Neves is considered one of the top long-distance shooters in England followed by the likes of Paul Pogba and Granit Xhaka. Mount has shown a versatile ability to both create goals from midfield and also to score from close spaces.

As he continues to develop his game, refining some of his other qualities will help him reach the next level of being a top professional.

“After training, we do some finishing sometimes,” Mount told Sky Sports. “I’m obviously talking to him every day, especially after the games – what I can do better, where I can make the runs and where I can get into the box.

“I’m always speaking to him and trying to learn things every day, mostly after training doing finishing. There is no better person to learn from than him.”

The fact that Mount knows the opportunity he has at his fingertips makes it out on how good this lad truly is. He surprised many when he got included in the opening day fixture against Manchester United and that too in the starting XI.

The Englishman did not take long to justify his selection as he scored an exquisite goal against Norwich City last month and also quickly made himself the creative hub of this young Chelsea side.

Veteran Forward Open To The Idea Of Leaving Chelsea

Veteran Forward Open To The Idea Of Leaving Chelsea

Given the circumstances at Chelsea, it might not be too long before we see Olivier Giroud heading for the exit doors.

The Frenchman who is about to turn 33 this month, is open to leaving the club in 2020.

He has only started one Premier League game so far under Frank Lampard, with Tammy Abraham being picked as the number one forward. Many believed that Giroud should have been the leading striker this season but the youngster quickly changed everyone’s mind.

Abraham scored two consecutive braces against Norwich City and Sheffield United to completely overturn people’s opinion about him. He had an excellent scoring spell last campaign as well, netting the ball 26 times for Aston Villa in the Championship.

It is quite clear, young and more athletic players are what Frank Lampard prefers and Giroud can only hope to be as good as a backup option. He was questioned about his future with his contract set to end next summer.

He said, “MLS, for my family, my children who speak English, it is interesting. In a year? Two years? I don’t know when. But of course, I will be opened to a new challenge. It is not only MLS which could interest me.”

“There has been no discussions because the club had an option for an extra year and they took it because they were happy with my contribution to the club,” the former Arsenal player continued.

“It is even more than that. There is real trust. It was not really my desire to leave anyway so I never asked myself about a possible departure.”

Christian Pulisic has had a fast start to life at Chelsea.

The USA international star joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in the summer after the deal was agreed back in January. Pulisic is the only new player Chelsea have been able to introduce to their team thanks to a transfer ban.

This means, the pressure to deliver and perform has been huge on the former Bundesliga star. However, at the age of 20, Pulisic has delivered promptly and impressed everyone with his adaptation to the Premier League.

The American has credited his start to the  life in England to his club manager Frank Lampard.

Speaking to reporters, Pulisic said: ‘It’s amazing. I mean, it’s everything I hoped it would be and more. It’s incredible. It worked out really well, for sure. ‘Frank’s a great guy and he’s helped me so much and he understands where I’m coming from. He’s done a really good job and helped me, teaching us, especially a lot of the younger guys on the team.’

Chelsea however, will hope Pulisic’s personal form can start reflecting their club form as well. The Blues have picked up 5 points in 4 games, a series of results Stamford Bridge is not familiar with.

Championship side Fulham has confirmed that they will sign defender Hector from Chelsea in January. The Jamaican international joined the Blues in 2015 from Reading but has never made a senior appearance for the club.

He spent last season in the Championship at Sheffield Wednesday, making 37 appearances for the club. He also had stints at Hull City and Eintracht Frankfurt before committing his future to Fulham until 2022.

“It was an easy decision to make. My mum’s from Fulham, so it’s nice to join a club that some of my family support,” Hector told Fulham’s official club website.

“It’s good to now be a part of the set-up here. Hopefully, things can work out well and we can get promoted. I know how tough the Championship is and it won’t be any different for us.”

“We’ll have to work hard for it but the squad is very good and my job will be to help them push for promotion.”

Hector will train with Fulham until 2020 when he completes his move to Craven Cottage.

Getafe announced late on Monday night that Robert Kenedy had joined the club on a loan deal from Chelsea.

Kenedy will spend the season playing in Spain’s La Liga having moved to Getafe on a season-long loan”, Chelsea have confirmed via their official website.

The Spanish side have agreed to get the Brazilian on loan from Chelsea for the whole season.  Last term he was loaned out to Newcastle where he netted once and gave an assist in his 28 appearances for the Magpies.

Before moving to Chelsea in summer 2015, Kenedy made his name with Fluminense in Brazil. Acting as a second striker and winger for the Rio de Janeiro side, the then 19-year-old caught the eyes of the English club who brought him to London by paying a €6 million transfer fee.

But instead of heading out on loan immediately, as most players of his age and repute do at Chelsea, he was integrated into the first-team by manager Jose Mourinho.

Chances for him were few and far between, but he did get valuable playing time and experience in his debut season in England.

Still, there were not too many opportunities for Kenedy to feature. And that could only be addressed by the good old ‘loan army’, which he joined by heading out on his first season-long stint away from Stamford Brigde.

At Getafe, Kenedy should hope to rediscover his form and carry it forward in a league known for allowing players with pace and dribbling skills like him to shine.

It is all on him to beat any competitors for a starting eleven spot, and show Chelsea’s brass that he deserves at glory.

How Close Chelsea Winger Came To Signing With Bayern Munich

How Close Chelsea Winger Came To Signing With Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich had made considerable ground on signing Callum Hudson-Odoi before a transfer had to be terminated.

The German giants placed three separate bids for the winger and had all three rejected. They returned with another offer this summer even when Hudson-Odoi was suffering from an Achilles tear.

Reports claim that Bayern’s final offer was believed to be in the region of €25m as their sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić admitted, the entire transfer could have been handled in a much better way.

“There were reasons why we pursued the transfer this way,” Salihamidžić told The Athletic. “But I’m self-critical enough to admit that we could have handled it better.”

Bayern’s desire to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi was revealed to the public from the very get-go. None of the proceedings were private and Maurizio Sarri even had to go out and constantly deny all reports even if they were true.

Building from the pressure of not receiving playing time and also receiving such a lucrative offer from a European big gun, Hudson-Odoi was ready to pack his bags for Munich. The youngster reportedly would have been happy to sign with Bayern and even had agreed personal terms with them.

Eventually, the transfer failed and Chelsea managed to hold on to one of their most promising youth products. Hudson-Odoi is expected to return to the Chelsea first-team soon as a number of his other Academy teammates have already broken into Frank Lampard’s squad.

Chelsea Goalkeeper Finally Lifts Lid On Infamous Clash With Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea Goalkeeper Finally Lifts Lid On Infamous Clash With Maurizio Sarri

Kepa Arrizabalaga insists his infamous blow out with Maurizio Sarri during the FA Cup final last season was settled a day after the game.

The former Chelsea boss had decided to substitute Will Caballero in for Kepa as both teams were approaching an inevitable penalty shootout.

Kepa Arrizabalaga stood on the pitch and refused to come off, signalling to Sarri about his decision. The manager was obviously visibly unhappy, as was his assistant, Gianfranco Zola.

“I am not proud about what happened,” he told Cadena SER. “I lived through a storm that weekend. This is a situation that I never felt. He thought I was injured, everything went faster [than expected] and happened as it happened.

“I said sorry to everyone and Sarri explained to me how he felt after this, but we were in the spotlight this week.

“Internally, everything was solved and finished the day after Carabao Cup. From now I will ask the manager [questions] just in the half-time of the extra-time!”

To everyone’s surprise, Arrizabalaga was dropped for only one game after which he was restored as the club’s number one goalkeeper. Sarri admitted to the press that the situation had been settled but he more or so looked to have been forced to say it in public.

Nevin hails Abraham

Speaking of the ability of young players like Tammy Abraham and their ability to have shown versatility already, Chelsea columnist Pat Nevin has singled out the young English striker Abraham this week for praise.

It also helps hugely if they have good football brains. It may shock you to know (or maybe it wouldn’t!) that not all pros do have that inherent football intelligence to anywhere near the level you would expect. The likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic however have plenty of the football grey stuff up top to allow them to learn quickly.

It is fabulous that Tammy is continuing his goal-scoring spree and doing it with different types of goals. Clearly he is no one-trick pony. He is getting the tap-ins and the fine strikes from distance but he is also getting the scruffy ones nicked from defensive mistakes. The last category is vital if you are going to get 20 in a season or more in the Premier League. Every top scorer will tell you the same thing; a 40-yard pile driver counts the same as a two-yard mishit as long as it goes over that line.

Pulisic backed to succeed at Chelsea

Chelsea star Christian Pulisic has been told to cement his position in the team in the midst of the club’s transfer ban.

“I love him. Talent-wise, yeah [he’s the best American player ever],” Nash agreed, after host Bill Simmons asked if he was the USA’s best export in history.

“It’s going to be very interesting, because I think he’s been very sharp so far at Chelsea.

“This isn’t a level above him, he can thrive at this level.

“He’s gifted, he’s quick, he’s got a quick mind, he’s versatile.

“At these clubs like Chelsea, where there’s money, he’s lucky because they’ve got a two-window transfer ban so they can’t recruit over him.

“These clubs, though, they’re going to have the opportunity to go out and buy a great player, so as much as anything it’s about him finding his spot and his role in this team and own it.

“He can be a great, great player, but if he doesn’t quite fit and nail down his position in the way that they play, he could flounder.

“He can be a ten, for sure, in the future. A lot of modern tens start wide and then come in, [teams] don’t really play with that ten in the hole that sits behind the striker.”
