Chelsea’s £70,000 Attempt At Keeping Exquisite English Talent From Leaving

Chelsea's £70,000 Attempt At Keeping Exquisite English Talent From Leaving

Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi has been swayed by Bayern Munich’s interest in him and the Blues are desperately trying to change the 18-year-old’s mind by offering him a £70,000-per-week contract.

Maurizio Sarri has allowed the teenager to make sporadic appearances in the Premier League and starts only in Cup ties. Hudson-Odoi is seemingly not pleased with the game time offered to him and believes has better chances in Germany with the Bundesliga giants.

Both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben are in the twilight of their playing career with the latter already expected to leave Bayern after this season. The Bavarians have already acquired Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies to succeed the aforementioned duo. However, they also believe Hudson-Odoi is a generational talent and have pitched a £35m offer to Chelsea to sign him.

The Blues are trying to keep hold of the English winger even after signing Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund for €64m. Sarri understands that Real Madrid are still firm on their ambitions of signing Eden Hazard next summer which could potentially leave the Blues understaffed in the wide positions.

Hudson-Odoi is also one of the most promising youngsters to graduate from the Chelsea academy and the club would hate to see yet again one of their own talents leave the Stamford Bridge for greener pastures elsewhere.

Hudson-Odoi’s international youth teammates like Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson has found success in Germany while also developing their games thoroughly.

Gonzalo Higuain Signing To Benefit Eden Hazard More Than Chelsea

Chelsea are finalising the loan agreement of Gonzalo Higuain for the remainder of the season and according to Jermain Jenas, this move could benefit Eden Hazard more than it does for the Blues.

The English pundit said, “I think they will benefit more from getting Hazard back out on the left than they will from Higuain being in the middle.”

Hazard has been vocal about his discomforts in being played in the false number nine spot. The Belgian is regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League due to impressive bouts from the left flank in previous campaigns.

With Alvaro Morata struggling in front of the goal and Olivier Giroud serving a spell on the sidelines, Maurizio Sarri was forced to push Hazard into the false nine role. Remarkably, the 28-year-old adjusted to the role and delivered 3 goals and 4 assists in the last 7 Premier League fixtures.

Now, Higuain is expected to slot into the central forward spot which will allow Hazard to go back to his usual position on the left wing. The latter is incredibly lethal from the spot mostly due to his ability to cut in whenever required.

Jenas is aware of Higuain’s abilities and believes Hazard can play alongside the Argentine comfortably.

The Blues are going to have to finalise a deal for Higuain by 12 PM Friday in order to include him in the Arsenal fixture.

Mourinho explains why Chelsea sold Salah

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho explained why Chelsea had to let go of Mohamed Salah. Salah joined Chelsea from Basel in 2014 on a transfer fee of £11 million when Mourinho was the club’s manager.

However, his appearances were very limited and he ended up playing only 19 matches before being loaned to Roma. Salah later signed for Roma from where he joined Liverpool.

The Egyptian has thrived at Liverpool, scoring 61 goals in 82 matches so far.

Mourinho said that he is not responsible for Salah’s departure from Chelsea and that he admires the Liverpool forward.

Mourinho said, “First of all let’s start with Salah. Because lots of things have been told which are not true. For a start people try to identify me as the coach that sold Salah. I am the coach that bought Salah. It’s completely the wrong idea.

I played against Basel in the Champions League. Salah was a kid at Basel. When I play against a certain team I analyse a team and players for quite a long time. And I fell in love with that kid. I bought the kid.

I pushed the club to buy him and at the time we already had fantastic attacking players – Hazard, Willian, we had top talent there. But I told them to buy that kid. He was more a winger coming inside than a striker.”

Mourinho believes that impatience from Salah’s end was a reason why he could not stay at Chelsea for long. The Portuguese said, “He was just a lost kid in London. He was a lost kid in a new world. We wanted to work him, to become better and better and better. But he was more of the idea of wanting to play and not wait.

So we decided to put him on loan, in a culture I knew well. Italy. Tactical football. Physical football. A good place to play. Fiorentina are a good team to play for without the pressure of playing for the title. And we decided that move there. When the club decided to sell him it was not me. I bought him, I did not sell him.”

Salah has established himself as one of the best players in the world at Liverpool and there’s no doubt his best is yet to come.

Former Arsenal star predicts Higuain will fail at Chelsea

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson is of the opinion that Gonzalo Higuain will fail at Chelsea if he comes to the club.

There are several reports claiming that Chelsea have agreed on a loan deal with Juventus for Higuain. The Blues will keep Higuain till the end of the season and extend it by another 12 months provided he meets certain prerequisites.

Higuain is on course to reunite with Maurizio Sarri under whom he played at Napoli.

Chelsea are looking to bolster their attack and they think that signing Higuain will be useful.

However, Merson thinks that Higuain is past his prime and won’t do very well at Stamford Bridge. The former Arsenal star said, ” I’m not sure on him. He was a great player but looks below his best of late.

He hasn’t pulled up trees for a while and now he’s coming to the hardest league in the world. He won’t have any time to adapt either as he needs to hit the ground running as Chelsea need someone to play as their focal point.

I’d rather someone that has played in the Premier League before and knows what this league demands.”

Chelsea play their 23rd league match of the season against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

Chelsea Face Competition From Manchester United For English Fullback

Chelsea Face Competition From Manchester United For English Fullback

Crystal Palace fullback, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is reportedly being monitored by both Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 21-year-old has been a revelation for the Eagles in the right-back position, winning the club’s Player Of The Month award for both March and August of last year. He made his debut for the side back in February 2018 against Tottenham Hotspur and has since totalled 31 appearances for the Palace senior side.

Wan-Bissaka was even called up to the England U21 side in September where he played the full 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw against the Netherlands. He is quickly establishing himself as one of the more noticeable right-backs in the Premier League.

He is technically good going forward and has the discipline to maintain his position at the back, which is certainly absent in most fullbacks these days. Wan-Bissaka who is born of Congolese-descent has been with Palace since 2008.

If he continues to develop at the same pace he has been for the past year at Selhurst Park, one can easily see title contenders such as Manchester United and Chelsea sweep him up in the upcoming transfer windows.

The Red Devils are eager to strengthen their backline with both Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young due to turn 34 this year. Diogo Dalot still has to prove his worth in the Premier League and needs to win the praises of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Chelsea are also close to sending Davide Zappacosta back to Italy with an out-of-favour as the only backup option behind Cesar Azpilicueta.

According to reports from Spanish daily AS, Chelsea and Manchester City have joined in the race to sign Christian Eriksen. He is one of the major players Chelsea could sign in January 2019 and he is listed on the Chelsea transfer targets list 2019.

Eriksen’s current contract at Spurs expires in 2020 but he has been linked to a move away from the club lately.

Real Madrid have showed interest in the Danish attacking midfielder and are still the frontrunners to sign him.

Now, Premier League powerhouses Chelsea and Manchester City have also joined the race.

Chelsea latest signings 2019 has not been impressive so far. Eriksen hasn’t signed a new long-term contract with the club and several clubs are thinking of signing him at the moment.

Chelsea are trying to bolster their attack department in the winter as they can’t rely on Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata given their current form. They are close to signing Gonzalo Higuain on loan from AC Milan. However, the addition of Eriksen will certainly be an asset to Chelsea.

Given the importance of Eriksen and the fact that they will be without Harry Kane for a while, Spurs will try their best to keep the Dane at the club.

Tottenham Hotspur are currently third in the Premier League table but they have won only one of their last three matches. Spurs will be hoping to garner three points on Sunday when they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Chelsea's €18m Asking Price For Fullback Too Much For Lazio

Chelsea had initially agreed to loan out Davide Zappacosta to Lazio with the player also eager on returning to Italy. However, the latest report claims that the move is currently stalled due to the Blues’ €18m asking price for a permanent transfer.

The 26-year-old has featured for only 18 minutes in the Premier League this season as opposed to the 53 games under Conte. With just 10 appearances registered this term under Maurizio Sarri, it is fair to say that the right-back is not firmly planted in the Italian manager’s future plans.

Cesar Azpilicueta has been reinstated in his usual right-back position as Sarri likes to implement a strict back-four formation on a regular basis.

Zappacosta made his way over to the Stamford Bridge from Torino ahead of the 2017/18 season for £25m. At the time, Chelsea were coming fresh off a Premier League winning campaign and Roman Abrahimovich had sanctioned quite a few big-money transfers.

Zappacosta’s agent, Alessandro Lucci is reportedly in London trying to get Chelsea to lower their asking price. Lazio are ready to offload Riza Durmisi to Celta Vigo with a buy-back option worth €7m, which they plan on using for Zappacosta’s arrival.

However, the Serie A outfit feel Chelsea’s asking price is far too high for a player who has not played much for the side.

Leon Bailey's Agent Confirms Chelsea Contact

Chelsea have made contact with Leon Bailey’s agent over the prospect of a potential transfer.

Bailey has been one of the preferred transfer targets for the Blues as they have enquired the availability of a number of times in the last couple of seasons.

The West London giants were very keen to bring in the player in the summer but Bailey rejected the chance to move as he thought it would be a hindrance to his development.

The left winger was pretty influential for Bayer Leverkusen last season scoring on 12 occasions. But he has struggled to replicate that form this term as he hasn’t had many chances under former manager Heiko Herrlich at the club.

But with Peter Bosz coming in Bailey’s fate could change in near future. The 21 year old has great potential and with Leverkusen hovering around the relegation zone Bosz would be needed his service in the long term.

His agent Craig Butler who also happens to be his step father admitted Chelsea have been in touch with him for a possible move. “I am very happy that this change has come about. Leon did not develop under Heiko Herrlich.

“For Leon it is very important that he enjoys football. He lives alone in Germany, the family is in Jamaica, and if Leon does not have fun, it kills him

“Top clubs have come forward, such as Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Roma.

“In recent months they have been surprised that Leon plays so seldom, wondering why a top league player like him is suddenly sitting on the bench.”

Latest update on Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea’s latest transfer drama seems to be on going for a rather lengthy time.

There is the case for Morata who just cannot find a suitor to adopt him from Chelsea. The club is also failing to bring in Gonzalo Higuain.

There is finally the issue of Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Chelsea youngster has risen through the ranks rather quickly and is considered one of the best young talents in England.

However, due to the presence of Willian, Pedro and Hazard, he has been unable to break into the first team and that gave way for Bayern Munich to pursue him for a permanent transfer to Germany.

Bayern submitted three bids for the player but none were successful. Chelsea are determined to hold off the transfer as they see Hudson-Odoi as an important part of their future plans.

They have gone as far as possibly taking the matter to FIFA if Bayern were to be found guilty of doing anything illegal in their pursuit of the player. Maurizio Sarri was visibly displeased with Bayern’s attempt to poach the player.

Hudson-Odoi himself hastily removed an instagram post this week, “Dont believe everything you hear”

Alvaro Morata’s possible move to Spain hangs in the balance now after Atletico Madrid reportedly refused to pay a penny for him.

Morata joined the Chelsea team back in the summer of 2017 for a club record move. His previous experience of playing for Juventus and Real Madrid meant that Chelsea had to fork out a big sum to sign the player.

The player since his debut at the Bridge, scored 6 goals in 6 games but then faded away slowly. He scored 28 goals in 66 games since then. The player has proven mentally weak to play for a big club and is ready to move on now it would seem.

Morata has reportedly offered his services to every club in Spain in order to his exit his Chelsea exile. He was first linked with a move to Sevilla which failed through due to money. His next stop was Barcelona which did not work out as well.

His final destination it would seem was Atletico Madrid who were keen on signing him. However, now it would seem that the club are unwilling to pay a single penny for him to sign him permanently.

Oops! What next for him?
