Chelsea Up Against PSG For The Services Of Miralem Pjanic

0
Chelsea Up Against PSG For The Services Of Miralem Pjanic

Chelsea reportedly want Miralem Pjanich from Barcelona.

According to Daily Star, Paris Saint-Germain are offering stiff competition for the veteran’s signature.

Pjanic is understandably unhappy at Camp Nou and would not be opposed to a move away this summer. Ronald Koeman clearly does not favour him after the season we all just witnessed.

It is a bit strange to see because Pjanic was hailed as a world-beater back at Juventus. He developed into one of the most technically proficient players during his time at Serie A. First at AS Roma and then in Turin. Pjanic won plenty of silverware with The Old Lady before he decided to join up Barca’s ranks on a bizarre exchange deal last summer.

The move did not work out and now, he seems to be on the market. Thomas Tuchel wants to bring in an able distributor who can operate from deep. Jorginho has done a decent job this past season but we all know that Chelsea should make improvements.

Pjanic is far more mobile than the Italian and has better vision. He is also a dead-ball specialist. The only hiccup in signing him would be his age. At 31, not many players maintain the same level of effectiveness that they showed before.

Chelsea Leading Race For Sevilla’s Jules Kounde

Chelsea Leading Race For Sevilla's Jules Kounde

Chelsea are reportedly aiming to sign Sevilla defender, Jule Kounde.

Speculation behind his future turned ripe as soon as France exited the European Championship last night.

Kounde has been a subject of interest for plenty of top European outfits. Chelsea reportedly are leading the race as the 22-year-old seeks a new challenge in his career.

“I’m at a great club,” he said ahead of France’s defeat last night to Switzerland. “But obviously, I would like to evolve into a bigger team.

“We will see what the future holds, but it is something in my head.”

Kounde’s Sevilla contract is set to last until June 2024. Manchester United and Real Madrid are also heavily involved in transfer talks, all ready to pay his sizeable release clause.

Thomas Tuchel wants to build on the £200m signings he inherited from last season. He ideally would like to reinforce his midfield and forward roles. After guiding Chelsea to a Champions League title in such a short time, he deserves to be backed in the transfer window.

Kounde could be an influential figure in the backline. He is athletic, versatile and capable of playing in either a back-three or a traditional centre-half partnership.

Kai Havertz Talks Up Chesea Target Harry Kane

Kai Havertz Talks Up Chesea Target Harry Kane

Kai Havertz has hailed England skipper, Harry Kane ahead of Germany’s Wembley tie.

Chelsea are reportedly contending for Kane’s services but Spurs are not interested in selling to a rival.

Havertz said: “He is a top striker who is not a classic and not a false number nine. He’s something in between.

“He picks up the balls from behind, plays deadly passes to the front and is brutally good in the box.

“He has a great shot on goal and a good eye for the spaces. He’s difficult to grab for a central defender because he runs deep, comes short and can shoot.

“It is not for nothing that he has scored and prepared the most goals in the Premier League this season.”

Havertz continued on his struggles in his first full season for Chelsea. He said, “The illness hit me hard.

“It lasted some four to five weeks before I could even think of getting back on to a football pitch. During the time I was ill, I was quite ill, to be honest. And I wish it upon absolutely no one.

“Then the aftermath was difficult, too. I really had to work hard to get back to the pre-Covid fitness levels. You have to live with it.”

He added: “I haven’t really explored London a lot or as much as I would have liked to.

“It really is difficult to do anything in terms of leisure activities. Every three days you have an important match coming up, so there is precious little time to go sightseeing or go for a meal.

“It looks a bit bleak but that’s the way it is. You come home from training and are happy about every hour that you can spend inside your own flat.

“I do hope that later, London will give me much more joy, and I’ll have many, many good London experiences.”

Maguire Hopeful Mason Mount Will Be Fit For Germany Clash

Mason Mount confirms successful vaccination after Euros scare

Mason Mount is still isolating following his contact with Billy Gilmour in a group tie.

Both Mount and Ben Chilwell will have to be ruled fit to appear in the crucial knockout tie against Germany next.

Harry Maguire told ITV: “For sure he’s a fit lad, I think he’s been doing work from a distance and working away from the group. I’m sure he’s been doing a lot of running as well because there’s not much you can do when you’re working away from the group.

“His fitness will be there so I’m sure he’ll be available, well I hope he’ll be available because he’s a big part of the team, as is Ben as well.

“It’s been disappointing for those, we had to make sure we had to beat Czech Republic to put a smile on their faces as I’m sure they were kicking every ball watching it on TV. It’s disappointing, but like I say I’m sure they’ll be available.”

Another Chelsea star who will be featuring for the other side will be Kai Havertz. Speaking about the upcoming game, he said, “Of course, this is a special game for me.

“I’ve played at Wembley at one point or another. It’s a big game for all of us and we’ll do everything we can to win.”

Andreas Christensen Could Save Chelsea Millions

Andreas Christensen Could Save Chelsea Millions

Andreas Christensen is in the form of his life currently, playing for his country in the 2020 Euros.

Denmark put aside Wales by a scoreline of 4-0 to progress to the quarter-final stage.

Christensen has been incredible for the Danes so far, and topped it off with a worldly strike against Russia in the final group game. The 27-year-old was mimicking the same standards for Chelsea since Thomas Tuchel took over.

If The Blues manage to sign him to an extension, it might eradicate the need to bring in a new centre-half. On the top of that, Thiago Silva has also extended his stay at Stamford Bridge by one year. Even the Brazilian is performing at the highest level at the Copa America.

“A 22-year-old player, especially a defender, is at the beginning of their career,” Thiago Silva told chelseafc.com.

“Of course that’s true for a forward as well, but a forward is able to play professionally when they are 17 or 18 years old. For a defender, that’s a bit more difficult, you have to have more experience, the responsibility is much higher.

“Forwards have less responsibility. They can do things using intuition. At the back, things are a bit more serious, in terms of positioning.

“I think that the 22-year-old Thiago was a guy who was willing to learn. Even though he had a good season with Fluminense, he still had a lot to learn.

“And the best thing is that I was prepared to learn, that’s what I consider the best thing. There’s no use in knowing that you need to learn if you lack the patience and the comprehension of things, because that doesn’t work.”

“Firstly, it was because of the good performances I’d put in, and due to the confidence that not only I, but all of the defence was giving to our goalkeeper,” he recalls.

“Actually, it was not the fans who came up with that nickname, it was the goalkeeper, Fernando Henrique [dos Anjos].

“He was the one who came up with that nickname after a move from the opposition in which I made a good recovery and was able to prevent them from scoring.

“Then, he looked at me and said ‘Nice one, Monster!’ Then the fans heard that through the microphones behind the goal and started calling me Monstro.”

Mason Mount Himself Cannot Believe How Quickly He Has Flourished

Mason Mount Himself Cannot Believe How Quickly He Has Flourished

Mason Mount was voted as Chelsea’s player of the season for 2020/21.

He is now starring for England in the European Championships, playing a prominent role under Gareth Southgate.

“I’ve learnt a lot,” he told chelseafc.com. “I had never experienced a new manager coming in halfway through the season but Thomas [Tuchel] brought different tactics and had a different look on football. All the boys bought into it.

“For me personally, everything has happened so quick. You don’t have time to pinch yourself or look back at what’s happened. I made my 100th appearance for Chelsea in April and it baffles me how that’s gone so quickly but football is a short career.

“The seasons fly by so you have to make the most of every season and enjoy it, which is always something I try to do. Don’t look too far ahead or too far back, just stay in the moment and try to do the big things in football, which is winning trophies.”

Mount’s fitness levels have also been tremendous to sustain such a long season for both club and country. He continues to elevate his game with ease passing match, constantly adapting to whatever is asked of him.

Billy Gilmour Could Become An Excellent Chelsea Player – Kovacic

Billy Gilmour Could Become An Excellent Chelsea Player - Kovacic

Billy Gilmour has been backed to become a superstar for Chelsea.

Matteo Kovacic heavily believes in the rising prospect who has wowed fans at the 2020 Euros.

Gilmour put on an exciting display against England before COVID-19 complications pulled him away from action. Scotland ended up getting knocked out after losing to Croatia in their final group game.

“I did talk with him on the phone as soon as it came out that he was positive,” Kovacic said, as cited by Chelsea’s official website.

“I was very sad about that because he is doing excellently and he is my team-mate.

“I don’t give him too much advice but we do talk a lot. I have seen Billy’s abilities from the first time he started training with the first team.

“He can become a really excellent player so it is up to him to work hard and to get better with each day. I am sure that, with his personality, he is going to do that.”

Gilmour needs to fight for his position at Chelsea. There are senior internationals in Jorginho, Kovacic and N’Golo Kante ahead of him in the pecking order. In addition, The Blues are looking to further reinforce their midfield line up this summer. But the emphasis is mainly on signing a striker for now.

Timo Werner will be staying at Chelsea amid rumours of a move to Real Madrid.

The German striker has scored only 12 goals for Chelsea in his debut season and was expected to nail down the central striking berth since his first few games.

His contract is due to expire in 2025 and his agent has reassured fans that he won’t be leaving Stamford Bridge anytime soon.

“Some top clubs from Europe wanted him. FC Bayern was there too. But in the end Timo decided on Chelsea,” Karlheinz Forster told the Sport1 podcast Meine Bayern-Woche.

Quizzed on whether the 25-year-old could take in a second spell working under Nagelsmann, Forster added: “You can’t rule out anything, but if I had to assess it at the moment, then I would say very clearly that Timo will stay at Chelsea.

“He feels comfortable there. A move will not be an issue in the foreseeable future.

“Julian let Timo play in a different position at Leipzig. A bit like Thomas Muller at Bayern.

“Julian and Timo appreciate each other. Of course, I don’t yet know what will happen in three or four years. Football is fast moving.”

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho deserves to be shortlisted for Ballon d’Or.

The Italian midfielder enjoyed a majestic second half of the 2020-21 season under new boss Thomas Tuchel and was instrumental in the club’s Champions League success.

His club teammate N’Golo Kante has widely been praised for his performances last season with many seeing him win the Ballon d’Or this time around.

Jorginho’s national teammate Lorenzo Insigne believes Jorginho “deserves” to be shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or.

Insigne hopes to see his countryman in the running too.

“We have quality players. You talked about Jorginho and it’s correct,” Insigne said in response to a question about whether Jorginho would deserve the Ballon d’Or.

“He had spent some fantastic years at Chelsea and I am proud to have him in our team.

“I’m not the one deciding if he deserves the Ballon d’Or, but I hope he’ll be shortlisted, he deserves so, he is a great player. I call him the professor and we are all happy to play with him.”

Thomas Tuchel advised to not let Billy Gilmour out on loan

Billy Gilmour advised to stay put at Chelsea and follow Phil Foden’s path at Manchester City.

The 20-year old midfielder was awarded the Man of the Match trophy for his performance against England in the Euros.

He has been advised by Graeme Souness to fight for his place at Stamford Bridge rather than going on loan at Norwich City.

Souness told Sky Sports: “I’d personally keep him at Chelsea. I think Jorginho has to be looking over his shoulder. He’ll be challenging him more than anyone else. I look at Phil Foden at City and Pep didn’t let him go out on loan.

“I look back on my own career and think how did I improve – there was no words of wisdom, no sentence any coach said to me, there was no watershed moment in my career where I turned a corner.

“What made me better, I was 23, went to Liverpool, arguably the best team in the world – certainly the best team in Europe – and I was playing with fabulous players in training every single day.

“I learnt to think quicker, to improve my touch, move the ball quicker and just being around winners – Chelsea have got bundles of them – that will improve him more than playing in a lesser team where it’s a battle every week. That’s how I see it, Phil Foden is an argument for that.”
