Chelsea have made contact with Leipzig over a potential move for Lukeba ahead of next season.

Chelsea are planning to focus on the upcoming summer transfer window. The Blues have reportedly made an enquiry over a potential move for RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba.

The Blues struggled in the defence and conceded goals in big numbers. They need to strengthen their backline ahead of the new season.

The 21-year-old has made 68 competitive appearances for the first team. His notable performance earned him a £30m move to the Bundesliga giants this summer.

The Frenchman has been a regular for Leipzig, having featured in 37 matches across all competitions. He has also started each of Leipzig’s last seven Bundesliga matches.

As per the reports of FootMercato, the Blues have made contact with Leipzig over a potential move for Lukeba ahead of next season. The centre-back has a €70m release clause in his contract which will become active at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Manchester United are also in the race to sign this young defender. Meanwhile, Chelsea would look to crack the deal this summer. He may replace Thiago Silva who is leaving the club this summer.
