Chelsea match like a final: Guardiola

BILDBYRAN

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has labelled the league match versus Chelsea as a potential final for the Citizens.

“It’s a question for [Liverpool]. We are leaders. Twelve games to play, a lot of points,” said Guardiola when asked what his side going top of the table meant. Now comes a big test, a big goal. Chelsea are an exceptional team who have had seven days to prepare.”

“We have to prepare well. It really is a final for us this weekend. If we are able to take these points, it is a huge step forward. The reality is we could have been, one month ago, 10 points behind when we played Liverpool,” he added.

“A few days ago we could have been seven points behind. Now we are top of the league. The lesson is never give up. That is the best advice. That is a lesson for all athletes. Try to win the games, because life can change immediately.”

Always the application is there,” he added.  “The performance is not as good as we expect. Goodison Park is always difficult for Manchester City in the last decade. We made a good first half. We didn’t concede one shot on target here at Goodison Park, which is not normal.”

PSG remain interested in signing Chelsea star

0

PSG are still keen to sign Chelsea star Willian. There were rumours linking the Parisians to the Brazilian on deadlined day but nothing happened.

Nevertheless, PSG are still keen to rope in Willian in the summer. This could be a repeat of last summer for Chelsea as they could be battling to keep Willian and Eden Hazard.

Willian is one of Chelsea’s key players and has been so ever since he joined the club from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013. The winger’s current contract with Chelsea runs out in the summer of 2020.

PSG are in dire need of some reinforcements in their squad and were eager to sign some players in the winter. They only managed to sign Leandro Paredes from Zenit.

Now, PSG have set their sights on Willian. It will be interesting to see what kind of offer they place in front of Chelsea.

Given the fact that they might be losing Hazard in the summer, Chelsea will certainly give their all in keeping Willian at Stamford Bridge.

According to reports from La Gazetta Dello Sport, Chelsea are interested in signing Roma teenager Nicolo Zaniolo. Zaniolo joined Roma from Inter Milan in the summer in a deal that saw Radja Nainggolan going the other way.

The 19-year old attacking midfielder spent the first couple of months of the season of the bench but has featured in all of Roma’s matches since November.

So far, Zaniolo has made 20 appearances for Roma, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists. Zaniolo’s current contract at Roma runs out in 2023 but there are talks of an extension till 2024.

He is one of the most talented youngsters in Italian and his performances have attracted the attention from several top clubs including Real Madrid. Recently, Arsenal also showed interest in the Italian teenager.

Chelsea are eager to add some reinforcements to their squad but given that they will already have an attacking midfielder in the summer in Christian Pulisic, Zaniolo may barely get any playing time at Chelsea.

Besides, Roma definitely won’t be eager to let go of Zaniolo.

Chelsea asked about Coutinho in January

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu has revealed that the Nou Camp outfit has no intention to sell Philippe Coutinho.

When asked if selling Coutinho was on the cards, he said, “It’s not, very young and we expect a lot from him. We do not want to sell to Coutinho.”  He also told the BBC: “A major part of the problem is positional. The biggest discussion around Coutinho is whether he should be played as a winger (in Neymar’s old position) or a midfielder (the role formerly filled by Iniesta), but he just doesn’t look comfortable in either position.

Coutinho has flattered to deceive in the Barcelona shirt and reports claim that Chelsea asked about his fee in January. The Blues are set to lose Eden Hazard in the summer with the Belgian having seemingly made his mind up to leave the club.

Hence, it seems like a logical decision to replace the Belgian star with another extremely talented player. However, the problem the Blues could face is that Hazard is a natural winger and can play out wide where as Coutinho is more of a number 10 who prefers to stay tucked in and create the play.

Ahead of the big FA Cup match versus Chelsea, Manchester United boss has delivered some worrying news for the Blues.

He believes he has a far more prepared approach now and has already picked his team for the cup tie.

“You have got to have different ways of winning games and with our squad you can pick players who suit this team and that team,” he said.

“I knew the gaffer was like that. I have always been like this myself back home in Molde.

“It was different at Cardiff because you had to take one game at a time and try to claw a point here or there.

“But now you do plan ahead and I think I have got my team quite ready for the full month.

“Depending on form as well, I think I have more or less picked my team.”

Chelsea have a battle on their hands as Ole’s men are on a great winning run. However, the Blues are the defending champions of the FA Cup and got the better of United last year when the two teams faced off in the final of the tournament.

It is becoming increasingly evident that Chelsea are ready to part ways with Hazard.

The Belgian has dropped more than enough hints that he wants to be gone and his latest interview will have Chelsea fans hopes’ hanging by a thread. “I know what I am going to do. I have made a decision,” Hazard said in an interview with French radio station RMC.

Earlier this year, Chelsea boss Sarri said he is ready to let Hazard go.  “Eden is 28. If he wants to go, I think he has to go,” Sarri said. “Of course, I hope the opposite. I hope he wants to stay here. He has the potential to be the best player in Europe at the moment.”

It would now seem that Chelsea are ready to make the deal sweet for themselves by only allowing Hazard to leave for Madrid by asking for Isco and Kovacic in return.

Kovacic is currently on loan from the Blues and Isco is falling out of favour at the Bernabeu. The player is ready to leave Spain and Chelsea it appears will have a good chance of getting him should Hazard leave.

Tiemoue Bakayoko has said he wants to stay back in Milan for the long run rather than go back to Chelsea.

“Things are going well for the club and I right now,” Bakayoko told Nice Matin.

“There wasn’t a turning point. I just wanted to show that I was good enough for a big club. Milan are on a different planet.

“I was greeted by Maldini and Leonardo on my first day and and you immediately realise who you’re dealing with.

“Then you have the atmosphere at San Siro, which is extraordinary. Milan are a legendary club. Who wouldn’t like to stay at a club like Milan for a long time?

“Having said that, I’m still under contract with Chelsea for the next three years. I don’t have all the cards.

“Gattuso’s someone who gives everything to his players and transmits many good things.

“He’s like how he was as a player: direct, frank, straight to the point. He doesn’t cheat and doesn’t mince his words.

“Even though he can be tough, he always tells you things for your own good. Life is good in Milan. I’ve already changed my entire wardrobe.

“The weather is similar to the south of France and we eat well here. It’s an ideal place to live.”

Chelsea Plan Audacious £140m Offer For Tottenham Hotspur Duo

Chelsea Plan Audacious £140m Offer For Tottenham Hotspur Duo

Chelsea are planning an audacious bid worth £140m to pry away Tottenham Hotspur duo, Christian Eriksen and Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues are planning on raiding the Spurs ranks in order to replace Eden Hazard and Maurizio Sarri, as per the Express.

The report claims that a warning has already been sent Sarri’s way to deliver Champions League football or face the danger of getting sacked. The Chelsea faithful had to undergo 2 difficult losses against Arsenal and AFC Bournemouth under the Italian manager this year.

First, the Blues got outclassed by the Gunners 2-0 at the Emirates. Then, they got mercilessly taken apart by Bournemouth in a 4-0 showing at Dean Court last month.

This saw the South West London outfit drop down to only a single point’s worth of difference over top-four contenders, Manchester United. Fortunately, Arsenal found themselves at the end of a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City to move 3 points behind Chelsea.

Now it is being claimed that Pochettino’s name has already been written down in the managerial shortlist to succeed Sarri. Chelsea are not new to the process of sacking manager for the other and the former Napoli boss’ job is very much in danger after his team’s performance in the past month.

Pochettino’s exit could cost above £50m in order to break his contract with Tottenham. Eriksen is in the final 18 months of his contract just like Hazard, both of whom have been tipped to leave their respective clubs.

It is understood that if Real Madrid successfully land Hazard in the summer window, their desire to get Eriksen might lower significantly. Thus, opening up the door for Chelsea to make a swoop.

Chelsea In Danger Of Losing Veteran Winger Over Contract Policy

According to the latest reports, Willian is unhappy with the 1-year contract offered to him by Chelsea and could on his way out of the club.

The Brazilian winger who turned 30 last year in August wants a minimum of 3 years in the new deal. He only has 17 more months left in his term with the Blues with interests chiming in from Paris Saint-Germain over the past month.

Willian still holds an important role under Maurizio Sarri, having made 24 appearances this term. However, the former Shakhtar Donetsk player has been inconsistent in his duties of late. He has contributed with 3 goals and 4 assists this term, totalling his tally to 51 and 46 in as many as 253 games for Chelsea.

Roman Abramovich has introduced a policy at Stamford Bridge that no player over the age of 30 will be offered more than a year’s worth of a contract. This has already caused some tension between David Luiz and the club and now it has upset yet another one of their veteran players.

Willian has served the South West London outfit for almost 6 years now, maintaining his starting role under various managers. He might have not reached the elite status that fans expected him to be at but he has still be crucial in the club’s success over the years.

It will be a shame to lose him next summer especially without any real depth from the benches. Callum Hudson-Odoi is still being heavily pursued by Bayern Munich and Eden Hazard is touted to leave for Real Madrid on a massive transfer fee.

Only Christian Pulisic’s summer entry could offer some hope in this particular rumour chain

Gonzalo Higuain Very Quickly Made Aware Of Difference Between Premier League And Serie A

Gonzalo Higuain has just featured in the last 2 Premier League games for Chelsea and he has already noticed some distinct changes from his time at the Serie A.

The Argentine striker scored a brace in Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town and said, “I can see there is a change from the Italian league because here the defenders go into you harder, especially when you receive the ball to feet. This is a big difference, but I have got a good impression of English football and as I gradually get to know my team-mates it will only get better for me.”

“When I was growing up I watched all of the different leagues, but especially lately you see a lot more of the Premier League so I knew about it before I came here. I think it’s a very fascinating league and also the way they play here in England — with a lot of dynamism — is really great.”

“The stadiums are full, there’s a great atmosphere, so this is something very nice for the players and in the streets you can go about your day very calmly, very relaxed. You don’t have to worry about many things and this is important for the players because it actually allows you live life like an ordinary person.”

The Blues fans were delighted to see the former Real Madrid man score with two stunning efforts on goal at Stamford Bridge.
