Maurizio Sarri Calls On Jorginho To Step Up Against Manchester City

Maurizio Sarri insists Jorginho needs to step up in Chelsea’s crucial clash against title holders Manchester City.

City are scheduled to host the Blues which could very much influence the title race. A win for Pep Guardiola’s men will guide them back to the top of the Premier League table while Chelsea will leapfrog Manchester United to break into the top four.

Both Sarri and Guardiola love to showcase possession based football and Jorginho will be central to Chelsea’s gameplay on Sunday. The Italian midfielder has controlled the tempo from the deep lying role and is going to play a crucial role in this crucial fixture.

Sarri said, “It will be really very difficult to be in control of the match. The match is there (in midfield), more than in the strikers.”

“They are able to play if you stop Fernandinho and also we’re able to play if you stop Jorginho.

“We have options. Maybe they have more options than us because they have worked on this for three seasons.

“But I remember that in Naples it wasn’t a big problem if there was a man on Jorginho, so I hope it will be the same here in the future.

“I expect Guardiola’s team want to always be in control of the match, always in possession of the ball and they’re able to do it. So it’s a very difficult match.

“We are used to having the ball and possession so on Sunday it will be very different.

“We will try to play our football, but if they are able to play their football, of course, you have to stay lower (deeper).”

Maurizio Sarri Respects Eden Hazard's Decision To Stay Or Leave

Maurizio Sarri has revealed to the press that he wishes for Eden Hazard to continue at Chelsea for longer but also respects the player’s decision to stay or leave.

A potential departure from the Stamford Bridge has been talked about ever since the Belgian started to perform at an elite level for the Blues. The 28-year-old draws links to Real Madrid during every transfer window and this past month was nothing different.

With his contract running down to a close, Hazard’s probable move to the Santiago Bernabeu has picked up even more momentum lately. The Galacticos are struggling without an offensive talisman and the Blues winger is currently enjoying his best season with 12 goals and 10 assists recorded so far.

Chelsea are due to face Manchester City on Sunday evening as Maurizio Sarri told the press, “I speak every day with Eden, but I speak with Eden about his position on the pitch, not about [speculation].

“I will be really very happy with him if he will want to stay because in my opinion, he’s the best in Europe. And so I would be really very happy, but it’s up to him, I think. I want to see him happy. And so, he has to decide.”

Sarri: Technically Manchester City Has The Best midfield

0

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has said that Manchester City technically have the best midfield at their disposal. The Blues are set to take on the Citizens in their next match in the Premier League.

Speaking to the media ahead of the mega clash, the previous instalment of which went in favour of the Italian gaffer’s side, Sarri said, “You know very well that the midfield of Manchester City is one of the best in the world.”

He added, “Not only Fernandinho but also Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and David Silva. Technically, they are the best midfield in Europe. Maybe we have to defend lower. It wasn’t a choice in the last game, it was a necessity that we sat deeper in the second half in the last game and this will be the same. We will try to play our football, but if they are able to play their football, of course you have to stay lower.”

Sarri also denied the fact that Chelsea depend too much on Jorginho as he said, “[City] are able to play if you stop Fernandinho and we are also able to play if you stop Jorginho. We have options. So, maybe they have more options than us. I remember that in Naples it wasn’t a big problem if there was a man on Jorginho, so I hope it will be the same here.”

Maurizio Sarri talks about changing tactics for Manchester City game

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri could change his tactics from the norm in order to cope with Manchester City and their midfield, which, according to the Italian, is the best in the world.

The former Napoli manager thinks the way City play, it forces the opposition teams to make changes in their tactics to live with that.

He deployed Eden Hazard in a false nine role when these two teams met earlier in the season, and it worked as the Blues won that game 2-0.

Sarri likes to play with that kind of system when he knows his team won’t have much possession. And the manager has hinted at tweaks in tactics ahead of the game at the Etihad.

Speaking to reporters at the training ground, the gaffer explained: “At the moment the situation is different. We have another striker [Higuain instead of Morata].

“The situation is not like the other match, so I can decide something different or have a ‘false nine’. I expect Guardiola’s team want to always be in control of the match, always in possession of the ball and they’re able to do it. So, it’s a very difficult match.

“We are used to having the ball and possession so, on Sunday, it will be very different. Maybe we have to defend lower. [In December] they were able to press us in our half. It wasn’t a choice. It was a necessity. So, I think on Sunday it will be the same.

“You know very well that the midfield of Manchester City is one of the best in the world.”

This is the first meeting of two in couple of weeks time. After Sunday’s game, they will meet again in the Carabao Cup Final at Wembley on 24th February.

Former Scotland manager believes this is the major Eden Hazard problem at Chelsea

Gordon Strachan believes Chelsea are over-reliant on Eden Hazard and that’s a problem.

Former Scotland manager Gordon Strachan believes and warns Chelsea that they are too reliant on star forward Eden Hazard.

The 28-year-old has been an integral part of the progress Maurizio Sarri’s men have made this season. He has scored 12 goals and supplied 10 assists in 24 league appearances, which is at par with the best.

Speaking on the Sky Sports The Debate show, Strachan said: “Do you think they’re too reliant on him?

“When I watch them now, it’s like the rest of the team are a backing for Hazard and they play his way.

“There’s a level where you go below and you’re playing against a lot of worse players than you.

“You can’t keep that kind of exciting level all the time.

“In this country it really is hard work every week in terms of playing against teams.

“When I watch Chelsea just now, I think, it’s like even the real good players are like, ‘I’ve got the ball, where is he?’

“It’s an unofficial movement but they go through him.

“I think they’re so reliant on him that it might be they get that money then you can make a more rounded team rather than they just seem to be waiting on Hazard picking up the ball.

“And by the way as a supporter you love it watching it. You love it watching it.

”But I just think they’re so reliant on this one player.”

Chelsea face defending champions Manchester City at the Etihad tomorrow. Hazard would need to step up if they are to get anything away.

Barcelona’s Record Signing Uninterested In Chelsea Or Manchester United Move

Barcelona's Record Signing Uninterested In Chelsea Or Manchester United Move

Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho has no interest in moving to Chelsea or Manchester United despite drawing constant links with the Premier League clubs.

As reported by Express Sport, the Brazilian is contempt at the Camp Nou after making a record from Liverpool in January 2018. Plenty of reports have emerged in the past claiming Coutinho might be unhappy with his role under Ernesto Valverde.

Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu completely ruled out a potential Nou Camp exit for the attacking midfielder. He told El Partidazo de COPE, “Are we going to consider the sale of Coutinho? No. It’s a club bet. He plays differently, he knows how we play, we do not want to sell Coutinho.”

Barcelona legend, Hristo Stoichkov urgent Coutinho to push through the difficult period just like he did during his time with the La Liga outfit. The former striker said, “Barca isn’t an easy club and during my first few months there, I suffered like you.”

“I know how it feels when things aren’t turning out how you want, but I’m convinced that with hard work and sacrifice you’ll move forward because you have all the quality you need to do that.”

“You are one of the best foreign players to have played for Barca. You’ve got a lot of football in you to give Barca and the only thing you should be thinking about is enjoying your game. Enjoy it like you do with Brazil. I tried to enjoy playing like I always did with Bulgaria and I ended up enjoying myself exactly the same with Barca.”

“Never let yourself be disheartened because, from what I’ve seen, the fans are with you and want to see you succeed. Understand that they’re the best fans in the world and they’ll support you always – like they did with me.”

Eden Hazard Backs N’Golo Kante To Adapt In The New Advanced Role

Eden Hazard Backs N'Golo Kante To Adapt In The New Advanced Role

Eden Hazard believes N’Golo Kante needs to be given more time to adapt in his new role.

The French midfielder has been given a more advanced role since Maurizio Sarri took over the charge. Sarri brought in Jorginho alongside him from Napoli at the start of this season and has used the midfielder in the deep lying role.

Jorginho has been caught out off late in the last few matches but Sarri has ruled out all suggestions to reinstate Kante to his natural role. The former Leicester City holding midfielder has struggled to hit the chord sometimes but the player has been quite regular in the starting lineup this time.

With the top four race getting more intense Chelsea could add a bit more twist if they snatch a point from Manchester City when they visit the defending champions on Sunday.

Hazard said, “N’Golo’s a clever guy, one of the best in his position, maybe the best in the world. N’Golo now plays six months in the different position.

“He needs to adapt. When we win, everyone will say, ‘Yes, he plays in his [best] position, and if we lose everyone will say, ‘No, he needs to go a bit behind’. Depends only on the result.”

On Loan Chelsea Star Must Perform For Newcastle To Regain His Lost Form

On loan Chelsea winger Kenedy has not been able to perform as expected since his arrival at Newcastle United last summer. The player has managed to score just one goal this season so far and has dished out one assist to show for his efforts after making 20 appearances for the Magpies so far this season.

The player has fallen down the pecking order under the tutelage of the Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez and needs to revive his form with the business end of the season coming up. There are 13 matches more to be played for the Tyneside club and the Brazilian ace needs to step up in his role as he did in the last term after his loan move to St James Park from Chelsea for the second half of the season.

His form was exceptional and he contributed with both goals and assists after being left out on the bench by Chelsea for the first half of the last term. However, he has not been able to replicate his form from the last term so far this season for the Magpies and needs to find his form and start delivering positive results for his side.

If Kenedy can do so, it will not only come as a piece of a good news for Rafa Benitez’s men, but it will also help the Brazilian wantaway find his way back from hibernation to a permanent place in the Newcastle United starting eleven.

Sancho tells Chelsea fans what to expect from new signing Christian Pulisic

Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho shares few things the Chelsea fans can expect from their new signing Christian Pulisic.

The American was signed by the Blues during the January transfer window for a fee around £57.6m, but he will arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

He is highly-rated in Germany and Chelsea were convinced to shell the cash on him.

And Sancho, who has become star at Dortmund, thinks Pulisic is one of the better footballers around.

Speaking to ESPN, he said: “The club had shown with a player like Christian Pulisic that they were going in the right way, playing youngsters and giving them a chance. He came from the same situation as me, leaving his family behind.

“He was so young, and he was brave enough. America is a lot further away than England and he’s taken a bigger step than I have done. How he’s handled that, what he does on the pitch, his mentality [towards] football, it’s just crazy. The passion he has. I admire him.

“He’s an outstanding player, I really do look up to him. Him going away from home shows that you have to do things to get out of your comfort zone, sometimes.

“I feel it’s worked for him and it’s working for me now, because we’re both staying focused and keep training hard.”

Chelsea face Manchester City tomorrow at the Etihad. Their fans would be buzzing for the arrival of Pulisic in few months time.

Eden Hazard Insists He Enjoys Playing Under Maurizio Sarri

Eden Hazard Insists He Enjoys Playing Under Maurizio Sarri

Eden Hazard might have just given a clear hint over his imminent future as the forward has insisted he enjoys playing under Maurizio Sarri as they both have the same vision on football.

Hazard’s future has been the subject of speculation and it seems the Belgian forward is on his way to Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are believed to be an avid admirer of the player and have been weighing a move for him for quite a while.

Negotiations for a new contract has been stalled and his contract is up for expire in 18 months. Chelsea may be forced to cash in on the player as they fear the player might see out his existing contract to ease out his move to Madrid.

But Hazard’s recent comment would definitely encourage the club hierarchy. “The manager likes possession! He’s a lot about statistics. Numbers. Possession. Shooting. Goal opportunity. In the past we used to play more counter-attack. It is different with Sarri than with [Antonio] Conte and [Jose] Mourinho.

“Sometimes we keep possession, and I understand the fans want us to go forward, but it is part of the football. We are still learning about his concept. We are doing well. I like this kind of football.

“Sarri is a great manager. He’s an old man [60, meaning experienced] but the way he thinks is the same way I think about football.”
