Chelsea have made a bright start to the new season under boss Frank Lampard.

One stark difference in this team is that they run and press a lot than previous Chelsea teams who preferred to defend in the final third.

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has now revealed that the extra work in the pre-season is finally paying off helping Chelsea do what the boss asks of them. Although not everyone was very happy with all the extra work Lamps made them do earlier!

‘I think a lot of players were a bit upset about how much running we had to do in pre-season, but it’s all paying off now’, he told The Athletic.

‘It all makes sense why we did it, why we had such a hard pre-season.

‘From when the manager came in he told us the style of play, how he wanted us to play, how to press.

‘At first, I couldn’t do it. I had no energy. But as the season has gone on, I’ve got used to it.

‘Now we know what he wants in the press, so for us, it’s about giving defenders no time on the ball – just rushing them.’

Cascarino slammed for praising Chelsea youngsters

Former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino has been slammed for comparing the Chelsea youngster to Manchester United’s class of ’92.

“Chelsea have got an amazing array of talent,” Cascarino said.

“The [Class of] ’92 at Manchester United, what happened at that football club, Sir Alex Ferguson saw that and went with it. That’s what Frank Lampard is doing at Chelsea.

“It’s going to pay huge dividends because a lot of them will get in the England squad.”

He was countered by Goldstein after that.

“[Chelsea have] beaten, so far this season in the league, Southampton, Brighton, Norwich and Wolves – that’s it,” Goldstein said.

“Let me say that again – Southampton, Brighton, Norwich and Wolves.

“Okay, you can only beat what’s in front of you but for Cas to talk about them in the same breath as the ’92, for everyone to get really excited about it…

“When you’ve come up against big-hitters [Chelsea have] lost. You lost against United 4-0, got hammered in that – 4-0 is a tonking, isn’t it?

“Let me come up with another stat, look at the league table. Chelsea, goals for: 18. Goals conceded: 14.

“I’m going to scroll down the league table now to see the next team to have conceded 14 or more – 17th placed Southampton.

“Even Everton, who are in the bottom three, have conceded less goals. This is Chelsea.

“Tony Cascarino’s comparing Chelsea to the [Class of ’92].”

Gareth Bale Handed Offer To Join Chelsea

Gareth Bale Handed Offer To Join Chelsea

Sources claim Chelsea have submitted an offer worth £54m for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.

According to Sport Witness via El Desmarque, the Blues are open to handing the veteran an escape route.

The news outlet claims that Real will use Bale as a bargaining chip for N’Golo Kante, who they want to prize away from Chelsea’s hands anyway. Zinedine Zidane has been left lacking in midfield options this season after a number of injuries to key personnel.

With Marcos Llorente and Matteo Kovacic sold off and Dani Ceballos sent out on loan, there seems to be plenty of space for newer faces. Kante just seems to be one of the very best players in his position – they type of athletes Real likes to attract.

Unfortunately for the Galacticos, Chelsea value Kante way too much and might not be too keen on Bale. Frank Lampard has introduced a new regime where youth talents get priority and Bale just turned 30 with a very tragic injury history.

Chelsea also invested heavily on Christian Pulisic, who they hope to hand over the reins to the right wing spot in the future. For now, we can all treat this rumour for what it actually is – simply a rumour.

Kepa Arrizabalaga Open To Athletic Bilbao Return

Kepa Arrizabalaga Open To Athletic Bilbao Return

Kepa Arrizabalaga is keen on returning to his boyhood club one day.

The shot-stopper became the most expensive player in his position when he made the £71.6m switch from Athletic Bilbao to Chelsea in the summer of 2018.

He has justified that paycheque by overtaking David De Gea to Spain’s number one goalkeeping spot and has also won over Frank Lampard in the Blues jersey.

“Of course I would like to return to Athletic (Bilbao),” he told Spanish football show El Chiringuito. “I don’t know when or how or what, but playing at Athletic obviously I’d like that. I have great memories.”

There was a period in 2018 where his contract was running with Bilbao and he was rumoured to be close to a Real Madrid move.

“For several months my grandma saw more of me in the newspapers than in the flesh,” he continued. “There was a lot of talk about me. I was also injured for a while so it wasn’t a good moment for me.

“My contract was due to expire and from January onwards I was able to start talking to other clubs. I couldn’t see myself joining [another] club. I ended up renewing my contract with the idea of staying, but six months later I left. That was the only contraction.”

The painful journey of RLC and why Chelsea should be happy

As many as six academy graduates played for Chelsea in a big CL night this season.

However, there could be yet another first team addition very soon as Ruben Loftus Cheek nears his return from injury. The player has also opened up on how he felt during the process.

“To be honest I didn’t leave my house much, especially as I’ve been on crutches,” he told WOWHYDRATE.

“I’ve just been playing on my Xbox, I’ve been on holiday once, it wasn’t great as my leg was in the cast so I couldn’t swim and it was really warm.”

“When it happened I turned and pushed off and I heard a clap, it was really loud and I thought someone had smashed me from behind. The referee gave a free-kick, he blew the whistle so he must have been close to me, but watching the tape back nobody was near me.

“As soon as I came out of my cast, I could barely lift my heel off the ground in a sitting position.

“To lift my leg up took maximum effort, with a big injury it’s really hard, you don’t see a difference everyday, you don’t wake up and think it’s a lot better every morning, it’s over a period of time. It’s more exciting the closer I get to making my comeback, the more I keep pushing I will be there soon.

“The big side of injuries is the mental side of it, so I had to stay positive and keep the right mind set. Even a tweet or a message from a fan makes a big difference to me. I’ve been at home with my mum, two brothers and my sister, they needed to look after me a lot, it was hard getting around in my cast. It was quite fun getting my sister to make me food all the time (laughs), my family have been fantastic through that period.

“When you have a good day you get excited, getting that much closer to getting back on the pitch again playing football, getting back in the gym and pushing it, so we will see how it goes.”

Chelsea Leading Race For Ben Chilwell

0
Chelsea Leading Race For Ben Chilwell

According to the latest reports, Chelsea are leading the race for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.

It is hard to ignore the England international’s excellent run of form since last season who seems to have cemented a starting spot under Gareth Southgate.

Previous reports claimed Manchester City were also monitoring the 22-year-old due to Benjamin Mendy’s prolonged injury absences. However, Pep Guardiola addressed the issues this summer by signing Oleksandr Zinchenko to a contract extension and recalling Angelino from PSV Eindhoven.

The English champions will be looking to fix their centre-back spots in the upcoming transfer windows with Aymeric Laporte out injured.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have room for improvement on the left flank. Emerson Palmieri has emerged as a dependable figure in the position but his backup, Marcos Alonso has not.

The latter have put up decent displays recently but his defensive deficiencies still makes him a hard liability at the back. Chilwell would be a definite upgrade, both in terms of pace and youthful resilience.

The only factor hindering Chelsea’s prospects of signing him is the potential price tag. Leicester held out for £80m for Harry Maguire this summer and was willing to wait for more.

In the current market scenario where English players are being sold for five times the value of other foreign players, there is no telling how much Chilwell could cost. It could very well be higher than Maguire’s, given his age and potential.

Craig Burley thinks this Chelsea youngster will have the best future

Chelsea have had a mixed start under Frank Lampard in terms of results. But their youngsters have performed impressively and their quality of football has been appreciated by pundits. Craig Burley thinks this Chelsea youngster will have the best future.

Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount have contributed with goals while Tomori and Gilmour have impressed too. Craig Burley thinks this Chelsea youngster will have the best future.

However, former Chelsea and Scotland midfielder, Craig Burley believes that Callum Hudson-Odoi will have the best future among the young Chelsea crop.

Hudson-Odoi has only just returned from a long term injury. He returned from a serious Achilles injury which he suffered early this year.

But that hasn’t stopped Craig from expecting more from the youngster.

Craig told ESPN, “Well Abraham has impressed me because I did not think would be able to get the return of goals early on, from a player who I think is a little bit limited.”

“He spent time on loan in the Championship at [Aston] Villa and did a decent job. So his goals return is impressive.”

“Mount’s impressed me with his composure and his ability to look as if he’s not fazed.”

But I think ultimately, fitness dependant, Hudson-Odoi could be the best.

“But he needs to put a string of months together without injury because he’s coming off a bad injury.”

Chelsea want-away striker Olivier Giroud is MLS-bound in January

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is considering five potential destinations before his contract expires next year.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud could be a free agent next summer and the 33-year-old is already attracting attention of other clubs. The Frenchman has only scored one goal in his five appearances this season and as a result the striker has found himself playing back-up to Tammy Abraham.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has put his faith in the 22-year-old and as Giroud is in the final year of his contract other clubs are now looking at what the World Cup winner might offer them next year.

And according to Sportsnet 650 journalist Dan Riccio, MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps have contracted the veteran striker about a possible transfer. After a disastrous season on and off the pitch, the Vancouver Whitecaps know major changes are needed for next season.

However, the reports states that the 33-year-old is only considering a move to MLS for Los Angeles, Miami, Washington, New York, or Chicago.

Giroud, a World Cup winner with France last year, would have been the biggest name ever signed by the Whitecaps. Though they seem unlikely to attract him, the mere fact that the Whitecaps are attempting to sign a player of his profile is a great sign, because he will not come cheap.

Whitecaps ownership has long been criticized for their reluctance to spend money on high-end talent. Vancouver’s payroll was the lowest in MLS when figures became public in June, though they since signed Ali Adnan to a contract rumored to be worth more than $1.8 million per season.

Emerson Likely To Sign Contract Extension And Ignore Juventus Interests

Sky Italy claims Chelsea have offered left-back, Emerson Palmieri a new contract.

The Brazilian has won his place in the starting lineup after Frank Lampard took charge of the club.

He featured heavily during the early part of the season, proving to be a serious threat down the left wing. Unfortunately, an injury ruled him out of action since the last international break and it is unclear at this point when he will return.

The Blues are leaving nothing on the table this season after enduring a tough summer, enforced by the two-window transfer ban. They have already signed Callum Hudson-Odoi to a new deal to put an end to Bayern Munich’s interests.

They are also looking to secure the services of star forward, Tammy Abraham. Whether it is a good decision to extend that same favour to Emerson cannot be said for certain.

Reports claim Maurizio Sarri is eager to reunite with Emerson after managing him last season at Chelsea. Juventus already have Alex Sandro in his position and Emerson can hope for a backup spot, at best.

Chelsea are having to make do with Marcos Alonso right now and rumours suggest, they could target Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell once, the transfer ban gets over.

Tammy Abraham Waiting To Be Rewarded With New And Improved Deal

Tammy Abraham Waiting To Be Rewarded With New And Improved Deal

Reputable sources claim that Tammy Abraham is close to signing a new deal with Chelsea.

The English forward has impressed many with his scoring record in his debut season with the Blues.

Abraham is leading the Premier League scoring charts with 8 goals in 8 games played so far. He has also netted the ball once in the Champions League.

The 22-year-old has taken the opportunity provided by Frank Lampard with full intent. He has not only cemented his spot in the starting XI but has also proven to be a key element in Chelsea’s attacking style.

The West London outfit recently handed out new deals to other Academy graduates, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi. Their newly introduced regime of promoting youth talent has worked out well so far.

Lampard has already unearthed gems in Mason Mount, Abraham and Fikayo Tomori with Reece James and Billy Gilmour showing good potential. The manager seems to be building this team around a young British core of players, amongst which Abraham is one of the senior-most figures.

It will only be a step in the right direction if the deal is concluded soon enough. Chelsea return to action on 19 October against Newcastle United.
