Ruben Loftus-Cheek Had To Learn How To Walk Again Post Injury

Ruben Loftus-Cheek revealed to the Chelsea fans the agony of having to learn to walk again past his Achilles tendon injury.

The midfielder had to undergo surgery after tearing his Achilles and has been recovering since May.

He is still ways away from making his return to the pitch but the progress in the rehabilitation room has been positive. He said, “I’ve had to learn to walk again and I’ve only just got pain free but for sure I’m going to come back stronger, sharper and do whatever I can to be in better shape.

“Before I got injured I was playing my best football. I’ve missed feeling tired from running, from hard work, that feeling of being in a game again. Everything I’ve been working towards is for the feeling of stepping back onto that pitch again and I’m ready to go.”

The 23-year-old continued, “When it happened I turned and pushed off and I heard a clap, it was really loud and I thought someone had smashed me from behind. The referee gave a free-kick, he blew the whistle so he must have been close to me, but watching the tape back nobody was near me.

“As soon as I came out of my cast, I could barely lift my heel off the ground in a sitting position.

“To lift my leg up took maximum effort, with a big injury it’s really hard, you don’t see a difference everyday, you don’t wake up and think it’s a lot better every morning, it’s over a period of time. It’s more exciting the closer I get to making my comeback, the more I keep pushing I will be there soon.”

Why Lampard would not have signed Pulisic

Why Lampard would not have signed Pulisic

Christian Pulisic did not get off to the best start at Chelsea. Many pundits and fans have been left perplexed at Lampard’s decision to not play the American.

In latest news, Chris Sutton believes Frank Lampard, the current Chelsea boss would not gave even signed the former Borussia Dortmund star.

“Well I think [Pulisic] has to prove himself,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Frank Lampard has no agenda against him, he’s picking the best possible team to win games of football.

“That’s his job, he wasn’t Frank’s signing of course.

“[They’ve got Callum] Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount coming to the fore, he’s going to have a major issue getting into the starting line-up.

“I really do think that, I don’t see a way in for him at the moment. £58m, a lot of money to spend.

“It would be interesting to ask Frank now would he sign him at this moment in time if they hadn’t signed him before? The answer to that I think is pretty obvious – he wouldn’t.

“But there’s a reason Chelsea spent the money on him, he’s still a young man and he’s obviously got enormous talent – you have to go out and show it.

“But it’s good for Frank in terms of strength in depth.”

Harry Kane The Best In The World – Tammy Abraham

Harry Kane The Best In The World - Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham has no problem calling his compatriot and national team competitor, Harry Kane – the very best in the world.

Abraham has been able to win a regular spot at Chelsea this season and also a callup to the Three Lions senior side.

His 8-Premier-League-goal clinch is hard for Gareth Southgate to ignore but Kane remains the outright starter for England. The Tottenham Hotspur forward has scored 5 Premier League goals so far and has been consistent in his duties despite his team’s recent shortcomings.

“For me, he’s the greatest striker in the world. I would put him up there. I was talking to [Chelsea and England midfielder] Ross Barkley the other day and said I’ve never seen a finisher like him,” Abraham said to the London Evening Standard.

“Ross was saying him, Jermain Defoe, and all sorts. But when you look at Harry Kane, if he gets a chance in the box, nine times out of 10, it’s a goal. So I’ll go there learn off him and hopefully be like him.”

That’s one of the best attitudes a young rising star can have but all Chelsea fans would love to see their wonderboy dethrone Kane in the national team as well. Abraham’s tally has so far, been superior than Kane’s and the 22-year-old has the entire season to prove his case to Southgate.

Overall, if it is Kane he is trying to emulate, Chelsea supporters can rest easy about Abraham’s Blues future.

Robert Green: Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri mistreated Callum Hudson-Odoi

The youngster failed to convince Sarri he was worthy of a regular starting berth.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Green says Callum Hudson-Odoi is a level above the other young players in Frank Lampard’s squad. Hudson-Odoi notched up an assist on his first Premier League start since April as the Blues won 4-1 away at Southampton on Sunday.

Maurizio Sarri’s reluctance to give Callum Hudson-Odoi regular Premier League minutes left Chelsea’s first-team stars scratching their heads. But former Blues boss Sarri handed him just 10 appearances in the league last season, with six of those coming off the bench.

The youngster has been injured for much of this season so far, but has already played in almost a third the amount of minutes under new boss Frank Lampard as he did last campaign.

Despite being only 18 years old, the player was lauded by the former Chelsea stopper Rober Green as “consistently the best in training”, claiming he was blown away by the youngster last year.

“He is a confident lad, really happy just playing his football and he has got such a brilliant mind for playing,” Green told BBC Radio 5Live. “I would say he’s a level above Abraham, Mount and Tomori.

“We were in the dressing room last season and the players were saying ‘how is he not playing?’

“He was going out in training and, some of the best defenders in the world, tearing them apart. He would be consistently the best trainer in training, some of the best players in the world would be standing there applauding what he was doing.

“There is no such thing as nerves for him. He just tries anything he wants and, because he is that good, it will usually come off.”

The former Chelsea defender and club legend is a coach of the U-15 side.

Former Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole has made a winning start to his career as a coach, with a debut win as the Blues’ U-15 coach.

The young Chelsea players came out as Champions of the U-15 international tournament, and the Ex-England international, who announced his retirement from playing football after leaving Derby County in the summer, has taken to social media to show his delight at the success of his players and fellow coaches.

“Great start to my coaching career,” he tweeted.

“Buzzing for the boys they we’re brilliant throughout, and also thanks to the other coaches who have helped me, frank O’Brien Ian Howell and Harvey great job guys.”

Cole made 338 appearances during a eight year career at Stamford Bridge, playing alongside current Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard both at club and international level.

The left-back went onto play for Roma and LA Galaxy before rejoining his former teammate Lampard at Derby County in January 2019. The two have again teamed up in the coaching team with the Blues.

He joined Chelsea in controversial circumstances in 2006, swapping the Emirates Stadium for Stamford Bridge, much to the annoyance of many Gunners’ fans. The full-back is still regarded as one of the best ever left-backs in the world, having made a total of 687 career appearances.

Tomori opens up on clash incident with Diego Costa

Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has opened up on his clash incident with Diego Costa back in 2015. The Englishman, then a school boy and an academy player, had been invited to train with the first team by interim boss Guss Hiddink.

The two players clashed during the training session, with Costa emerging with a broken nose. The Spaniard then had to wear a proactive mask and scored a goal in Chelsea’s 5-1 victory over Newcastle on the weekend.

“I was actually still in school and I didn’t know I had done it in training,” Tomori said.

“It was an accident, we both went up for a header and I had to flick the ball backwards and he tried to score. He headed the back of my head and he broke his nose. I didn’t know I had done it until the next day when it was all over the papers.”

“I was getting a lot of messages with people thinking I had meant to do it! It was mostly light-hearted, a lot of banter. I got back to school and people were asking about it. I was in year 10 or 11 and my mates had all seen it.

“It was all right. He didn’t kick me in training after that.”

“Yeah, I wasn’t really expecting [Luiz to leave]. I came in this season just kind of trying to improve myself and give myself the best chance to play in the Premier League. Obviously playing for Chelsea is what I’ve been doing since I was seven years old, so it’s nice it’s happened this way.”

“I know the manager has that faith in me and he’s showed me that faith last season and this year. I’ve just tried to work hard, and I knew coming back for pre-season I would have to take myself up a couple of levels and I was going to have to learn from other people. So that’s what I’ve been doing, but I want to carry on and keep improving.”

Unsettled Christian Pulisic may seek an exit from Chelsea in January

The American could leave Chelsea.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic is said to be considering his future at the club, and could force a January move following continued snub from coach Frank Lampard.

The American arrived at the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer in a reported fee or around €65 million and was seen as a direct replacement of the then departing Eden Hazard.

The 21-year-old has however been overlooked and was an unused substitute for the last three Premier League games.

He was then omitted entirely from the Champions League squad away to Lille, with the likes of Willian, Pedro, Odoi and Mason Mount all seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.

Lampard has addressed his situation before, urging him to work harder in training to merit a start.

“I spoke to him two days before the Grimsby game and was very clear about the standards and we have to give him the fact that he’s moved country and moved leagues,” said Lampard.

“He’s as young as all the young players we keep talking about. He’s just turned 21. So I think everyone if anyone is getting too excited about this they should calm down because he’s started five games for us,”

Fans have shown their frustrations over his treatment, with many calling for him to be given equal chances like the rest of the wingers to prove himself.

Alan Shearer heaps praise on Willian following Southampton win

BBC Pundit and former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer was full of praise for Chelsea’s players following their 4-1 win against Southampton on the weekend.

Chelsea racked up a 4-1 scoreline to cap off yet another exciting performance under Frank Lampard. Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, N’Golo Kante and Michy Batshuyayi were on the scoresheet and garnered a lot of praise for their impressive performances.

“They are not bad at all. They have three very exciting players, the energy they have, the link-up play and of course the understanding, they ran riot all afternoon and they weren’t too far away from each other,” he said, speaking on BBC programme Match of the Day 2.

“What a pass from [Callum] Hudson-Odoi [for the first goal], the run from [Tammy] Abraham, the finish is superb. Mason Mount actually won the header [for the second goal] and what I like about it is he wants to be involved, he doesn’t stand and admire it. Willian was exceptional all afternoon as well.”

“The second half didn’t change. They were a threat all afternoon, Abraham and Mount in the full England squad, Hudson-Odoi back from injury and England U21 so it looks very good for them.”

Chelsea will be in action against Newcastle following the international break.

Why Nicolo Barella passed on opportunity to sign for Chelsea

Italy star Nicolo Barella was in talks to sign for Chelsea.

Chelsea were linked with Nicolo Barella during the first half of last season, with Barella shaping up as some combination of a replacement for Cesc Fabregas, a deputy for Jorginho and a replacement for N’Golo Kante.

Compared to the other two players the Blues signed at Maurizio Sarri’s behest, Barella would have been a useful addition to the squad, although not at the eventual expense of Kante and not given what has shaped up as a glut of midfielders under Frank Lampard.

The Italian star had established himself as one of Cagliari’s key players and decided to stay at his boyhood club until the end of the season. The move obviously never happened, but Barella is still getting a chance to share in a recent Chelsea experience by spending the season with Antonio Conte at Inter Milan, who have an obligation to buy in his loan contract.

“Chelsea had been looking to sign me in January, the negotiations were concrete. At Cagliari I said: ‘It is not an easy time for the team, I will stay until the end of the season. Then I will make a decision'”, reflecting on the speculation linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge, Barella told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Barella has made a fine start to his career in Milan, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 13 appearances this season. Discussing his relationship with former Chelsea boss Conte, the Italy international added:

“Conte has a different attitude, a way of talking to you that gives you something new.

“I would die for him, that applies to all his players. And that makes the difference. Do you see how Conte’s teams run? It is not only because they are well prepared. It is the outcome of what he puts in your head”, he concluded.

Frank Lampard talks about talks about Tomori

Frank Lampard is impressed by youngster Fikayo Tomori and says that his consistency is the most important element for his induction in the first team.

Manager Lampard considers him a pet project and he is keeping a close eye on him.

“Yes, he is a project in a way but a nice one because everything you want him to do, he stands up and delivers.”

Chelsea wanted to loan him out in the summer, as he was a fringe player during the pre-season. Everton was interested. But as Chelsea sold David Luiz to Arsenal, the manager decided to keep him.

He was still a back-up choice. But injuries to fellow teammates and his good form since his first-team debut against Sheffield United has made him an important player for the team.

The 21-year-old was on loan at Derby County last season and was being coached by Frank Lampard.

Talking about Fikayo, Lampard said, “He was quiet at Derby. He was quite quiet with me – he wasn’t quiet when they were all together.”

“From a distance. He has definitely got personality.”

“He became very popular in the dressing room and popular with the fans because of his performances.”

“Fikayo was Player of the Year. The progression was huge but the main thing I saw in him was work ethic. He quietly goes about his business. He trains hard, everything you ask him to do he tries to do and more. Physically he is great – we know that.”

“And I think that has really shown itself in his performances since he stepped into the team. I put trust in him early in the season – I think that was obvious with the way the pre-season went with the centre-backs. At the moment, he has really delivered and long may that continue.”

“I think there is a lot more to come still. You don’t know until you put players in. Against Sheffield United at home was a game where I thought he deserved his opportunity for his training, how he trained.”

“That is a great message to all the players: how you train will relate to whether you get picked. Those are the rules here. You have to train at a level. And he trained so well for a period of time he deserved it against Sheffield United and then he gave me a big problem because he played so well and he has continued to do that.”

Frank Lampard seems impressed. And fans are happy with him!
