David Silva has said that he is not surprised with how Frank Lampard has taken to management.

“I could see a manager in him when he was here. He was an incredible player, a world-class player,” said Silva, who will bring his City career to an end after this season.

“The way he played, as well as his experience in football, now he transmits it to his players. He is showing it already, he is going to be a fantastic manager.

“I’m not surprised [how well he’s done so quickly]. He has clear ideas and he is doing very well. What matters is that he has been given the opportunity and he’s making the most of it.”

“I think so. Even though it’s Lampard’s first season, they are playing really well,” Silva added.

“They are there in the title race. It will be a beautiful game: two attacking teams that want to keep the ball and score goals. It’s going to be an entertaining game for the fans.

“Abraham is playing really well, like the rest of his team. They have players that they are doing really well and helping him.

“They have also a bunch of young players and, when the team plays well, it’s always easier for them to shine.”

Chelsea boss Pep Guardiola has high words of praise for Frank Lampard

The Spaniard, who was promoted from Barcelona B to take over the first team by president Joan Laporta in 2008, said: ‘In those terms you could say there’s a comparison, but it’s too early. He’s just done one-and-a-half years, I’ve done longer as I’m older but he has the future in his hands.

‘I would say that if you know the club it’s an advantage. He knows Chelsea, the media, the fans, and for the fact when I arrived, not many people trusted me. The president, sporting director but not many.

‘I think Chelsea over many years have been an incredible top team, but from the beginning (of the season) his team has played good.

‘They were consistent with his ideas, the results are theirs. I’m happy for him. I know him a little bit, I know when he was here he was an excellent person. For English football, it’s great when young English guys take over, he’s perfect for English football. It’s good.’

‘Maybe Frank is similar. When nobody trusts you it’s perfect. You are going to turn the opinions of the people round.

I think that situation helped to use those players,’ added the City boss. ‘But Chelsea invested a lot in the last decade, good talent from all over Europe. Then you have to find space for the players they have, the quality was always there. They insisted and brought young talent, and in the end they were there because the quality is there.’

A few weeks ago there was just two and it was impossible for the rest,’ he said. ‘Now it’s four (teams) and maybe six in a few days. It’s a long time to go and we’ll see.’

Lampard reveals what Mourinho can do at Tottenham

Lampard reveals what Mourinho can do at Tottenham
Bildbyran

It was the Jose Mourinho effect at Chelsea back in 2005 that created a goal scoring beast in Frank Lampard.

13 years later Jose is in charge of a new team who are just as hungry and Lampard has revealed how Jose can repeat the same trick with Tottenham.

“What Jose did when he came to the club was give me a real self-confidence. He has a lot of that himself, we all see that, but he’s got a really good way of transmitting that to the players,” Lampard told a news conference.

“He took me as a bit of a project because I think I was slightly within myself at that point in terms of how I believe in myself, and he gave me great encouragement and bonded a real team spirit at the club where we hadn’t won anything and he wanted to make us winners and we really bought into that.

“I’m sure it’s a different situation now but that was my experience of it. He will look to inspire the players that he works with now as we all do. That’s part of his job, out on the training pitch and then some of it is how much you can do man-to-man.”

What Exactly Petr Cech Does At Chelsea

0
What Exactly Petr Cech Does At Chelsea

Petr Cech explained to us what exactly his role is in the Chelsea backroom.

He hung up his boots with Arsenal last season and immediately returned to a management position with his former side.

There was some confusion over what exactly Cech did in his new job taking on the title of a technical advisor. The 37-year-old is reported to be working directly under Chelsea’s chief transfer negotiator, Marina Granovskaia.

He further explained the torment he felt over not being able to participate in Chelsea games. “The match days are the hardest,” Cech says. “For 20 years you work all week for the game. In my role you work the whole week for the game. But then I don’t have any participation in that game. It’s a very strange feeling.

“I used to be in the middle of it all and now I work towards the game, making sure everything works, and then the responsibility is to the manager and his staff, not me. I can only sit and support.

“As a player I hated the games I had to watch from the stands because I had no impact. This is the feeling I have to overcome. I am getting better. The more games you go to, the more you get used to the fact the match days are not about you. At the start it was a struggle. You want to be in there. But it was not for me any more.”

He continued, “As a goalkeeper you see everything. The biggest part of my game was I could organise people to make my job much easier. You pay attention to why things are organised a certain way. You talk to people at the club. I was always a representative of the team talking to the board. I was always interested in how the club worked.

“I am getting my own ideas about what could work better. Generally when you work with a lot of different people at this level it is run by departments. But there are a lot. The best part for me is connecting the departments. This is my biggest target, to make sure everything is connected and works one way.

“The first team is the most important. But then we have the scouting, recruitment, the development squad, players who are on loan. All this works together. It will give the first team a much better platform and [let] the manager have an easier job and concentrate only on the pitch. This is something we have been trying to create. So far this season we have been working well.”

“The manager with his coaching staff has done a remarkable job,” Cech says. “They managed to integrate players in the team. The senior players were a huge help for the young players. They help them become better and keep them grounded. And the biggest part is the coaching staff and the manager because he sets the tone on the training ground. He takes the biggest credit.”

Cech smiled over Lampard’s disciplinary system which fines players £20,000 if they turn up late for pratice. The former goalkeeper added, “Some people find it surprising but we have always had huge fines at Chelsea. The commitment to work is really important. To respect the rules is something where you need no talent. You can have zero talent, but you can be on time. It is about commitment. This is not to scare people. It is just to remind them that if you can control your discipline the better it will be for everybody.”

Frank Lampard Takes A Jibe At Jose Mourinho Over His New Position

Frank Lampard Takes A Jibe At Jose Mourinho Over His New Position

Frank Lampard has not been shy to go against his former boss and current Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho.

The pair have always been in good terms after their successful period in Chelsea as player and coach.

But when he was asked if he would ever take charge of Spurs, Lampard replied in amusement, “I can firmly say no. It wouldn’t happen.”

It all boiled down from Mourinho initially saying he would never join Tottenham when he was still in charge of Chelsea. The 56-year-old seems to have gone back on his words when he decided to put pen to paper on a Spurs contract.

“Things are different, José Mourinho’s worked for a lot of football clubs,” he added. “I played here for 13 years and have an absolutely deep feeling for the club.

“Chelsea certainly are very close to my heart, hence I am so proud to manage this club and hence I wouldn’t manage Tottenham. Some things you wouldn’t do because of what Chelsea have given me over my time here as a player, what they’ve given me now.”

Chelsea sit in the third spot while Mourinho has been tasked with lifting Tottenham out of the bottom half of the table.

Frank Lampard Was Worried Manchester City Stint Would Tarnish His Chelsea Legacy

Frank Lampard Was Worried Manchester City Stint Was Tarnish His Chelsea Legacy

Frank Lampard admitted he was worried about ruining his Chelsea legacy once he took the pitch for Manchester City.

The former Blues player will be returning to the Etihad Stadium as a manager after leaving them in 2015.

Lampard spent 13 years of his career at Stamford Bridge but was always concerned about his reputation once he left. He said, “Maybe [the relationship reached a new level], yeah. I think the reaction of me going to City was something I was concerned about, I’m not going to lie after 13 years here. I wondered at 36 whether the year there was something that I should take on because of what I feel about this club.

“My professional head and the challenge of it and the period I had where I wasn’t going to be playing games for New York all came together and made me take a decision which was quite tough at the time. To then see the feeling I got from the Chelsea fans was an emotional thing for me and it hasn’t stopped from that day.”

Lampard had received an emotional response from the Chelsea crowd when he returned to play in West London in a City jersey. His manager, Pep Guardiola did not share those emotions as he said, “Frank Lampard is a Man City player. When he decided to go to a direct competitor then love stories are over.”

Lampard added, “At the time I didn’t feel it was quite right. I think it was directly after the match. I think the emotions of the match where I scored the equalising goal can affect the comment or type of comment.

“The love story or not is always decided by the fans and the club. I think it’s proven now I am managing the club. I think a lot of people understood how I felt about Chelsea and always did and always will do regardless of the year at Manchester City.”

Kepa Arrizabalaga and his unpredictability

0
Kepa Arrizabalaga and his unpredictability

Kepa Arrizabalaga has been in the news for quite some time now. He made news when he was roped in by the Blues from Athletic Bilbao. At 10, the Spaniard  joined Athletic Bilbao’s youth academy. Those who saw him playing at the academy could realise that this lad was destined to become the next big thing in the world of football. He had a sound technique. Also, his ability to not lose track of the ball made him a potent weapon back then.

Over the years, he has been able to hone his skills. Whenever the opposition’s attacking line launches an attack in search of a scoring opportunity, Kepa Arrizabalaga makes them bite the dust. Chelsea roped him into the side after Petr Cech retired. Kepa stepped into his shoes and ended up gaining a lot of attention owing to his strong on-field displays. If you wish to catch him in action, then get your Chelsea FC tickets booked as soon as you can. Hurry up! Tickets are selling out at a rate of knots.

In August 2018, he made headlines after becoming the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of the Premier League. Chelsea FC had paid US$91 million in order to acquire the then 23-year-old’s services. Arrizabalaga broke Premier League’s transfer record just days after Allison had shifted base to Liverpool. In February 2019, Kepa was fined a week’s wages for refusing to listen to Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri. The incident happened while Chelsea were playing against Manchester City during the final of the League Cup.

What makes Arrizabalaga special?

His aggression

Kepa is a naturally aggressive lad. Well, being aggressive is something that just cannot be taught. It is more of something that comes rather naturally to you. Arrizabalaga is aggressive. Throw him a challenge, and he will come out all guns blazing. Aggression, more often than not, happens to be a double-edged sword. At times, it tends to backfire. Arrizabalaga has seen the repercussions of ‘untamed’ aggression. He doesn’t think about it too much because that is the way he plays. His fans and other enthusiasts are free to either love him or hate him for that.

He can nullify the attacks launched by the opposition’s forward line

Arrizabalaga is brimming with talent. He can nullify the attack launched by the opposition in no time whatsoever. No matter how skilled the forwards are, Kepa will not let them score if he is on song. Also, his strength comes from his self-belief. If he thinks he can, then he certainly does. All in all, he is a man having an incredibly firm resolve. You cannot keep him quiet for too long. The moment he senses that an attack is being launched, he will do whatever he possibly can in an attempt to nullify its impact. To put things simply, he is quite unpredictable. One moment, he’s brilliant. Just a few moments later, he’s not.

His towering presence

A height in excess of six feet makes him a ‘towering’ presence on the field. He can turn games single-handedly by denying scoring opportunities to the opposition. Also, he doesn’t mind facing criticism. The moment you think he is down and out, he’ll bounce back.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is an exciting young talent. At 25, he has a lot of experience under his belt. Those following the Spaniard closely know that Kepa Arrizabalaga symbolises the two extremes. On one hand, he can be seen messing up the easiest of saves, while on the other he can be seen making some spectacular saves that end up turning the course of the game.

Olivier Giroud Wants January Move To Italy

Olivier Giroud Wants January Move To Italy

Olivier Giroud has been completely outcasted by Frank Lampard and the Chelsea forward wants to leave in January.

Italian news sources claim the Frenchman has grown frustrated and has told the club about his intentions.

Giroud was a popular option for Lampard early on in the season as Tammy Abraham’s backu. The 33-year-old was already unhappy with that role and now, to be completely dropped in the pecking order has infuriated him.

He has done well to keep his emotions under the tarps and hit out at Chelsea publicly. Lampard also might be open to letting Giroud walk. Michy Batshuayi has been decent as a backup striker and could really see of the rest of the season.

Nicolo Schira of Di Marzio claims that Giroud’s prefered destination is Inter Milan. It was Antonio Conte who originally got him to Chelsea and the Frenchman would like a reunion.

The questionable point of this report is Inter Milan are pretty stocked up themselves. They have two starting forwards in Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku, who are guaranteed starters and in top form. Giroud will be sure to have a hard time breaking into the starting lineup.

PSG Wanted Me – Eden Hazard

PSG-Wanted-Me-Eden-Hazard

Eden Hazard revealed that he was approached plenty of times by Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain.

The Belgian was heavily linked to PSG before his reported €100m move to Real Madrid. He had only a year left on his contract with Chelsea when he opted for the switch.

“No, never,” he told L’Equipe when asked if he would ever join PSG. “They’ve often wanted to sign me. I didn’t want to come back to Ligue 1 and with another club to Lille. I always told them no. In my head, it was clear.

“They’re a club who can help you win the Champions League, but they were not in my plans. If I come back to Ligue 1, it will be with Lille.”

Hazard has struggled to impress in Spain and has even been accused of being overweight. The 28-year-old denied those suggestions, telling Sky Sports: “For the last month, I’ve been in good condition with no injuries. I’m in good shape. When I’m on the pitch I will always try to do my best, with Real Madrid or Belgium. I just want to keep this momentum.”

Madrid are due to go up against Real Sociedad in LaLiga on Saturday before facing PSG in the Champions League next Tuesday.

John Terry defends Jose Mourinho over crucial Chelsea mistakes

John Terry defends Jose Mourinho over crucial Chelsea mistakes

Jose Mourinho’s decision to not play Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah has been defended by John Terry. In a weird way, albeit.

The former Chelsea captain, said that De Bruyne and Salah at that time were not ready to be Chelsea players.

“In my generation now I see people like Salah and Kevin De Bruyne come through and not being able to match his standards at the time,” the Aston Villa No 2 told Dubai Eye radio.

“Now they were very talented but very young individuals as well. But Mourinho didn’t have time to put them in the team or take out a Duff or Robben because we was winning every single week and his job is on the line.

However, Terry seemed to lost track of when these two entered the Chelsea team.

“So, like I said before if you come in and you are 10 or 20 per cent below the standard of Duff and Robben who were scoring 20 goals a season each. You are not gonna make that team, no chance.

“Fair play to them they’ve gone away elsewhere and proved they’re good enough but at that present time they wasn’t good enough for Chelsea.”
