Lampard dealt major blow as Barcelona foil Chelsea’s transfer plans

Lampard dealt major blow as Barcelona foil Chelsea's transfer plans

The current situation in football has maybe not yet officially ended the season but has definitely put a stop to it for now.

This has put everyone first of all to stay in safety and next, wait for football to resume. Assuming things will not start anytime before any time before June-July, football will pick up right in the middle of a transfer period and we can bet you it will be chaos. Players running out of contracts, clubs chasing other players, no planning for the last three months, no guarantee of performances, stock markets down and hence maybe player values as well?

Well one club who it could favor is Chelsea. The Blues are primarily in the market to buy players. They have even outlined most of their targets and one of the targets Lampard wants is Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. Although the Nou Camp goalie has a contract till 2022, it is reported that he is not wanted by team-mates and hence, Chelsea were hoping to swoop in for him right in the middle of a transfer market in summer.

However, the Blues have been dealt a blow now as Barcelona in the midst of their fight against falling economy and coronavirus threats, are readying an extension for Ter Stegen’s contract with better pay!

It might convince the German custodian to stay put at a club where he has won so much and thereby Lampard could be left disappointed.

Chelsea have no way of even starting up negotiation given the condition in Europe right now and this might be a huge hit for the Blues as quality goalkeepers are hard to come by.

Chelsea Find Suitors For Michy Batshuayi But Not At £45m

Chelsea Find Suitors For Michy Batshuayi But Not At £45m

Chelsea value Michy Batshuayi at a daunting sum of £45m despite the striker failing to perform this season.

Frank Lampard has given the Belgian chance after chance to prove himself over a seasoned veteran like Olivier Giroud but was proven wrong every time.

Crystal Palace are interested in the 26-year-old but they are not willing to pay such a high sum for him. The Blues paid £35m for Batshuayi whereas the Eagles are ready to pay £20m. Batshuayi makes close to £100,000-per-week at Chelsea at £4.68m-per-year. He could prized out to Selhurst Park on improved terms but Chelsea will have to budge on their asking price.

Crystal Palace are struggling to score goals without an in form striker. They lost Cenk Tosun to a season-ending knee injury and Christian Benteke still scores once in a bluemoon (1 in 21 games). Conor Wickham has been sent down to Sheffield Wednesday after struggling to find his shooting boots. While Roy Hodgson has done a decent job of keeping the Eagles away from relegation, he will need to make squad improvements to continue delivering the same results.

As for Chelsea, they are more than happy to do away with Batshuayi to make way for a new face. Tammy Abraham has been the sole goalscoring threat upfront with Giroud filling in as a sporadic option. Due to this, the team’s performance has been inconsistent upfront, leaving Lampard with a lack of options in attack.

Former Scottish player Graeme Souness urges Chelsea to sign Jan Oblak

Former Scottish player Graeme Souness urges Chelsea to sign Jan Oblak

Graeme Souness has called on Chelsea to make an attempt to sign Atletico de Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Souness asked the RTE studio this week, as cited by Metro: “Do we know how old he is? (the studio replies that he is 27) There you go Chelsea! They are looking for a goalkeeper. He’s been a top man for a long time.”

Indeed, last month it was claimed that the Blues are prepared to offer €30m for Oblak, with former Athletic Club Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa thrown into the deal. Kepa replaced Thibaut Courtois as the club’s number one – with the Belgian international instead moving to Real Madrid – and has established himself as the team’s number one shot-stopper.

However, Willy Caballero, 38, replaced Kepa between the sticks for Lampard’s side in recent weeks including crucial games against Leicester, Manchester United, Tottenham and Bayern Munich.

Kepa has often been selected as the Spanish national team goalkeeper ahead of Manchester United’s David De Gea and this development is causing concerns for fans of La Roja ahead of this summer’s European Championships.

There’s more and more speculation than ever that Willian might be taking off from the Blues, come this summer, as the interest in him goes up across several clubs in Europe.

One of those clubs is Juventus. Maurizio Sarri is extremely keen on having the 31-year old on to the Italian side, back for a renunion. Willian has no new deal with Chelsea yet, and can leave on a free transfer in the summer.

However, the winger has expressed his desire to stay in England for the next few years. His whole family is settled here and he doesn’t want to leave them. Chelsea can only offer two years of extended contract for Willian, but he wants three years. For a player of his age, the fact that Chelsea are even offering him two years, shows how much he is valued at Stamford Bridge.

Along with Arsenal and Tottenham, Juventus has also joined the transfer race for Willian – according to Italian news publication, Tuttosport via Daily Mail. Maurizio Sarri, the former Blues coach, is now the boss at Juventus and he very much is looking to reunite with Willian at Juventus this time.

Although, it is not clear if Juventus is completely ready to offer a three-year deal, like Willian wants. It still looks likely that Willian might to stay with the Blues, especially since Frank Lampard has stated he wants the 31 year old winger to stay back.

Lampard is lurking at his rivals.

Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Manchester United‘s young starlet Angel Gomes when his contract expires at the end of the season. The 19-year-old is yet to agree terms on a new deal, and Chelsea could snap him up on a free transfer in the summer.

Gomes is considered one of the brightest talents in British football, having captained the England Under-19 side to World Cup glory in 2018. However, he has made just five appearances in all competitions this season, with fellow academy graduates Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams both seeing considerably more first team football.

According to Metro, United are desperate to hang onto the youngster, but his lack of opportunities in the first team and concerns over his pathway into the senior side are proving to be a sticking point. The club have offered the midfielder a contract of around £25,000 in a bid to keep him at Old Trafford. With the proposed new deal stalling and Gomes’ future in doubt, Chelsea are preparing to swoop in and take advantage of the situation.

The Blues are willing to match United’s proposed deal, but will offer him an all-important shot at the first team. Although it would be a free transfer, Chelsea would still have to pay United a compensation fee, as Gomes is under 24.

Looks like Olivier Giroud was quite happy with the offer he got from Lazio.

Chelsea have had Giroud for a long time now, but it’s not necessary that he will stay on with the Blues. In January, he had to really fight for some game time, as Lampard employed the use of youngster Tammy Abraham in most of the first half of the season’s games.

That was rather unfair and talks of Giroud leaving Chelsea flared up at the start of the year. But recently, Giroud has returned to the pitch, since Tammy Abraham has been out with any injury for a while. He has proved himself and the Blues clearly don’t want to let go of the French striker now.

The striker’s most likely move was rumoured to be to Inter Milan. However, Italian club Lazio had their eyes set on Olivier Giroud – are still interested, and very likely to return with a potential bid this summer.

Giroud’s deal with Chelsea will end this summer, so no wonder Lazio has started prepping for their offer already.

“Yes, of course,” he answered when asked whether he would consider signing an extension.

“And after I think I have two, three nice seasons in front of me. It’s not the time to talk about contracts. But one more time I will take a decision when it comes.”

Hakim Ziyech Wants To Bring Andre Onana To Chelsea Next Summer

Hakim Ziyech Wants To Bring Andre Onana To Chelsea Next Summer

Hakim Ziyech wants his Ajax teammate, Andre Onana to join him at Chelsea from the next season.

The Blues completed a £37m transfer of Ziyech in February, making the 26-year-old Frank Lampard’s first signing as Chelsea boss.

Newer faces are likely to follow next summer if they plan on winning silverware in the future. One position that needs serious attention might be the goalkeeper post. Despite spending a record sum of £71.6m, Chelsea have not been able to find a favourable shot-stopper in Kepa Arrizibalaga.

The Spaniard was dropped for several games after a run of poor displays under Lampard. A 38-year-old William Caballero proved to be far too incompetent for Kepa to be recalled back in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Andre Onana has built up his reputation after 5 seasons with Ajax. The former Barcelona youth product helped the Dutch side reach the Champions League semi-finals through his heroics in goal. He is regarded as one of the top goalkeepers outside of Europe’s top five leagues.

Onana is preparing for a move to English football. Chelsea is the ideal destination, given their immediate need for a competent keeper. The 23-year-old would enjoy regular playing time, right upon his arrival.

Gary Neville Slams Premier League Decisions After Callum Hudson-Odoi Contracts CONVID-19

Gary Neville back Chelsea to win Premier League title

Gary Neville slammed the Premier League officials after news about Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mikel Arteta contracting Coronavirus emerged.

Chelsea winger, Hudson-Odoi tested positive and so did the Arsenal manager. The Gunners fixture against Brighton And Hove Albion was called off.

Gary Neville tweeted out, “It needed a PL manager to contract the virus for them to act! Embarrassing leadership from the @premierleague “

Premier League’s earlier statetement claimed the public are in no danger of hosting games as usual – “Following the latest update from Government issued this afternoon, all Premier League matches will go ahead as scheduled this weekend.

“While the Prime Minister advised that all sporting events should take place as normal for now, he also indicated that Government is considering banning major public events, like sporting fixtures. We are therefore continuing to work closely with our clubs, Government, The FA, EFL and other relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate contingency plans are in place as and when circumstances change.

“The welfare of players, staff and supporters is of paramount importance and we will continue to follow Public Health England guidelines thoroughly. We will keep everyone updated as appropriate.”

However, after Arteta’s test revealed a positive result, the officials decided to hold an emergency meeting ahead of the weekend fixtures.

“In light of Arsenal’s announcement tonight confirming that their first team coach Mikel Arteta has tested positive for COVID-19, the Premier League will convene an emergency club meeting tomorrow morning regarding future fixtures,” the statement read. “The Premier League will make no further comment until after that meeting.”

Frank Lampard clashes with Chelsea’s head Marina Granovskaia over Willian contract

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has clashed with the club head Marina Granovskaia over the Willian contract situation.

The Blues are in a precarious situation of losing yet another player without having planned any backups. Their new signing Hakim Ziyech is expected to replace Pedro in the team making Willian the fourth winger. However, if Chelsea lose Willian, who is in the last few months of his contract, Lampard will once again be left struggling to make up the numbers in yet another lengthy season.

Moreover, Willian has been one of Chelsea’s better performers and the experience he brings to the table in big matches remain invaluable. He will no doubt want to stay, as he had already previously expressed but given his age, there has been a huge contract issue at the club.

Willian is 31 now and he is demanding a two to three year contract at least whereas Marina is prepared to offer the winger a 12 month extension with an option to increase it by another 12 months

The Brazilian has no shortage of suitors otherwise with Juventus, Barcelona, PSG, Arsenal are gunning for the signing of a free star.

It is Lampard’s first big clash with Marina and while all previous managers have had to settle for her decision, it will be interesting to see the outcome of this result given Lampard’s status and cult following at the club.
