Chelsea Target Gianluigi Donnarumma Open To Premier League Move

Chelsea Target Gianluigi Donnarumma Open To Premier League Move

Chelsea have just received a boost in their chase for a top Kepa Arrizibalaga replacement.

Frank Lampard is fed up with the club record signing and would like to drop him for a better player next season.

Reports from Italy claim that Gianluigi Donnaromma is keen on a Premier League switch after appearing in over 200 games for AC Milan. The 21-year-old is Italy’s number one goalkeeper and one of the hottest talents in the Serie A. Of course, signing will be a of great value for Chelsea, given his age and potential to reach the very top scale in his position.

“Donnarumma is very interesting because he has just one year left on his contract,” Italian football expert, David Amyol told the CalcioLandPod podcast. “He earns very big wages at a young age and I think he actually deserves his wages because he is a great keeper, but he’s rightfully going to want to be paid more.

“Milan is in a situation where they are actually trying to cut payroll and lower even more their top wages, plus Donnarumma would net Milan a huge profit. Donnarumma has no amortised value, so that would definitely help Milan if they could sell him for £50 or £60 million – maybe even more. I think PSG makes a good amount of sense because Leonardo’s there, and they obviously have an ‘in’ on the Italian market, but I think Donnarumma would be open to the Premier League.”

Chelsea winger Pedro confirms summer exit

Chelsea winger Pedro confirms summer exit

Chelsea forward Pedro has revealed he will be leaving the club this summer, but says now is not the time to talk about his future.

The Spaniard is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in June and set to become a free agent when his contract expires.

There has been speculation about his future for months as a result, with many expecting the 32-year-old to make a return to Spain once his time at Chelsea is at an end. That would have been decided in the summer, although is now likely to be delayed given the spread of Covid-19 has left football suspended around Europe.

He is refusing to focus on his future anyway, insisting that it is not something to focus on at this moment in time.

“I’m terminating my contract, but right now it’s not the most important thing, nor have I stopped to think about it,” he told El Larguero on CADENA SER. From there on what has to do with my future will come, but right now it’s not the most important thing when you don’t even know when you’re going to train again..”

The unprecedented situation has seen football locked down across Europe, with most leagues suspended indefinitely until the continent can get some control over it.

Like the rest of us, footballers find themselves in a state of lockdown, confined to their homes to avoid catching and spreading the virus. The UK has also put forward these measures, similar to the decision taken by both Spain and Italy, and Pedro says he has talked to his former Barcelona teammates about it.

“(I’ve talked with) Jordi (Alba), with someone else… and the same, living this situation with much chaos, with uncertainty. The confinement, which is also complicated … a little difficult and hard on everything. I have not been able to travel either and see my children. I had a chance to be with them, and I could not travel”.

Chelsea Face Transfer Fee Issue With Ben Chilwell

Chelsea are reportedly confident of acquiring Ben Chilwell this summer but face the issue of a large transfer fee.

Being an England international, Leicester City will charge nothing more than a premium amount for Chilwell, especially after a highly successful season.

The Foxes were third in the Premier League table, five points above Chelsea prior to the Coronavirus outbreak. Chilwell also has four more years left on his contract with Leicester, signing an extension only last year. Brendan Rodgers has furthered the left-back’s development at a faster rate, making him one of the most desirable Premier League players in his position.

Of course, Frank Lampard will have to address the left-back post ahead of the 2020/21 campaign. Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso are no longer doing it for the Blues with both often benched by the 41-year-old. The two were signed by Antonio Conte, which naturally makes them better suited to the role of fullbacks, but not traditional defending left-backs.

Chilwell is and has become quite good at it. He is exciting going forward and dilligent at the back. The 23-year-old is currently the starter in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for valid reasons. And Leicester knows how to profit off of this situation. They already made a neat sum out of Harry Maguire’s record-breaking sale to Manchester United for a defender. They are likely to do the same with Chilwell.

Chelsea do have other options in FC Porto’s Alex Telles and Getafe’s Marc Cucurella but neither are Premier League-tested. Chilwell will also nicely fit into Lampard’s band of young English players at the Bridge.

How Jose Mourinho Convinced Cesc Fabregas To Sign With Chelsea

How Jose Mourinho Convinced Cesc Fabregas To Sign With Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas revealed Jose Mourinho was a majort part of him joining Chelsea instead of Arsenal on his return to the Premier League.

Fabregas established himself with the Gunners, spending 8 years at North London but could not achieve the same at Barcelona.

Arsenal opted against resigning their former midfield ace, allowing Chelsea to steal him away quite easily. Mourinho had a huge impact in attracting Fabregas to the Stamford Bridge as well.

I spoke to Mourinho, which I didn’t think it would ever happen because of what happened when I was at Arsenal and Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid,” Fabregas told Arseblog. “But after I left the room with Mourinho I said to my agent “that’s it, I’m going to Chelsea”. There was no extra money involved.

“What he told me, the team he wanted to make, what he thought of me, how he wanted me to play absolutely every game. I knew this would have repercussions with Arsenal. It would have been the same with City or United but I wanted to go back to the Premier League.”

Fabregas ended up leaving Chelsea with 2 Premier League titles and a FA Cup, making close to 200 appearances across 5 seasons.

Barcelona offer outcast Philipe Coutinho to Chelsea on loan

Barcelona offer outcast Philipe Coutinho to Chelsea on loan

Philippe Coutinho has been offered to Chelsea as Barcelona look to cash in on their £142m flop.

Reports say that Barcelona has offered Coutinho to Chelsea, but the Blues would only be interested in taking him on loan and are currently prioritising other targets. Chelsea once tried hard to sign Coutinho from Liverpool before he made his big-money move to Spain in January 2018. But they have cooled their interest since as the 27-year-old has endured a nightmare spell with the Catalan club.

Coutinho was shipped off on loan to Bayern Munich this season and his form has picked up slightly. The Samba star has started 15 times in the Bundesliga and has managed nine goals and eight assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for the German giants. He also played the full 90 minutes of their 7-2 demolition of Tottenham in the Champions League and he came off the bench in their 3-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last month as well.

Despite his improved form, Bayern have decided not to exercise their purchase option in Coutinho’s loan deal. And with Barcelona insisting he is now surplus to requirements, the Spanish giants will put him on the market this summer.

Chelsea have not yet rejected the chance to sign him, but have already brought in Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech and are currently focused on other targets.

Chelsea are preparing for a summer overhaul.

One of the players who have generated quite a bit of interest in England is West Ham United’s Declan Rice. The 21 year old England international has been close friends with Mason Mount and where seen together as recently as last week when the duo went out for a 5-a-side footy despite being told to stay in quarantine (an incident for which Mount was rightly punished by Chelsea).

Chelsea have four central midfielders in Mateo Kovacic, Billy Gilmour, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho. Kovacic has been outstanding this season under Lampard while Gilmour despite some mind blowing performances remains an 18 year old kid who needs to be honed and phased in rather than thrown under the bus with the pressure of a full season.

As for Jorginho, he has phased in and out and has done well in patches but many think he is just not cut out for the Premier League, defensively. Kante is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and will continue to be so. However, he lacks the cutting edge when in possession which is increasingly becoming the trend for defensive midfielders in modern day football.

This has seen Chelsea venture out in search of players like Rice, who, at 21, hold the potential to become great as a central defensive midfielder both offensively and defensively.

Do you think he’s worth a punt for Chelsea?

Manchester United Could Move For Callum Hudson-Odoi As Sancho Alternative

Manchester United Could Move For Callum Hudson-Odoi As Sancho Alternative

Manchester United could orchestrate a move for Callum Hudson-Odoi if they lose out on Jadon Sancho to Chelsea, according to Dominic Booth.

Reports have surfaced claiming just how strongly the Blues want Sancho in their lineup next season. Even John Terry has signed off on the 19-year-old, urging his former side to sign him this summer.

Chelsea are in a strong position to fight off any competitors after going through a transfer ban this season. Manchester United and Liverpool are heavily invested in getting a deal over the line for Sancho as well. However, if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fails to get the teenager, he could always launch a counter blow to Chelsea – signing up one of their English talents.

“Sancho would be the one for United, but if he goes elsewhere or stays at Dortmund, I could see them going for Callum Hudson-Odoi. He’s rated by Frank Lampard at Chelsea, but hasn’t really made a huge impact this season and would be exactly what United want: raw pace, youth and lots of ability. He was briefly considered last summer before signing a new contract,” Booth told Manchester Evening News.

Chelsea invested heavily in getting Christian Pulisic and keeping Hudson-Odoi from the clutches of Bayern Munich last year. However, Sancho would be an immediate upgrade from both of them. Some would even say that the Dortmund winger’s game is similar to the likes of Hudson-Odoi, suggesting their might just be one starting berth for the two of them to fight over.

This could force Chelsea’s hands to part ways with their prized academy graduate with Solskjaer ready to offer him a more lucrative part. Hudson-Odoi is clearly an outrageous talent who is just waiting to burst onto the Premier League scene. He will add a much-needed level of creativity to the United front three and also fit Solskjaer’s checklist, in terms of age and talent. The teenager is coachable and boasts of ridiculous pace, athleticism and technical abilities.

Roma loanee Davide Zappacosta reveals unusual Chelsea return clause

Davide Zappacosta admits Chelsea always had a recall option for him during this season’s loan with Roma.

The fullback’s spell has been marred by a knee injury – though there is hope Roma and Chelsea will agree to a new 12 month arrangement.

Zappacosta said in a social media chat: “I had just arrived in Rome and I had this injury that kept me out for quite a while. I was returning but then this chaos broke out.

“I had taken the ball, sprung and was doing everything on the pitch. I was close to returning. We are forbidden to do anything because the risk is too high. I do my best at home, I have set up a small gym I am trying to stay in shape. But the main thing now is health.

“The loan? It was annual, but there was a sort of Chelsea clause that said that if one of the full-backs were seriously injured I would have to return. Quite unlikely, isn’t it?”

The Blues could be potentially signing Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann come this summer.

However, Chelsea is definitely not the only club vying to get the France international over to their. Several other clubs are in the running, which include Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Griezmann left Atletico Madrid in July 2019, and joined La Liga giants FC Barcelona for £108 million. However, Barcelona has put their French winger on the market – with a price tag of £90 million. It results in a loss for the Catalan club, albeit small.

The France international has till now made 37 appearances across all competitions, and scored 14 goals with 4 assists. For the expectations Barcelona had when they first signed him last year, have not been met by Griezmann.

So how will Chelsea benefit with signing Griezmann? Well, for starters, the 29-year old winger has impeccable technique while playing and skillfully uses his left foot. It would be a great benefit for the Blues if he does end up at Stamford Bridge.

However, Lampard might favour the likes of Jadon Sancho at Chelsea. He is younger and for the Blues, a long term option is better. Willian and Pedro might be leaving this summer, with their contracts expiring in a few months.

There is good backup at Chelsea, though. Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi, along with Hakim Ziyech – all on the young side – are there to perform on the pitch. There will be a lot of competition for Chelsea to sign Griezmann, so it’s a matter of waiting and watching.

‘Top Player’ Ross Barkley Backed To Win Chelsea Trophies

'Top Player' Ross Barkley Backed To Win Chelsea Trophies

Joe Cole has backed Ross Barkley to come good at Chelsea.

Many fans have been left frustrated by Barkley’s antics this season, twice caught on unprofessional behaviour and then failing to deliver on the pitch.

Barkley, even though an England international, has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge. However, just before the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the 26-year-old was really making an impression on Frank Lampard.

“Ross has improved. He is a top player. I’m a big fan of Ross Barkley. Always have been,” Cole told The Star. “He’s been a bit less spoken about because of Jack Grealish and James Maddison and Mason Mount. But he’s done a terrific job at Chelsea.

“The last two games, against Liverpool and Everton, he was brilliant. Absolutely fantastic. I’ve always thought he was a top player and I think he’ll be at Chelsea for many, many years. Now the challenge for Ross is can he keep doing that, can he be that player who drives Chelsea on to win trophies, like his manager was? I think he can.”

Barkley still has a challenge on his hands to tie down a starting spot in the Blues midfield. With Ruben Loftus-Cheek returning from injury and Matteo Kovacic impressing this season, the Englishman will need to be at his best once Premier League football resumes.
