Chelsea want Cucurella in Coutinho deal

Chelsea want Cucurella in Coutinho deal

The Blues are looking for two Catalan players currently on loan.

A ban on buying players in the previous summer transfer window has allowed Chelsea to afford a big budget for the next transfer window opening. Manager Frank Lampard wants to bring in a world-class player after the Blues are left without Eden Hazard, and his first choice is Barcelona’s Phillipe Coutinho, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay 120m euros for the Brazilian, but will receive the services of the young fullback Mark Cucurella, who has been loaned to Getafe this season. The Bavarians have confirmed earlier that they will not activate the 120 million-euro clause for Coutinho, but Barca want to get rid of him because of the high salary of 12 million euros a year.

Although Quique Setien plans to give Coutinho a new chance, the administration will want to sell him as they plan to invest in Neymar’s return.

As for Coutinho, this is his chance to return to the Premier League after leaving Liverpool.

Chelsea’s transfer being lifted means that the Blues are now ready to roll into the summer with money.

Truth be told, Chelsea do need some reinforcements in the squad. Of the positions which are a primary concern for Lampard, one would have to be the dilemma of a left back.

Ever since Ashley Cole left in 2013, Chelsea have struggled to replace him. Azpilicueta did a commendable job as a makeshift left back but he is now needed elsewhere.

The two left backs signed by the club since then have been Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina and Emerson Palmieri from AS Roma. Needless to say they have not lived up to the mark. While Alonso thrived at times in a three man back system, he is not fast enough to keep up with the pace of the Premier League and Palmieri despite having speed is a defensive liability.

So naturally Chelsea channeled their attention to the market where they have shortlisted Ben Chilwell of Leicester City and Alex Telles of FC Porto. With Chilwell’s price set to go beyond $70 million easily, Chelsea prioritized Telles.

And now it seems their gamble is going to pay off with Telles reportedly telling Porto he has no intention of extending his contract beyond 2021, the expiration date.

Telles moreover has a $44 million release clause at the moment, something Chelsea should be happy to pay given the inflated market right now.

It would seem Porto either sell him to Chelsea for $44 million now or lose him for free next summer. Well, the choice seems like a no-brainer.

LATEST: Will Ruben Loftus-Cheek be able to help Chelsea get the fourth spot this season?
Bildbyran

Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek was ruled out with a long term injury back in March 2019.

It has been exactly one year now since the Chelsea player last kicked a ball. He has had to work hard and train harder alone to not only get a successful surgery but to work back into fitness, develop his instincts and get mentally prepare again for football – all the while taking care of his injury rehab.

It has been tough. However, good news for Chelsea fans is that Loftus-Cheek is now back. The player has completely recovered and is at full fitness to start and play for the Blues!

With Chelsea struggling to hold on to their fourth spot as the Premier League race winds to a finish, the addition of Loftus-Cheek to Lampard’s ranks will definitely be a game-changer.

The journey for Loftus-Cheek has not been easy though. For a player dying to prove his worth at a club, he got injured just when he was getting going and that too for a year! It was a hard journey back to his best and he has now shared how it went with the fans!

“My physical presence, how powerful I am, is my biggest strength,” Loftus-Cheek told Chelsea TV.

“But my body is also my weakness. And that’s just what I have to manage. I have to manage my body, and that’s what I’ve learned a lot about.

“So it’s working smart, working hard but listening to your body as well. Be aware of your journey and pay attention to it. The mental side of being injured is hard; it’s hard.

“Going through the tough times it hardens you, and makes you a better player. I have to have the mindset of not regretting those things.

“I have those moments: ‘who would I be now if I hadn’t had those injuries? But I have to counter that as well and say ‘who would I be without those injuries?’

“There’s a right way to think, and a wrong way to think. You have to practise, it’s a skill, to think properly.

“I just really didn’t want to rush (back from the Achilles injury). The hardest part for me (of being injured) has been actually watching the games.

“Seeing them play, and seeing them win, and lose in the bad times, that’s so hard.

“Playing for Chelsea, it’s deep. And that feeling of playing for the shirt, that really comes out when you’re on the pitch.”

This player from the technical aspect – brings in goals – bang – he is a Lampard-ish player – as said by the manager himself. He will drive past people as well when he needs to and is an asset as a midfield enforcer and a scorer. Moreover from the mental aspect – the way he recovered from the injury shows how good he can be when the chips are down – he has seen the tough time and can fight through it.

Finally, from a loyalty point of view, you can see what it means to him to play for the Chelsea shirt and how he will always give it all. If and when the season restarts, Chelsea will have to play about 10 games in a space of a few days. Over there, having a fresh pick like RLC who can manage the heat and thrive on it might just prove to be the difference between a Champions League and an Europa League spot.

Chelsea given Harry Kane boost after player questions his Tottenham future

Chelsea given Harry Kane boost after player questions his Tottenham future

Remember early 2015?

Jose Mourinho’s lavish Chelsea team was sweeping aside teams until they ran into Tottenham Hotspur, more specifically into Harry Kane. That set the stage for a world class striker who only capitalized on the brilliant hat-trick he scored that night against Terry and co.

Well it would seem now that the menace of Harry Kane that has tormented every Premier League team could well be on his way to Stamford Bridge. The England captain is a Spurs loyalist. However, he what cannot be denied is the fact that he has far outgrown the club.

While Kane thrives to be the world’s best, Tottenham seek European qualification credentials. A player of such class needs a stage where he will competing against the best for trophies. Spurs not until long back were trying to do so. However, a torrid season which saw Pochettino sacked and Mourinho bring mediocrity to the club, could not sway Kane’s mind.

What was once a firm believe that he will never leave Spurs, even for the likes of Real Madrid, Kane has now said that he is no longer sure.

“I’m an ambitious player, I want to improve, get better and become one of the top, top players. It all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress as a team. So it’s not a definite I’m going to stay there forever, but it’s not a no either.”

“Next year would be the first chance for the gaffer to have a pre-season, and bed his values into the team. So we’ll see what happens. Of course I want to win trophies, and to do that sooner rather than later.”

This works perfectly for Chelsea who are set to get back into the Champions League, are building a team for the future to win trophies and seem set to splash the cash this season to sign the best.

The Blues indeed need a finisher to convert the 100s of chances they create at the moment and the value of a goal scorer cannot be underestimated.

Callum Hudson-Odoi officially became the first Premier League player to be tested positive for the CoVID-19 in the second week of March.

It spread panic amongst the players and the organization of the Premier League as games were canceled and things were hastily shut down. Hudson-Odoi was ill for sometime before recovering towards the end of the month.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard updated on the player’s health throughout and now finally Hudson-Odoi has come live to share with us his story and what we can learn from it.

“I am feeling perfect,” he told Chelsea’s official website. “I had the virus, which has cleared now. I fully feel good, I feel fit, so I am feeling back to myself so it is all good.

“I had it [the illness] three weeks ago now I think, on a Monday when I felt a bit hot and I was thinking, ‘this is a bit unusual, why do I feel this hot?’

“The next day I was feeling back to normal. I thought it was just a minor temperature thing, but obviously it wasn’t. I said to myself this wasn’t actually that bad, the symptoms, and I said to myself, ‘I feel good, I feel better.’

“Everything is happening so fast and I did not know this virus would be such a major thing and so big in the world and affect so many people.

“Everyone has to be careful and judge things how they go and hopefully the virus will go soon and everyone will be back to normal.”

This message is interesting and educational for everyone as we can learn that the virus is more dangerous than we understand and hence should not risk safety at any cost.

Willian: Chelsea expected Hazard to leave

Willian: Chelsea expected Hazard to leave

Chelsea forward Willian has revealed that everyone expected Eden Hazard to leave for Real Madrid.

In a recent interview with ESPN Brasil, Willian revealed details about how he lived his entire adult life in England and how it affected his personality. He also talked about the days and months before Hazard leaving Stamford Bridge, and how everyone expected him to leave.

“By the time speculation started, we already knew. He had this desire to play for Real Madrid, it was something we were waiting for.

“Of course, it was certainly very bad to lose him as a good friend and workmate. But that was it: sad on the one hand and happy on the other.

“Hazard has been unfortunate with two injuries. We played together for six years and lived special moments together. He’s a guy who’s still my friend today.”

The business goes on while the world suffers.

As inhuman as it is, one man’s lostt inevitably become another man’s gain in this capitalist world. While Italy suffers from their biggest ever pandemic, the CoVID-19, the country has been crippled financially and are almost on the edge of a breakdown.

In such tough times, the markets are falling and AC Milan’s squad valuation is said to have dropped by a massive £120 million. The San Siro outfit has a few famous stars in their ranks who were valued highly and it is now likely to go down.

Their biggest jewel in the making is 21-year old Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italian national team goalkeeper made his debut in club level back at the age of 16 and is now an established starter. He is tipped to become one of the best in the world. Donnarumma’s hefty price tag of £50 million is expensive put away many suitors earlier, Chelsea included.

However, with the prices now slashed, Donnarumma is reportedly set to be valued at a mere £30 million! This would spell “opportunity” for the Blues who are in the market for a new goalkeeper after Kepa Arrizabalaga failed to prove his worth in his spell at the Bridge.

Lampard is building a young team at West London and having a 21 yeard goalkeeper with a lot of potential and experience coming in at the price of just £30 million, Chelsea is expected to go all-in for Donnarumma now.

However, celebrate we must for Chelsea, the reason why the price went down is one of great grieve and our thoughts and prayers are primarily with them for now rather than the Blues getting a cheap buy-out for a player.

Willian firing shots at Chelsea’s lack of stability amidst contract talk breakdown

Willian firing shots at Chelsea's lack of stability amidst contract talk breakdown

Chelsea has reached a complete halt in contract talks with Willian.

The winger recently admitted he is seeking a 3-year extension while the club only agreed for two. As things stand to meltdown, Willian has now taken a shot at Chelsea with a clear underlying message of how the club stands to lose out from not having continuity.

“I think the secret [to Liverpool’s success] is continuity,” Willian told ESPN Brazil. “The coach has been with the club for almost five years. When you have continuity, you can win titles.

“They had a sequence of important victories, which shows the maturity of the team. You have to have time to get things done, and Liverpool has had a coach and a philosophy for a long time.

“The team is the same, it is only one or two players that change, the base is the same. At Manchester City too, Guardiola has been there for a long time, the philosophy is always the same.”

“Chelsea changes [managers] a lot,” he admitted. “In seven years, I have had five different coaches and philosophies.

“But even so, we won titles, because Chelsea always had that, it has always been like that and the club has continued to win titles. I think each club has a profile.”

Those are some serious words from Willian and while it is true we have lacked stability at Stamford Bridge, giving a 3-year contract to a 33-year-old is not exactly the policy in any top club in the world.

Lyon find Chelsea favorites for Moussa Dembele sale

Chelsea reportedly have first refusal on Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, and the Blues are said to be leading the race for the highly-rated forward.

Dembele has enjoyed a stellar campaign in France’s top flight this season, registering 16 goals in 27 appearances prior to the coronavirus suspension.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea in recent weeks, but the former’s interest in the striker has reportedly been dealt a huge blow.

According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea’s attempts to sign Dembele in January means that they are first in line for any future approaches, and Lyon could allegedly be prepared to sell the forward this summer.

The report also states that the French outfit would be willing to part ways with Dembele for a fee of £60m, with his current deal set to expire in 2023.

The former Celtic man registered 51 goals in 94 games for the Scottish champions before making the switch to his native France in 2018.
