Frank Lampard has released updates about Chelsea’s injuries.

Chelsea is set to be without Christian Pulisic, Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech. However, fortunately, fans shall be witnessing Timo Werner in action against Liverpool.

“Chilwell is not ready for the game, neither is Christian Pulisic. We hope they will work well during the week,” LampardĀ told Football.London during his pre-match press conference.

“Hakim Ziyech is also not ready for the game. Werner is fit, though.

“Thiago (Silva) has been training for the last three or four days, but Liverpool will come too soon for him.”

Frank Lampard earlier wasn’t too sure of even Werner showing up for the Liverpool game. Werner had injured himself during the Brighton match.

“He is going to be a real threat. He is a very mobile centre-forward who can do so many things for us. He is one who has had some games, he has a bit of fitness, and you could see that.

“He took a knock when he won the penalty which we hope is a dead leg. I would like to think if it is that we have a bit of time to get him back [for the Liverpool game],” Lampard had said.

Frank Lampard urges there is no enmity between himself and Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

The duo had a heated clash in Chelsea’s last game against Liverpool where they lost 5-3 and there were some verbal arguments on the sidelines.

Both Lampard and Klopp will face other each other again when the Reds visit Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Klopp already played down the rumours of any rivalry between him and Lampard in a previous interview.

ā€œThatā€™s probably the nature of the world we live,ā€ said Lampard.

ā€œThere is a lot of airtime for you on talkSPORT to have to fill with these sort of rivalries, so I understand that sometimes they can be scrutinised in every possible way.

ā€œI just reiterate what Jurgen Klopp said from his part. I have got a huge amount of respect for him as a manager, I always have done.

ā€œWhat he has done at Liverpool in the time that he has been there is incredible ā€“ and thatā€™s on him as the focal point of the club and the individual talent in the squad that theyā€™ve brought in.

ā€œSo there is nothing in it for me. The competitive nature of the 90 minutes can always slightly boil over in different directions, but the respect I have for Jurgen Klopp would never change.ā€

My Best Position Is The Number 10 - Kai Havertz`

Kai Havertz has outlined exactly where he feels the most comfortable as a player.

Chelsea signed him from Bayer Leverkusen on a record deal only to make him the attacking talisman in the near future.

Havertz made a name for himself in Germany, playing in various positions for Leverkusen. He ensured a prolific tally of goals either from the flanks or through central positions. Many still question where his best position is but the 21-year-old has cleared it all up.

When talking about his versatility, the 21-year-old said, ā€œI played I think every offensive position at Leverkusen. I played as a right-winger, as a No.10, as a No.6, No.8 and sometimes as a striker as well.

ā€œBut for more itā€™s very important to have that flexibility on the pitch and to be creative, thatā€™s something I like. I think I can play many positions.

ā€œOf course, for me, my best position is as a No.10, but of course I can play on the right side or as a striker as well. To be honest Iā€™m happy to stay on the pitch. I think Iā€™m flexible.ā€

Havertz started his first game under Frank Lampard on the right flank. This might have been due to Hakim Ziyech being unavailable and Havertz playing in the same role at Leverkusen. Ultimately, we all expect him to play behind the striker and dictate Chelsea’s attacks on a regular basis.

What Campaign Does Chelsea Need To Have To Enter Contention For Title?

What Campaign Does Chelsea Need To Have To Enter Contention For Title

Chelsea have put the cherry on the cake in the summer transfer window by signing German international, Kai Havertz.

Although it might not be the end of signings at ā€˜The Bluesā€™ headquarters in the offseason, the arrival of a 21-year-old attacking midfielder from Leverkusen only increased a series of expensive signings since the club was taken over by Roman Abramovich in 2003.

Does this guarantee a Premier League title or is there something else that also matters? Perhaps, something that has to do with the playing rhythm throughout the season?

The last 28 years of English top-level football, aka ā€˜the Premier League eraā€™, is treated for a reason as a separate entity that differs from what was going on before it. Reasons for that are numerous: from the infrastructure, organization, finances, foreign influence through coaches, players, and ownersā€¦

Letā€™s not forget one more argument that, maybe, affected the nature of modern football in England, but also across Europe, the most since 1992 ā€“ the super-club phenomenon ā€“ to which Chelsea definitely belongs. Thanks to profit assembled from commercial deals and their Champions League participation, most powerful teams dominate their respective national leagues.

As a result, since the mid-2000s, thereā€™s a gap between the best and the rest in the Premier League and it widens rapidly. The fast start to the season was something that super-clubs had to have in order to make a distinction between each other and top the competition by the end.

What pattern did two of Chelseaā€™s titles in a row bring?

A new pattern was established by ā€˜The Bluesā€™ and even the Manchester United renowned head coach Alex Ferguson pinpointed it. He stated once, actually in 2012, that two of Chelseaā€™s titles in a row changed the pre-season approach of his team but also other title contenders, putting a slow start to the season and accelerating it in the second half to history.

Taking over Chelsea by Abramovich and appointing JosƩ Mourinho was a turning point. The Portuguese expert realized that a fast start to the season is more important than it has previously been recognized. His squad assembled 23 points in the first 10 matches of 2004/05. In a second title that followed a year later, Chelsea won nine of the first 10 matches in the season.

So, instead of building up to the second half of the season, the ā€˜trendsettersā€™ from London usually allowed themselves a drop-off in the second half of the season. But, the stock they had thanks to a furious beginning of the season, couldn’t be harmed by dropping points in seven of their last 16 league games.

This template with Mourinhoā€™s trademark has repeated in 2014/15. On the way to the Premier League title, ā€˜The Bluesā€™ put 26 points on the board after 10 matches before letting go points in eight of their last 20 encounters.

Study backs up Chelseaā€™s pattern

Statistically, eventual Premier League champions had the average points tally after 10 games between 1992 and 2003 of 20.8. After that, it was 24. Studies say that even the number of leaders in the first 10 rounds has changed in the period before 2003 and after. Before, that number was 7. Afterwards, itā€™s 5.

Fighting for the top four that guarantees a spot in the Champions League isnā€™t so much different than the title battle. Here itā€™s also important to be at the best in the first 10 games. Periods in which the data was examined when it comes to this are different because a starting year is a year when England for the first time had four clubs, the ā€˜Big Fourā€™, in the Champions League – which was 2001/02.

The ā€˜Big Fourā€™ turned into ā€˜Top Sixā€™ in 2010. Chelsea belongs to both. No side that has been fourth after 10 games have finished any lower than sixth. Only six teams managed to be placed fourth in the charts in the first 10 games since 2010, while that number was eight before 2010. The average points tally of the clubs that finished fourth in the first 10 games is 19.1 since 2010. Between 2001 and 2010, it was 18.1.

This clearly shows how much effort itā€™s necessary to make in the opening 10 games in order to in contention for a Premier League title but also for a top-four spot in the table. To conclude, just 10 games of the 2020/21 campaign will be enough to assume how the title battle and battle for a Champions League will look by the time season ends in May.

Davide Zappacosta To Leave Chelsea For Genoa On Loan

Davide Zappacosta To Leave Chelsea For Genoa On Loan

Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta will be heading out to Genoa this summer.

According to Sky Sports reporter, Angelo Mangiante, a deal has been struck with the Serie A club to take Zappacosta on loan.

Frank Lampard has no intention of utilizing the Italy international in the 2020/21 season. Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta are his picks at the right-back spot while Zappacosta spent last season on loan with AS Roma.

The 28-year-old is one of many players Chelsea are trying to get rid of this summer. Lampard has brought in heavy reinforcements in the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and more. To accommodate them, there needs to be some exits as well.

Other than Zappacosta, Emerson Palmieri and Michy Batshuayi are excess to Frank Lampard’s needs. Danny Drinkwater is expected to be let go as well while a deal for Kepa Arrizibalaga will simply be too hard to find.

Chelsea will be hoping to turn Zappacosta’s loan move into a permanent exit next summer. That way they will be able to recoup some of the ā‚¬28m they spent on him two years back.

When Will Chelsea Fans Be Allowed Back To The Stadium?

0
When will Chelsea fans be allowed back to the Stadium?

The return of the Premier League on the 12th of September has sparked discussions about allowing fans back into the stadium.

One club that canā€™t wait to have their fans back at the stadium is Chelsea. The Blues will be yarning to see their fans watch their new signings live and that will be a very historic moment for the club and the fans.

When this will be having not be concluded but will be very soon. The Premier League have been working assiduously to do everything to ensure that return to the stadiums even if itā€™s at a reduced capacity.Ā  Stanford Bridge has a capacity of 45,000 and it will be great if at least one-third of the seats is filled.

Other sports are also working on making fans return to the venues of games. The US Open is a very good example. The organizers were planning to allow fans into the venue but due to the US Open statistic and increased number of people reportedly testing positive to Coronavirus, it was impossible to do that and endanger the lives of the fans and the athlete themselves. Playing the grand slam behind closed doors was the right decision to take.

Why are fans not allowed in stadiums?

It must be stated that the reasons for the decision to restrict fans from visiting sports events are all centred around the global pandemic, Coronavirus. The deadly virus has taken the lives of thousands of people across the world and sports men and women have also contracted the virus only to test negative after a while.

It has to be stated that government policy and regulation have to adhere strictly to since the Covid-19 and a countryā€™s FA alone cannot decide if itā€™s safe to return to the stadium to watch football when many are still dying of the deadly virus.

Football in England was altered because of this virus, and the season was proponed till there was a headway about what is to be done about the virus. The Premier League has been on their best practice to ensure that most players are adhering to proper regulations to avoid the spread of the deadly virus.

When Chelsea decides to return back to the stadium, the players and the fans must pass all tests by authorities bothĀ in the football and health sector.

What are the fans missing?

When the Premier League returned last season in July, Leicester City were third on the charts and Chelsea were behind them and had all the momentum to go ahead of them.

The Blues were in pole position to finish third after some rounds of games that saw the Blues take some crucial wins. They finally jumped ahead of Leicester who were in very terrible form post lockdown. This opened up the race for top four from the team sitting third till Arsenal on eighth position on the log.

This was the moments fans were needed the most at the grounds. Clubs could have benefitted from having their fans cheer them when they were close to achieving what they set out to achieve. The whistling and the boos from the shout will get to the managers and players to ensure the fans get value for their money and that play a key role in how games turn out. In fact, fans presence is the sole purpose for the and away game rule.

If fans were not important at the stadium that much, all league games could just have been played at a neutral ground where limited fans are allocated tickets and that tickets determine how many fans from each team will be allowed.

But in a case of home-away rule, the home team have the edge in the numbers of fans that is to be expected in the stadium which tilt the support in their favour on match day. This also help teams go the extra mile to grind out results.

The psychological effect that happens when players know that no fans are in the stadium to boo them or shout their name, depending on how the game is going will get to them. Players with trademark celebrations will only have to do it in front of cameraman when in the past you face the fans and feel the excitement coming from them and how happy they are when their team get a goal, especially if itā€™s from their favourite stars.

It will be bunkers when Chelsea return to the Bridge and their first game has new signing like Timo Werner score. That kind of excitement canā€™t be curtained and they will long for more week in week out.

What to expect when the fans return to the Bridge?

There are discussions on when the fans will return to the stadium and it is in advance stage. There are press statements from clubs giving plans on what they are doing to ensure the fans return to the stadium as soon as possible. The most realistic of time reported so far is the first weekend of October.

That will be matchday four in the league. The fans are not expected to see things the way they were before the pandemic. A very strict health guideline must be met before any fan can be allowed inside the stadium.

Another thing to expect from Chelsea fans when they return to the stadium is several new faces and a different setup. The faces known in the Chelsea attack the last term out were Willian, Pedro, Abraham and Pulisic.

The only name that is expected to make the team line up this new season is Pulisic. This is as a result of the arrival of the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz. These new attackers will give head coach, Frank Lampard a better pool of option to pick from.

The fans also will have to be patient with the new arrivals as all havenā€™t played in England and may not hit the ground running instantly. But it will be interesting to see how the fans react to the new look in Lampardā€™s team.

How Chelsea plans to beat Liverpool

1
How Chelsea plans to beat Liverpool
Bildbyran

Frank Lampard is sure that Chelsea will beat Liverpool.

And that’s because the Blues have a gameplan which Lampard wants to take the most advantage of against Klopp’s side.

Lampard claimed: ā€œI am very excited. Liverpool were clearly the best team in the league last year, they won it by a long way.

“But every game we played against them we really competed well.

“We beat them in the FA Cup and lost pretty narrowly in both league games where we made a really good account of ourselves.

“I’m excited for us to see how the players match up against them and see where we’re at.

Moreover, Chelsea has had several player signings this summer – more so than any other Premier League club.

“We have some new players now, we are slightly short on fitness. I think our pre-season has been one of the hardest in the league.

“Liverpool have been training a couple weeks more than us, but what a great early opportunity to match up against them and see what we can do.

“We have to be confident, we can’t fear Liverpool, we respect them, but we will believe in ourselves.”

Timo Werner Not Looking For Excuses Of Adapting To The PL

0
Timo Werner Not Looking For Excuses Of Adapting To The PL

Timo Werner does not want to use the excuse of a newcomer in the Premier League.

Chelsea signed him from RB Leipzig in July and he wants to get off the mark right from the start.

Werner made his competitive debut for the Blues against Brighton last weekend. He impressed while out on the pitch, helping his side win 3-1.

“I don’t know [if I need time to adapt],” Werner said, via Goal. “I think maybe yes, but maybe not. I think the football in the Premier League fits me very well.

“In the games against Brighton, I saw them sometimes sit deep and not leave much space. Other times there was a lot of space for my runs and movement ā€“ that can be good for me.

“It depends on the game, how stretched the defenders are. The football is more about power and strength. It could be that I have to adapt a bit for a few games. In the end, I want to play, play well, score and win.

“I maybe will need two or three games but I want to be as good as possible. I want no excuses about needing to adapt for 10 or 15 games because it is possible. We want to win and you can’t have a player who needs a long time to adapt.

“I want to come into the league and be the best Timo I can be as soon as possible.”

Chelsea And Manchester United To Battle Over Marash Kumbulla

0
Chelsea And Manchester United Battle Over Marash Kumbulla

Chelsea have scouted a top defensive prospect in the Serie A – Marash Kumbulla.

Reports of a transfer is ongoing but the Blues face competition from arch-rivals, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Kumbulla has impressed last term playing for Hellas Verona. He made his debut in the 2018/19 season in the Italian second division and then enjoyed regular minutes after achieving presence. The 20-year-old was an integral part to Verona’s ninth-place finish last term.

He is strong on the tackle, physically big and has a lot of admirable traits as a defender. No wonder Chelsea are pressing for his signature, given how badly they need to improve their backline.

While the additions of Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva has given them momentum, the Blues are far from being a complete picture. Frank Lampard’s primary target is West Ham’s Declan Rice but the Englishman could be a bit too expensive. The Hammers value him at Ā£80m and are not nudging on that price tag.

Kumbulla would come in at a much lower fee, which would play nicely into Chelsea’s hands. At 20, he has time to adapt to a new league and continue his development under Lampard. However, is it the best time to bring in another prospect when Chelsea already have uncertainties with Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori?

Chelsea’s Secret Weapon In Getting Declan Rice

0
Chelsea's Secret Weapon In Getting Declan Rice

Chelsea do have the option to tempt West Ham United into selling Declan Rice at a lower fee.

The Hammers are reportedly holding out for an insane sum of Ā£80 million for their young defensive ace.

Rice, while very talented, might be out of Chelsea’s price range after the transfer activity they have enjoyed these past few months. Frank Lampard has expended over Ā£200 million to sign the likes of Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz. Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr additionally came in for free.

However, none of these names have broken Chelsea’s transfer record just yet. Havertz’s transfer fee is only set to rise beyond Ā£72 million if certain clauses are met. Lampard will have to think twice before making Rice the club’s recording signing of all time. Fans would not mind taking that tag off of Kepa Arrizibalaga, who continues to falter in goal.

West Ham United are targeting Emerson Palmieri in the transfer market and Chelsea can use him to lower Rice’s asking price. The left-back is excess to Lampard’s needs at West London and is ready to leave. There was significant interest from Italy but Chelsea’s demands has put off a lot of clubs.

Perhaps using him as a pawn in this transfer could prove to be fruitful for Chelsea. After all, they did manage to lower Havertz’s fee from Ā£100 million to Ā£72 million through one way or the other.
