Davide Zappacosta To Leave Chelsea For Genoa On Loan

Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta will be heading out to Genoa this summer.

According to Sky Sports reporter, Angelo Mangiante, a deal has been struck with the Serie A club to take Zappacosta on loan.

Frank Lampard has no intention of utilizing the Italy international in the 2020/21 season. Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta are his picks at the right-back spot while Zappacosta spent last season on loan with AS Roma.

The 28-year-old is one of many players Chelsea are trying to get rid of this summer. Lampard has brought in heavy reinforcements in the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and more. To accommodate them, there needs to be some exits as well.

Other than Zappacosta, Emerson Palmieri and Michy Batshuayi are excess to Frank Lampard’s needs. Danny Drinkwater is expected to be let go as well while a deal for Kepa Arrizibalaga will simply be too hard to find.

Chelsea will be hoping to turn Zappacosta’s loan move into a permanent exit next summer. That way they will be able to recoup some of the €28m they spent on him two years back.
