Frank Lampard Warned About Chelsea Owner As Managerial Appointment Nears

Frank Lampard Warned About Chelsea Owner As Managerial Appointment Nears

We all can imagine how Frank Lampard will be welcomed back into Chelsea this summer as contract agreement nears but we should also consider the presence of one constant, Roman Abramovich.

The Russian owner has been swift with his judgement to axe managers if he saw the slightest bit of performance drop. Lampard, while a club legend and his appointment unlike any other, could be faced with the same pressure once he takes over at West London, according to Sky Sports reporter, David Reed.

“[The transfer ban] may actually work in his favour,” he said on Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.

“The elephant in the room for Chelsea is this transfer ban they have appealed, firstly to FIFA who rejected that appeal, they’ve now gone one step further and are waiting for the Court of Arbitration for Sport to rule on their appeal against that transfer ban that was handed down.

“And actually as we say, it might work in Frank’s favour because he will have to inherit that current group of players, minus such a big loss of Eden Hazard which we haven’t even mentioned there, how big a loss he’s going to be for Chelsea.

“So for Frank Lampard and for Chelsea, it’s actually a bit of a change of tack because they’ve mostly gone for more experienced managers and now they’ve gone down the route of Frank Lampard, who’s only had one senior season as a manager.

“It will be interesting to see how he gets on and I think they will probably be patient with him. The only question mark is Roman Abramovich because he is obviously not in the country.

“He’ll be keeping across things from wherever he is around the world and the difficulty is, when there are such a young group of players that are potentially gonna be played by Frank Lampard, they won’t have experienced the pressure of having to win every week.

“There is that underlying pressure that they have to go out there and get three points every week to try and win the league or at least to get in the top four.

“It’s whether those players are able to handle that pressure, whether Frank Lampard is able to handle that pressure. He’s shown he can as a player, but when he’s in charge that might be a different scenario.

“If they start to lose a few games, that is when the pressure might build. However, I do think the transfer ban will work in his favour and they will end up being patient with him.”

Eden Hazard left Chelsea for Real Madrid this summer for a fortune.

The Belgian joined the Blues back in the summer of 2012. In seven years at Chelsea he won multiple trophies. He covered every club trophy you can win in England barring the Champions League.

On a personal front, he won every award as well in England domestically and is now considered in the top three in the world. Hazard has now left for Madrid but his old teammates still respect the man he was.

‘Honestly, the times that he had to cope with the rumours”, the full back said as reported by The Daily Mail.

‘He always showed his desire not to sign for an English team, even if he could have better contracts.

‘He has never been a selfish person. He always had this dream to play for Real Madrid and we will see what happens.

‘But I think he has been very honest until the last day.’

Eden was a Chelsea man through and through it seems. He made it clear on multiple occasions how much he loved the club and how he would never even dream of playing for an English rival!

Respect!

Willian has backed former Chelsea legend Frank Lampard to succeed as a manager at Stamford Bridge.

“Is he definitely going to be the next manager? I don’t know,” Willian told football.london.

“But I think he would be up to the task.

“He was a great player, and he is a great person. He’s only starting his managerial career now, but he has everything it takes to be a success.”

“He is a legend,” Willian said. “He was an extraordinary player for the club, winning every possible title.

“He deserves so much respect and backing for what he has already achieved at the club. If Chelsea do bring him in, he will be very welcome.”

Speaking about his former boss Maurizio Sarri’s departure, Willian said, “I wish him all the best.” He went on to add, “May God bless his career and his new chapter at Juventus.”

Reports believe that Lampard and Chelsea are in an advanced stage of their talks and the former Chelsea midfielder could be announced as boss as early as next week.

With Chelsea facing a transfer ban and Eden Hazard having left the club, the onus of attacking from the wings will be primarily on Willian!

Two Defenders Poised To Quit Chelsea As Soon As Frank Lampard Arrives

Two Defenders Poised To Quit Chelsea As Soon As Frank Lampard Arrives

Frank Lampard has not even been appointed as the new Chelsea boss and the club is already in the midst of various changes.

The academy youngsters are beside themselves, thinking they have a greater opportunity of breaking into the senior side, the Chelsea board are eager to revamp even through the transfer ban by bringing in Matteo Kovacic permanently.

However, this managerial change is not expected to work out too well for two players and they are Marcos Alonso and Davide Zappacosta. Both defenders are looking to quit the Stamford Bridge this summer and are being forced to hold off on their decision until Lampard officially gets announced.

Alonso has been a regular in the Chelsea first team ever since he signed with them in 2016. However, he saw his minutes get cut short towards the end of the 2018/19 campaign under Maurizio Sarri.

Zappacosta is mostly a rotational option who has failed to top Ceasar Azpilicueta and previously Victor Moses to one of the starting XI spots. He came very close to returning to the Serie A in January as AS Roma look to steal him away for a bargain.

Alonso was also being pursued by Atletico Madrid but the La Liga outfit have shifted their attention towards Joao Felix.

If it were any other season, Chelsea fans might have been happy to bid these two farewell but these are trying times. The West London outfit are set to undergo a transfer ban which makes them unable to sign any players.

They are not exactly covered in the two fullback positions to lose both of them in one window and Lampard’s job is already expected to be difficult enough with the lack of his managerial experience.

Bayern Munich Returns With £22.5m Bid For Chelsea Youngster But Gets Rejected

Bayern Munich Returns With £22.5m Bid For Chelsea Youngster But Gets Rejected

The door on Callum Hudson-Odoi leaving Chelsea is still open and Bayern Munich have made an attempt to open it.

They just tabled a bid worth £22.5m but also got immediately rejected by the Blues. The winger’s contract is set to run for another 12 months but he is strongly predicted to sign an extension for at least 5 years.

Hudson-Odoi was a subject of strong interests from the Bundesliga champions back in January as well. Bayern had placed three separate bids, their last one rising to almost £40m.

At the time, the 18-year-old expressed an interest to leave but after a lot of cajoling through positive words in the press and a few consecutive starts, Chelsea managed to hold on to him for longer.

An unfortunate Achilles tendon injury robbed him of fully breaking into the senior side but he is widely tipped to be the long-term replacement for Eden Hazard. His injury recovery is going much faster than expected and the teenager could be back as soon as September.

The Bavarians have reignited their interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi after coming up short in their chase for Manchester City’s Leroy Sane. Chelsea have already rejected their advances before. What makes them think they will go for a lower offer?

Chelsea Youngster Gets Huge Boost In Injury Return

Chelsea Youngster Gets Huge Boost In Injury Return

Callum Hudson-Odoi has Chelsea fans excited with his most recent injury update.

The Blues winger posted a video of him training on his social media account with the message – “Recovery is going well, I hope to be soon be back on the pitch, let’s go!!”

This is huge since it has only been 2 months since the youngster ruptured his Achilles tendon. Hudson-Odoi was on a promising run with the Chelsea first team when he fell to an unfortunate incident in the 2-2 draw against West Ham United in Apri.

Earlier reports claimed that he would be back by August or September but the England international is hoping to get back even sooner. The video of him partaking in recovery exercises is a positive sign.

Chelsea have been hit with a massive blow this summer as they are banned from signing any players. Bringing in new faces to replace Eden Hazard would have been ideal but having the talented 18-year-old back in the squad is not too bad.

The Blues have already made provisions with the signing of Christian Pulisic. Callum Hudson-Odoi has also shown the pedigree to succeed into Hazard’s spot. The sooner he gets back to fitness the better the chances of Chelsea hitting their best stride next season.

The 5 Chelsea Loan Players Frank Lampard Should Promote Next Season

The 5 Chelsea Loan Players Frank Lampard Should Promote Next Season

According to the latest reports, Frank Lampard is set to become the next Chelsea manager and with the transfer ban looming, the Englishman’s job is about to get a whole lot tougher.

Many believe that Lampard will have to dig into the vast flock of loan players on Chelsea’s books to improve the team squad next season.

Another former Blues midfielder, Craig Burley told ESPN (via the Daily Star) the 5 returning stars who Lampard should look to implement into the senior side next season.

Fikayo Tomori

“I think [Kurt] Zouma’s chances are kind of running out, went to Everton on loan, I’m not sure. So, I’m going to go for young Tomori. Primarily because he was Derby’s player of the year. He did really well on loan under Frank Lampard, knows him.

“I’m surmising whether Frank thinks he’s ready to come in, not as a starter but as a squad player. A good opportunity for the youngster and maybe get some game time this year.”

Tiemoue Bakayoko

“A big disappointment at Chelsea and I suppose at AC Milan, where he was sort of up and down. But we know if you can get in his head, that he can cover the field as good as any player in the game.

“Again, I think from a manager’s point of view, that’s what I’m looking at. We know he can play in the Premier League but we just haven’t seen it properly.”

Mason Mount

“I’ll stick [Mount] in for the very same reasons I stuck [Tomori] in. A talented young boy who had a really good year at Derby, worked under Frank for a full year and Jody Morris who know him very well.

“And again with that ban, not starting XI players but youngsters who may come in and get an opportunity and give Frank an option.”

Alvaro Morata

“If we think they can’t sign anybody, if we presume the situation stays as it is, I think strangely enough the first port of call has to be [Morata].

“Now, I know it’s complicated with Atletico Madrid and the player himself and he probably doesn’t want to come back to London. But your only other option, with Higuain going back to his parent club, is Olivier Giroud.

“So you’ve got to say: ‘look, played for Real Madrid, played for Juventus, played in Champions League finals, led the line for Spain’. He’s better than what we saw, absolutely 100 per cent.”

Michy Batshuayi

“Just for the fact we know he’s a more proven player than Tammy Abraham. [Abraham] did it in the Championship, [Batshuayi] has done it in bits and pieces in all the loan places he’s been.”

Terry backs Lampard to succeed at the Bridge

John Terry has backed his former teammate and close friend to succeed at Chelsea.

“After the season he has had with Derby and with Chelsea’s transfer ban in place, there is no one better equipped than Frank to succeed at Chelsea. It is perfect timing for him and the club,” Terry told the Daily Mail.

“Frank was under pressure to succeed at Chelsea the day he arrived from West Ham and he never hid from that. He revelled in it and went on to become Chelsea’s greatest-ever player. I don’t believe there will be any trepidation from supporters. They love him. Lamps is a legend and now is the right time for him to come home.

“Roman is a successful businessman because he is so demanding but Frank will demand nothing less from himself. He [Lampard] would welcome that responsibility to make Chelsea more competitive and provide the stability the club has probably been lacking.”

“He has the tactical knowledge, enthusiasm and will have the backing of the players and fans to prove what he can do,” Terry said. “You could see by the improvements made by Mason Mount at Derby last season that Frank will have an impact on young players and improve them.

“For some time, perhaps only myself and Ruben Loftus-Cheek had come through the academy to become regulars and that has probably left many young players questioning their future. Callum Hudson-Odoi will be assured he has a big role to play at Chelsea.

“Having Frank in charge and the transfer ban will give young players throughout the academy belief that there is a genuine pathway into Chelsea’s first team.”

Chelsea agree to sign Kovacic from Real Madrid

Chelsea  have reportedly agreed a deal with Real Madrid for Mateo Kovacic.

Marca in Spain are reporting that Chelsea have decided to extend Kovacic’s loan and make it a permanent one. Chelsea are set to pay €50m to Real Madrid to bring in the Croatian on a five year deal.

Kovacic joined Real Madrid from Inter Milan a few years back but the high level of competition at Madrid involving Modric, Kroos and Casemiro meant that Kovacic was falling short of play time.

The highly talented Croatian  was left frustrated at the Spanish capital and found a way out last season when Chelsea decided to loan him for a season. Kovacic went on to make 51 appearances for the Blues as he became a mainstay in the midfield alongside Kante and Jorginho in Maurizio Sarri’s midfield.

Chelsea have till the 30th of June to switch the loan deal into a permanent one and it seems like they have exercised their option to do so. The Blues have a transfer ban and it means Kovacic is the only transfer they can make permanent as he had already been registered on the Blues roster.

With Frank Lampard yet to be appointed, are Chelsea once again leaving out the manager from major transfer decisions.

Vincent Kompany has backed Chelsea to hire Frank Lampard as their manager.

A return to Stamford Bridge is on the cards for Frank, who is currently the boss of Derby. It seems now a matter of when and not if with reports of the return getting stronger everyday.

And now, Frank’s former Manchester City teammate and Citizen legend Vincent Kompany has supported the decision to hire Lampard.

Speaking at his presentation as Anderlecht’s new player-manager on Tuesday, Kompany told reporters: “Sign him up. He is the man!

“Not only is Frank a great guy but someone who I learned so much from at a stage in my career. He was a bit older when he joined Manchester City and Frank was an incredible professional.

“What he brought at the time, he stepped the level up for everyone else so I know the impact of Frank Lampard on a team and I’m trying to have the same impact when it comes as an older player for Anderlecht.

“He’s up there with the most intelligent players so it’s a natural match with Chelsea, I completely support him.”
