Chelsea club legend Frank Lampard is expected to become the next manager at Stamford Bridge in the coming days. The Blues have shuffled through 10 managers in the last 15 years, some multiple times but are yet to find the correct man who they can trust for a long-term project.

And now with Lampard tipped to join the club, Harry Redknapp believes it would be a good move.

“If Chelsea come calling, it’s a difficult one for him to turn down.

“In my personal opinion, he’ll be the manager of Chelsea. It looks to me like it’s going to happen.

“It’s a no-lose situation unless he finishes outside the top six. Anything in the top six would be OK, but [qualifying for] the Champions League would be a good season.

“No one is expecting him to finish first or second, third maybe. If he makes the Champions League next year, he’s going to be a success.”

“He’s a true legend at Chelsea, one of the greatest players in the club’s history,” he said. “It may not come along again, you never know in football, the opportunity is there for him to go back now.

“He has a house around the corner from the training ground, his wife works in London.”

“Maybe it’s time for someone who is going to be bold enough to play those young players,” Redknapp said. “[Lampard] went to Derby, he brought young players in, Derby got to the play-off final with a few kids.

“It could be an interesting time for Chelsea, they are going to have to play some of their kids, give them a go.

“We keep talking about how good these kids are, they’re playing for England Under-17, Under-19, so get them in the first team, let’s see them play.

“Chelsea have a great group of young players, it might be a good chance to throw three or four of them in. You may have something special there.”

Antonio Conte wants Chelsea defender at Inter Milan

According to reports in Italy, Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is eager to have Gary Cahill at the club. The 2018/19 season was Cahill’s last for Chelsea and he is yet to find a new destination.

Cahill was a regular for Chelsea under Antonio Conte and captained Chelsea to the Premier League title in the 2016/17 season.

Cahill fell down the pecking order under Maurizio Sarri who preferred David Luiz. Thus, the dentre-back will leave the club.

Antonio Conte joined Inter Milan a few weeks back following the sacking of Luciano Spalletti. Conte wants to bring in Cahill to the San Siro to bolster Inter’s backline. The Nerazzurri conceded only 33 Serie A goals last season and Conte believes adding Cahill will deepen Inter’s defence.

Inter Milan already have two solid centre-backs in Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar and also have the experienced Miranda. The addition of an experienced defender like Cahill can sure help Inter as he is well acquainted with Conte’s footballing philosophy.

However, Cahill would find it very difficult to break into the playing XI.

Frank Lampard: Chelsea’s new manager?

Today, Chelsea announced the departure of Maurizio Sarri who has signed a three-year contract with Serie A giants Juventus. Things aren’t going well for Chelsea as they already have a transfer ban and have lost Eden Hazard. Now, they are without a manager.

There were many reports suggesting that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wanted to announce Sarri’s departure after announcing his replacement. However, Sarri has left and Chelsea are yet to announce a new manager.

There are many managers who are reportedly in Chelsea’s shortlist for the managerial job. These include Erik ten hag, Rafa Benitez and Javi Gracia. However, the favorite to replace Sarri is perhaps Chelsea’s greatest player of all-time Frank Lampard.

Lampard has been the favvorite to replace Sarri for a long time now. The current Derby County manager who will turn 41 on Thursday could possible be a good option for Chelsea because of his longevity at the club. Lampard spent 13 years at Chelsea, making nearly 650 appearances for the club and netting 211 goals, a club record.

He has good understanding of the club’s culture which is something Chelsea need at this moment. Given that Chelsea are facing a transfer ban, Chelsea will require players from their youth setup to join and impress in the senior team.

Besides, Lampard had a fine stint with Derby County. He guided the club to the Championship playoffs where they reached the final, eventually losing to Aston Villa. Under Lampard, Derby managed to beat Manchester United in the EFL Cup on penalties and came agonisingly close to beating Chelsea.

However, the one thing that could play against Lampard is his managerial experience. Derby County is Lamaprd’s very first managerial assignment and that is not ample experience for someone who should manage Chelsea. Besides, Lampard doesn’t have much to show as Derby County couldn’t gain promotion. This is why few people including former Chelsea star Ruud Gullit feel Lampard isn’t ideal for the job.

However, the quality of players is indeed different in Derby County and Chelsea. In Chelsea, Lampard will be managing the likes of N’Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Callum Hudson-Odoi, just to name a few.

It has been proven on so many instances that a manager’s record depends upon the quality of players he/she is managing.

Hence, even though Lampard does not have substantial managerial experience, the fact that he will have good players at his disposal will should help become Chelsea’s next manager.

Provided Lampard does become Chelsea manager, he will be the first Englishman to permanently manage the club since Glenn Hoddle did from 1993-1996.

Besides, Lampard there are several other managers who are considered for the job. Here are the odds of them succeeding Maurizio Sarri.

OFFICIAL: Maurizio Sarri departs from Chelsea to manage Juventus

Chelsea have confirmed that Maurizio Sarri will leave the club to become the new Juventus manager. Sarri joined Chelsea last summer following the sacking of Antonio Conte.

In his only season at Chelsea, Sarri guided the club to a third place finish in the Premier League in addition to the Europa League, his maiden managerial trophy. Sarri also managed Chelsea to the Carabao Cup Final. Under Sarri, Chelsea won 39 of their 63 matches while drawing 13 and losing 11.

There was plenty of talk of Sarri leaving Chelsea following the Europa League Final. Sarri himself said that he wanted to return to Italy which he will now.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia thanked Sarri for his services to the club. Granovskaia said, “In talks we had following the Europa League final, Maurizio made it clear how strongly he desired to return to his native country, explaining that his reasons for wanting to return to work in Italy were significant. He also believed it important to be nearer his family, and for the well-being of his elderly parents he felt he needed to live closer to them at this point.

Maurizio leaves Chelsea with thanks from us all for the work he and his assistants did during the season he spent as our head coach, and for winning the Europa League, guiding us to another cup final and a third-place finish in the Premier League.

We would also like to congratulate him on securing the role as big as any in Serie A and to wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Sarri will replace Massimiliano Allegri as Juventus manager and will sign a contract till 2022. Given his managerial record at Napoli, there’s no doubt that Sarri will guide Juventus to more trophies during his stint at the club.

Who will be the next Chelsea manager?

Former Chelsea bosses split between Lampard choice

Frank Lampard is set to become the next Chelsea boss. However, former Blues bosses are split on their vote to instill Lampard .

“He’s definitely the right man, he’s got personality,” Di Matteo told Sky Sports News. “I followed Derby last season and he plays very good football – he has all the experience in the world.”

“It’s a great fit, whether it’s right now or not? Only time can tell. You can’t say it’s too early, you have to give people a chance. He’s got all the tools and it will make a lot of people happy if he is the next manager.”

However, Gullit does not believe Lampard is the right man yet.

“[Lampard] has done nothing yet as a coach.” Gullit told Sky Sports News.

“[Chelsea] gave me this opportunity as well, we won [a lot] so that [inexperience] has nothing to do with it.

“I think it’s important for Chelsea that they have someone in charge they can relate to. I hope also they can get the right people around him who can help him.

“He must not make the mistake to get friends there, he has to make sure he gets some people there who have experience in managing and coaching teams. That will be the best thing for him.”

Jorginho’s thrilling tale will have you respect the Italian

Jorginho's thrilling tale will have you respect the Italian
Bildbyran

Chelsea star Jorginho has revealed the story of him coming into football and it is quite the head turner.

“I was playing in this tournament in Brazil and an agent scouted me. He took me and other players to his soccer school, which was 200km away from where I lived,” Jorginho told Chelsea’s official website.

“I spent two years there. The idea was he used it to scout players and anyone he thought was good enough he took over to Italy. He set me up with a trial at Verona in their youth section and they took me on.

“Initially when I moved over to Italy it was really easy because I was living my dream. Everything was brand new. Then I began to get into the routine: training, school, home, home, school, training. That’s all I did for 18 months.

“I had €20 to live on a week and I couldn’t do anything else, because you can’t with that amount of money. I couldn’t even play for the first year because my licence hadn’t come through from Brazil. All I did was literally train and go to school.”

Because Verona weren’t in Serie A at that time, they didn’t have a youth team so I played in a local youth team called Berretti. They played in Serie C1/C2. I did that for two years.

“Whilst I was playing for Berretti, I met a fellow Brazilian called Rafael who was a goalkeeper. I got friendly with him, and I told him I was living on €20 a week.

“He said ‘hang on a minute, there’s something not quite right about that’. He made some enquiries and it turned out my agent had been taking money and I knew nothing about it whatsoever.

“At that point I wanted to give up. I was completely devastated. I was fed up. I phoned home in tears and told my mum I wanted to come home and I didn’t want to play football any more.

“She said: ‘Don’t even think about it! You’re so close, you’ve been there for a few years, I won’t let you back in the house! You need to stay there and hang tough.”

“When I went back to Verona the Coach, Andrea Mandorlini, said he didn’t need me because I had only played in C2 and now they were in B.

But one of the directors who I knew quite well stuck up for me, and argued my case with the Coach.

“The Coach didn’t know what to do. He had to either improvise or play me. He played me and I did pretty well. I stayed in the team and from then on he was really supportive and did a great deal for me.”

Frank Lampard Asks Former Teammate To Join Him Back At Chelsea

Frank Lampard Asks Former Teammate To Join Him Back At Chelsea

Metro understands that Frank Lampard has asked his former teammate and close friend, Didier Drogba to join him at Chelsea when he takes over from Maurizio Sarri this month.

The former Blues midfielder is favourite in landing the managerial seat once the Italian departs for Juventus in the coming week. Reports have already stated that Chelsea are ready to pay Lampard’s £4m release clause to free him from his contract with Derby County.

The 40-year-old coach is already preparing for his next job by lining up the backroom staff that he will take with him back to the Stamford Bridge. His current assistant manager at Pride Park, Jodi Morris will tag along with him and so will Derby’s goalkeeper coach, Shay Given as per reports.

Lampard also took Drogba out to lunch and pitched the idea of the former Ivory Coast international being the new striker coach. Both of them enjoyed a rewarding period in South West London, winning the Champions Leauge together and countless other honours.

One person whose future at Stamford Bridge is not for certain is Gianfranco Zola. The Italian served as Sarri’s no. 2 this past season but he might not have a place in Lampard’s setup.

How Much Chelsea Will Have To Pay Derby For Frank Lampard

How Much Chelsea Will Have To Pay Derby For Frank Lampard

The latest reports claim that Chelsea will have to pay Derby County a compensation fee of £4m to steal Frank Lampard away from Pride Park.

Their former midfielder has done wonders with the Rams this past season to pull them to the finals of the Championship playoff in only his first season as a professional manager. The Blues are set to part ways with Maurizio Sarri after only a year with him as well.

News surfaced yesterday that Juventus had paid Chelsea £5m to release the 60-year-old from his contract at Stamford Bridge. While the Bianconeri lines up an official statement, Chelsea are looking to reinvest that sum on appointing one of their club legends in the managerial hot seat.

Lampard is the fourth all-time highest appearance maker for the Blues with 648 and he won 3 Premier League titles with them as a player. The man is also the club’s record goalscorer with 211.

He is a winner and he has shown a greater ambition to succeed as a manager. Due to his deep relationship with the South West London club, Lampard could be a great fit.

He although, will have to face plenty of challenges, the biggest one being Chelsea losing their best player in Eden Hazard. The transfer ban is also a headache which would mean that the Englishman will be unable to make any signings that he might want.

Gonzalo Higuain’s brother and agent Nicolas Higuain has confirmed that the player might be leaving Chelsea to go back to Juventus and hopefully play under Sarri at Turin.

“Gonzalo wants to respect his contract and therefore stay with Juventus for another two years,” Nicolas Higuain said.

“His performances at Juve have been good and playing for another team in Italy isn’t a workable solution.

“I don’t want to disrespect anyone, but if Gonzalo plays in Italy again then he only will for Juve, who own him.”

“The parties wanted each other. The Neapolitan people always loved Gonzalo and the boos he received after his transfer at Juve prove it.

“The pain was strong, but I think their reaction was normal because we’re talking about a passionate set of fans.”

“I think it’s still too early [to return to River Plate] because Gonzalo is 31 and, once he’s recharged his batteries, he’ll be good enough for Juventus.

“He has no second thoughts about quitting the national team. He felt he had to give way to younger players because staying in the national team for such a long time is a great responsibility and he preferred to withdraw himself.”

Lampard backed to become Chelsea manager by former Blues boss

Former Chelsea boss Glen Hoddle has backed Frank Lampard to become the next Chelsea boss.

With Chelsea’s current situation extremely complicated, very few names are being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. Maurizio Sarri is set to leave the club after Juventus made it clear they want the Italian boss.

This means Chelsea will need someone to replace him and Lampard, the former Chelsea player will be the perfect addition to the club as boss as he knows the club inside out. Moreover, he has already proven himself to be a capable candidate after showing his calibre managing Derby County.

He said, “I can see Frank managing Chelsea Football Club at some stage in his career. I don’t believe that you are too young or it is too early. It might be the right time for him.”

“I just feel that (with) Chelsea at this moment in time, there is a bit of a crossroads with what is going on off the pitch and on the pitch. (Eden) Hazard has gone, if the transfer embargo is there for two windows, it is going to be a real balancing act, and a really experienced manager would find it difficult.”
