Sarri delighted with Chelsea’s dominant display against Huddersfield
Chelsea got themselves back to winning ways with a 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
Gonzalo Higuain and Eden Hazard both scored braces before David Luiz capped off a dominant display with a fifth goal towards the end of the game.
And Maurizio Sarri was delighted with his team’s overall performance.
‘I think we started very well in the first 25-30 minutes. I saw my football, we moved the ball very fast, we had good movements without the ball and we were very dangerous. I’m really very happy, we played well for 90 minutes and defended well for 90 minutes. We played a good match but we need consistency now.’
Chelsea are still competing on four fronts, with the Blues scheduled to face Man City twice, Man United and Tottenham and the manager believes his players can rise to the challenge.
‘It will be very difficult, but also for our opponents. At the moment we have to be happy with our season because in February we are still involved in four different competitions. We know we have to fight to stay in the top four. Then we have to try to win something. It will be very difficult because in the Carabao Cup we had to play Liverpool and Tottenham, and now Man City, it’s like the Champions League. So here in England, everything is very difficult. The championship is very competitive and we know now we need consistency in our performances.
Higuain and Hazard complemented each other very well and Sarri was full of praises, saying the duo can take the club to greater heights.
‘Today they were very motivated but we lost 4-0 in the last match so they had to react. Now we have to understand the level of motivation must be the same in every match.’
‘I know very well when Higuain arrived he wasn’t at the top of his physical condition. Now he’s improving and I’m happy because apart from the goals he’s very suitable to play close to Eden.
‘On the pitch, they’re very suitable to play with one close to the other. For us, it’s very useful to have Higuain because he will be able to score a lot of goals, but it’s also important for Eden.’
