Chelsea manager Graham Potter sacked after six months in charge.

The former Brighton manager was appointed as Thomas Tuchel’s replacement back in September last year and signed a five-year contract with the Blues.

Chelsea are now down in the bottom half of the league table after their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, making Potter’s 11th defeat in 31 games this season.

Some senior figures at Chelsea wanted to remove Potter as the club manager back in January.

The English manager has been under immense pressure in the last few months and described his position as “the toughest job in football.”

“Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club. Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition.

“In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future.”

Julian Nagelsmann is currently on the shortlist of replacements.
