According to the latest reports, N’Golo Kante won’t be leaving Chelsea this summer.
Inter Milan and Real Madrid have expressed a strong interest in prying him away from the Blues but have been unsuccessful in their attempts.
Frank Lampard still rates the defender highly and cannot imagine a midfield setup without him in the fold. Kante brings a level of resoluteness that no other midfielder in the Chelsea squad boasts of. Even with his frequent injury spells, the Frenchman proves to be a highly effective player when on the pitch.
There were talks of selling him to raise more funds this summer but there is no need. Chelsea seem to be in profit even after expending over £160m on five signings this summer. They had the money left over from Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard’s sale burning a hole in their pockets. Now, they are looking to improve their backline with other names expected to head out.
Michy Batshuayi, Emerson Palmieri, Kurt Zouma and Kepa Arrizibalaga could all be on their way out this summer. Chelsea are looking to offload all these names and more if they can. Kante remains an important member of this squad and a huge part of Lampard’s revolution at Stamford Bridge.
