Robert Green is Chelsea’s best player in training according to defender David Luiz.
Green called it quits on his 20-year long professional career following his one-season spell at Chelsea, making no appearances for the Blues.
When asked who was Chelsea’s best player as the season curtailed, Luiz replied, “Robert Green. Because to see the passion he had for training after a long career knowing already he was going to retire and did not play one game in the season, but having the same passion, was for me someone to admire.”
Luiz will hope to play in Chelsea’s pre-season matches, the first of which is against Irish club Bohemians. Chelsea’s second pre-season game is also against an Irish club, St. Patrick’s Athletic.
After this, Chelsea travel to Japan where they play Kawasaki Frontale and Barcelona. Their final three pre-season matches are against Red Bull Salzburg, Reading and Borussia Monchengladbach after which, Chelsea take on Liverpool in the 2019 UEFA Super Cup at Istanbul.
