Chelsea In Danger Of Losing Veteran Winger Over Contract Policy

Chelsea In Danger Of Losing Veteran Winger Over Contract Policy

According to the latest reports, Willian is unhappy with the 1-year contract offered to him by Chelsea and could on his way out of the club.

The Brazilian winger who turned 30 last year in August wants a minimum of 3 years in the new deal. He only has 17 more months left in his term with the Blues with interests chiming in from Paris Saint-Germain over the past month.

Willian still holds an important role under Maurizio Sarri, having made 24 appearances this term. However, the former Shakhtar Donetsk player has been inconsistent in his duties of late. He has contributed with 3 goals and 4 assists this term, totalling his tally to 51 and 46 in as many as 253 games for Chelsea.

Roman Abramovich has introduced a policy at Stamford Bridge that no player over the age of 30 will be offered more than a year’s worth of a contract. This has already caused some tension between David Luiz and the club and now it has upset yet another one of their veteran players.

Willian has served the South West London outfit for almost 6 years now, maintaining his starting role under various managers. He might have not reached the elite status that fans expected him to be at but he has still be crucial in the club’s success over the years.

It will be a shame to lose him next summer especially without any real depth from the benches. Callum Hudson-Odoi is still being heavily pursued by Bayern Munich and Eden Hazard is touted to leave for Real Madrid on a massive transfer fee.

Only Christian Pulisic’s summer entry could offer some hope in this particular rumour chain

Gonzalo Higuain Very Quickly Made Aware Of Difference Between Premier League And Serie A

Gonzalo Higuain has just featured in the last 2 Premier League games for Chelsea and he has already noticed some distinct changes from his time at the Serie A.

The Argentine striker scored a brace in Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town and said, “I can see there is a change from the Italian league because here the defenders go into you harder, especially when you receive the ball to feet. This is a big difference, but I have got a good impression of English football and as I gradually get to know my team-mates it will only get better for me.”

“When I was growing up I watched all of the different leagues, but especially lately you see a lot more of the Premier League so I knew about it before I came here. I think it’s a very fascinating league and also the way they play here in England — with a lot of dynamism — is really great.”

“The stadiums are full, there’s a great atmosphere, so this is something very nice for the players and in the streets you can go about your day very calmly, very relaxed. You don’t have to worry about many things and this is important for the players because it actually allows you live life like an ordinary person.”

The Blues fans were delighted to see the former Real Madrid man score with two stunning efforts on goal at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard reaches decision over Chelsea future!

It is safe to say Eden Hazard has dropped more hints about wanting to play for Real Madrid than the number of goals he has scored this season.

Only a few weeks ago, when asked by France Football if he would like to go, his response was honest and candid: “Why not? You know it very well. You’re asking the question, but you know what the answer will be so you don’t have to ask it.”

He feels he has achieved all he can. “I’ve won everything in England, apart from the Community Shield, but that doesn’t mean I’m leaving. I’ve always said that I wanted to explore something different after England but there are also things that might make me stay. After the World Cup, I wanted to leave, but in the end I stayed at Chelsea and I’m playing one of the best seasons so far.”

It was clear he was waiting to make up his mind and it now would see that he has. In a recent interview he was quoted telling RMC: “I know what I am going to do. I have made a decision.”

Hold your breath Chelsea fans, the winger has left us guessing just like the hundreds of defenders he played against.

Cole talks about his Chelsea and Arsenal days

Ashley Cole has opened up on his days of football for Chelsea and Arsenal.

Asked about his move to Chelsea, Cole agreed it was naive but admitted that it was something that was meant to be.

“I was young, naive, stupid, but it was something I felt I had to do. The way I acted I was a little bit stubborn at the time. Maybe I should have sat down with a few more people at the time and gone through it with an ice-cool head.”

“I was a bit hot-headed and didn’t realise what I was doing at the time but I don’t regret it. When I look back now I think it was something that was maybe meant to happen.”

Cole went on to win all club level trophies in Europe and England with Chelsea but has however admitted that his favourite trophy was the first league title he won with Arsenal.

“Being a young kid from east London where I grow up to play for my boyhood club Arsenal and then get a chance to win a Premier League medal, I think that’s the first one that I enjoyed [the most] and that’s probably No 1 on my medal list,” he said on Sky Sports.

Neville predicts where Chelsea will finish in PL race

Gary Neville has predicted Chelsea will have to fight off Manchester United for the fourth place. He thinks Arsenal will fade down to sixth and here is why.

“Unai Emery is doing the best job that he possibly could do. It’s a squad that needs additions and it needs change,” Neville told Sky Sports. “He needs to sail that ship into shore, some need to disembark and the ones that he wants to get back on need to sail back out to sea with him.”

“This first season for him is all about working out which players are going to be on the ship next season and testing out different things. He’s finding out a lot about his players all the time. For instance, Matteo Guendouzi was fantastic against Manchester City.”

“He’s 19-years-old and that was a really good performance. Emery can build around things like that. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is always a threat but with the rest of the team there’s a lot to work on. It does need some change, but he will need time.”

“He might even need all next season as well. We shouldn’t really be rushing Unai Emery and Arsenal in respect of what he’s trying to achieve at the club.” Neville added: “Looking at the team I think sixth is about right to be honest.”

“I watched Manchester United at Leicester and they look stronger now. When you look at Manchester United’s forward line with Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial, Arsenal haven’t got that. Even in midfield United have got Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera and they are now looking stronger at the back.”

“Arsenal will end up sixth and it’s between Manchester United and Chelsea for fourth and fifth.”

Courtois revelations infuriates Chelsea

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has readily burned all bridges with his ex-employers.

His move to Madrid was condemned by most professionals due to the unethical methods he adopted and the shambolic excuses he came up with to justify his actions.

However, in a desperate attempt to save his name, Courtois has now come out and blamed the whole thing on Chelsea boss Marina Granovskaia. He said: “In March, Marina [Granovskaia] and I had a meeting in which I indicated that I wanted to leave. Living in London and the schedule of the Premier League made it impossible for me to regularly see my children, who lived in Madrid.”

“What turned out? After the World Cup, a departure was suddenly not that obvious anymore. The possible replacements were too expensive. Sorry, that was not the appointment. Then you have to work hard for a moment.”

Chelsea have vehemently disagreed with Courtois’ version of events and are reportedly furious with their former player’s pathetic attitude to find himself in the right by blaming the club.

The on pitch performance for Chelsea so far has actually taken an up turn since Courtois’ departure since the Blues now have a keeper who can sweep the ball unlike the Belgian who despite all his reflexes in goal, was horrendous with the ball at his feet.

Sarri Needs Time At Chelsea: Cole

0

Former Chelsea ace Ashley Cole is of the opinion that Maurizio Sarri needs some time to settle down at Chelsea and effectively implement his tactic of “Sarri-ball”. The Italian gaffer has not been able to hold onto the strong start that he gave to his side in the Premier League after taking charge at Stamford Bridge this season.

Speaking on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports, the Derby County defender said, “I don’t think he’s under pressure just yet. He’s come into a team and tried to put his philosophy there. I think it is down to the players as well, they’ve got to react and understand how he wants them to play. I watched ‘Sarri-ball’ at Napoli when I was in Italy and the football they played from the back with the goalkeeper was amazing. Now, all the players have got to get on board with that.”

Cole added, “I think it boils down to confidence. The Napoli players knew how he wanted them to play, they had the confidence to play it out of the back and they went with the philosophy. With Chelsea, some of the players have to get with it sooner rather than later but he’s definitely a great manager.”

He concluded, “In terms of the players, if they win a few games then everything is rosy again. On recent results, top four wouldn’t be enough. Sarri needs to get a little bit of time. I think he can bring that exciting, Italian football to England with Chelsea but they have to be on board a little bit as well.”

Chelsea looking to sign €150 million rated midfielder

The latest rounds of bizarre rumours have stated that Chelsea are keen on signing Atletico Madrid’s stylish midfielder Saul.

Now signing Saul might not sound so bad, in fact Chelsea could do with his quality in midfield. However, the reports get bizarre as Chelsea are expected to pay €150 million if they are to acquire his services.

Saul has been a brilliant player for Atletico Madrid over the last few years and has a contract that will take him in his 30s at the club. The player is creative in midfield, does not shy away from a fight in midfield and is also known to be a versatile cog in the side as he can play in wings when needed.

Chelsea on their part could be set to part ways with Eden Hazard in the summer as Real Madrid circle around the Belgian. The Blues will need themselves a replacement for Hazard who is one of the better players at Stamford Bridge.

Although Hazard’s sale might actually fund a budget big enough for Chelsea to buy Saul, it is difficult to imagine Abramovich throwing out that kind of money for a player who cannot be a direct replacement for Hazard.

Barkley hailed by Matt Law

Matt Law has backed Ross Barkley ahead of Mateo Kovacic to start for Chelsea in midfield.

“I thought he was excellent,” he told Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement. “A lot has been made of Jorginho and his role but, when it is [N’Golo] Kante, Jorginho and [Mateo] Kovacic, it’s a very stuffy midfield three. There’s not a lot of creativity there.”

“Jorginho goes sideways, Kante’s actually getting used to his role very well but Kovacic is another up and downer. He doesn’t score or assist, and I just think with Barkley in there they’ve a got a little bit more attacking impetus.”

“They’ve got a little bit more magic in there and I thought he ran the midfield. They should stick with him for a while now.”

Barkley was signed by Chelsea in the winter transfer window last year but spent the last few months of Conte’s tenure on the operating table recovering from an old injury. He started the season brightly under Sarri but faded off in the middle part.

Chelsea fans will be happy to see their local boy back in action and playing well for the Blues.

Why Higuain will flop at Chelsea

0
Bildbyran

Ian McGarry believes that Gonzalo Higuain will flop at Chelsea.

“He’s the puzzle wrapped in a conundrum wrapped in a box called Pandora. Theoretically he’s playing under his favourite manager, a manager who got him 30 plus goals in two seasons at Napoli.”

“That’s why he’s at Chelsea now because Sarri effectively demanded that he come because [Alvaro] Morata clearly has not been a happy person in London or at Chelsea. Higuain theoretically should be the answer to Sarriball. Unfortunately, Chelsea are not a team who cross the ball in the way that Napoli did.”

“Even though they have so-called wingers, I’d say they are more attacking midfielders than they are wingers because Willian, Pedro and Eden Hazard all like to come in off the wing and pass in behind or around the corner rather than actually take the ball to the by-line and pass it through.”

“What Higuain does best is arrive at the right rime, gets ahead of defenders or can go one-on-one. I think there’s a clash of styles, unlike as I was describing with [Michy] Batshuayi and Crystal Palace with regards to it will take a lot of work to make Higuain get anywhere near 10 goals between now and the rest of the season.”

“I’m putting my neck on the line and say that’s a miss.”
