Frank Lampard has asked all Chelsea fans to keep a little more faith in the club and him – because that is what is most important right now for the team.

In light of Chelsea not signing any new players in this January transfer window, he states that trust in the ongoing project is what the club needs.

‘At the start of the season, among a lot of fans and a lot of pundits and commentators from outside, nobody had us in their top four and people were saying if you are in the top eight or top 10 we understand. Obviously not fighting relegation but now probably because we got ahead of the curve, expectation was that if we are to hang on to fourth, a particular result is not good,” voiced Lampard.

‘I get that, expectations change, but the reality is now that we are in fourth but it is going to be a really big fight. Now we have to be up for that challenge, young or more experienced players, but the first person who is up for that challenge is me.’

‘When we lost against Liverpool, I have never seen a reaction to a home loss like that because the fans were saying we get it, we are young, there is a transitional feel about it, and we need that trust even more than ever for the next four months.

‘As we have seen in recent games there are times when all elements aren’t coming off for us, finishing being the main one, and with young players, as much as I want to drive them and be strong with them at times, we have to accept that sometimes with players who are very young and were in the Championship last season or playing youth football or whatever, coming into the first team there are times that are tough for them. I know the fans will give us that trust and we will certainly need it to keep pushing this season.

‘A lot of the Chelsea fans I meet in London saw us when we lacked a stand or cars were parked at the back of the stadium or we were dropping down the divisions, and now they can’t believe it so they are very realistic.

‘So if there is effort and drive from myself and from the players I think they will accept pretty much everything. So after the talk and this window has gone, that is all we can concern ourselves with, and being positive.’

Lampard believes Reece James has more potential than current performance

Lampard has to admit that Reece James has been up to mark in the recent games, but he believes he can perform much better!

“Yeah, that’s not new, that’s been in our recent form,” Lampard said about the youngster’s crossing ability. “I know he had a small injury and missed the game against Arsenal and Hull.

“He is a weapon for us with his crossing. We should have got on the end of them more, for sure, and he is solid defensively. When you think about his age, you can get excited about Reece.

“There is a lot more he can do, obviously, but I’m really pleased with the way he is developing at the moment.

“There are all sides to his game he can work. I’m not going to improve his crossing I don’t think, that is a bit of a natural one.

“But at the same time we can talk about his position, the link up with the winger who is in front of him, the midfield players, his defensive attributes, because that is first and foremost and making sure he is in the right position and recovers to the right areas.

“He is very open to that, and should be. As with the young Chelsea players are, they are sponges. They want to learn and are easily coached.

“And they want to be coached because they want to get better.”

Cavani reveals why he turned down Chelsea transfer

Cavani reveals why he turned down Chelsea transfer

Chelsea’s striker problem is a real cause of menace for them.

Their only striker is Tammy Abraham who is confident and bright. However, is the only in form player and is in danger of real burn out.

Chelsea came close to solving it in January when they were linked with moves for Lyon’s Moussa Dembele, PSG’s Edinson Cavani amongst other strikers.

While Lyon rejected Chelsea’s bid, the case with Cavani was different.

A number of teams like Atletico Madrid and Manchester United were also linked with him. However, the striker, whose contract ends in the summer has his heart set only on joining Atletico Madrid. Hence, Chelsea failed to lure him in, as explained by his brother and agent.

“Cavani was willing to receive less than with PSG,” Walter Guglielmone, as per The Mirror.

“Atletico could not cover the total economic cost of the operation and PSG did not want to lower the amounts he was asking for. Atletico Madrid did not close the agreement.

“Do you think that Edi did not play for almost a month at PSG so that I could drop the operation for a commission and that Edi did not fulfil his dream of going to Atletico Madrid?

“If it were for money, Edi would have gone to England, Manchester or Chelsea.”

How Chelsea can score more goals this season

How Chelsea can score more goals this season

Chelsea know that their way to the Champions League spot this season is through goals.

Lampard has created an exciting team this season at the Bridge. His boys have scored plenty of goals but their defence is still leaky.

With the goals now drying up, Chelsea know their quest for the 4th spot is now in danger. They have to find a way to score more goals since solidifying the back is not an easy fix.

However, Chelsea have not signed any attacking player. Where will the goals come from? Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has given a brilliant solution to the team’s problems.

“Yeah, that’s not new, that’s been in our recent form,” Lampard said about the youngster’s crossing ability. “I know he had a small injury and missed the game against Arsenal and Hull.

Lampard explains Chelsea’s underdogs tags

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has explained how a bad January transfer window has made the Blues the underdogs in the race for top four.

‘From my view, and this is not to talk ourselves down as we are six points clear in fourth, but now we probably become the underdogs and the outsiders to a certain point, because teams around us have strengthened,’ Lampard told chelseafc.com.

‘The answer is work. I have to be the first person to remain positive, no matter what, and I have to be truthful when I speak out loud because Chelsea fans are listening and they want to best.

‘We know recruitment is huge for a team that wants to be successful. Look no further than Liverpool or Manchester City in recent years. People will get bored if I keep crying about that, the players have to work.

‘At the start of the season, among a lot of fans and a lot of pundits and commentators from outside, nobody had us in their top four and people were saying if you are in the top eight or top 10 we understand.

‘Obviously not fighting relegation but now probably because we got ahead of the curve, expectation was that if we are to hang on to fourth, a particular result is not good.

Alan Shearer counsels Tammy Abraham post Leicester City tie

Alan Shearer has given some pointers to striker Tammy Abraham following the Blues playing against Leicester City, which ultimately ended up in a 2-2 draw.

The principle Chelsea striker once again could not score a goal – this is the third time in the league games. Abraham suffered a hip injury and is back playing, but he is definitely tired out of his mind. Being the only striker Chelsea is reliant on and has named him in every starting XI, Abraham is bound to burn out soon. And the Leicester City draw proves that it is happening already.

“A lot of the time I listen to his manager Frank (Lampard) after games and he says that Chelsea are not killing teams off,” Shearer said of Match of the Day,” said Shearer.

“This is not a criticism of Tammy Abraham because I am a huge fan of his. He has got a massive future in the game and he’s scored 13 league goals this season already, which is a very good return.

“But to get from 15 goals to 25, which he is capable of, you just need a little help and reminding of what the good things to do are.

“There was a very good run from him and Pedro didn’t play him in. You could then see the anger in him and he had his arms up in the air and so he should do because that ball should have gone into him.

“There was a moment when Reece James put the ball in the box and he had to be in control of that situation. He shouldn’t have let Jonny Evans get there first.

“He provided another good run and he needed to go across Soyuncu and not come back inside. He needed more confidence to go on his left foot.

“It’s a really difficult role to play even in his first season in the Premier League like he is. Please don’t take that as a criticism as we are fans of him. But to get to that next level, those are the bits that he needs to improve on.”

Willy Cabellero Did Enough To Please Frank Lampard In Surprise Start

Willy Cabellero Did Enough To Please Frank Lampard In Surprise Start

Frank Lampard was pleased with Willy Cabellero’s performance in 2-2 draw against Leicester City.

Having started the FA Cup fixture against Hull City last week, the Spaniard made a surprise start for Chelsea over €80m signing, Kepa Arrizibalaga on Saturday.

Lampard already explained before the match on why he decided to drop Kepa following his recent performances. He also backed Cabellero’s effort, claiming him to be helpless in both Leicester City’s goals.

“I thought his performance was pretty good, he makes a good save and was comfortable with his feet,” Lampard told BT Sport. “I was right behind the Harvey Barnes goal and it was typical, the deflection and instantly it was in. There was not much he could do with either goal, so I’m pleased.”

“I think a fair point, on play,” the former England international said in his post-match media conference. “The first half I think we were the better team. I know they had some good chances, we gifted them a few, but I think our work off the ball and some of it on it was good. To play with that personality. But that second half they had the opportunity of course late in the game. I think it evened itself out. I am pleased with a point.”

Kepa Can Be Ousted Out Of Chelsea By Frank Lampard

0
Kepa Can Be Ousted Out Of Chelsea By Frank Lampard

Kepa Arrizibalaga is not exactly Frank Lampard’s favourite player but reports suggests the Chelsea shot-stopper might not appear again for the side.

The Spain was dropped from the Blues first team making way for Willy Cabellero to start against Leicester City this weekend.

Obviously, a 38-year-old vet isn’t a long-term option for Lampard but allowing him to feature over Chelsea’s record signing speaks volumes. Kepa has quite evidently been poor this season. He has dropped in an out of form, keeping just 5 cleansheets in 24 league games and concedign 32 goals.

Lampard has lost faith in the 25-year-old and is ready to move on to a newer face next summer. Kepa has not come remotely close to justifying his €80m price tag which made him the world’s most expensive goalkeeper. That fact also makes it even harder for Chelsea to completely give up on him.

There is no doubt Lampard will be focusing on reinforcements in other outfield positions from June. Chelsea are crying out for more scoring threat and a quality left-back. However, there could also be an immediate need to find a Kepa-replacement. It is going to be very difficult to move the Spaniard out but then again, Chelsea managed to find a home for Alvaro Morata. You can’t really discount the club’s business capabilites.

Jorginho pulls of crazy 360 – leaves two Leicester players confused!

Jorginho pulls of crazy 360 - leaves two Leicester players confused!

Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw against Leicester City yesterday!

The two former champions of the Premier League clash met in an eventful match which had pretty much of everything. There were flying chances galore from both sides.

There were some truly spectacular build up plays and 4 goals in total. Whether it was Chilwell’s bursting forward to finish off a tap in or Rudiger’s brilliant looping header which saw Schemeichel stranded as he concded, the quality of the match was high.

It was examplary of a typical fast paced English Premier League match – speed and quality and full of heart beat moments. One particular moment however, which stood out in a match full of excitement  was the skill from our very own Jorginho Frello!

Leicester’s hard press was tough to beat for Chelsea and most teams this season – however, not for Chelsea’s vice captain.

He pulled off a seamless 360 in the face of intense pressing from Leicester and had two on rushing players looking like sitting ducks.

Here check it out yourself!

Lampard has said that he was happy with Willy Cabarello along with Antonio Rudiger for scoring the goals against Leicester City on Saturday – and he is okay with the 2-2 draw.

He knew that Cabarello could not do much with any of Leicester City’s goals.

“I thought his performance was pretty good, he makes a good save and was comfortable with his feet,” Lampard told BT Sport.

“I was right behind the Harvey Barnes goal and it was typical, the deflection and instantly it was in. There was not much he could do with either goal, so I’m pleased.”

“But that second half they had the opportunity of course late in the game. I think it evened itself out. I am pleased with a point.”

On Rudiger, Lampard added: “He brings an aggression and a presence in everything that he does, which is good because we have young players in that area as well.

“I was delighted with his two goals, we need to score more from set-pieces, particularly in these games against good opposition where it is tight. I am really pleased with Toni.”
