Frank Lampard sheds light on his clash with Jose Mourinho

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard had a row with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho on Tuesday.

The duo clashed during their Carabao Cup match on Tuesday and Frank Lampard has dismissed Jose Mourinho’s claim that he was simply offering advice to his former player.

“I don’t think any remarks made on the touchline during a game can be called advice,” said Lampard.

“They can probably be wrapped up as advice after a game when you manage to get back in the game and win on penalties. So I don’t think that’s the case.

“I would always be happy to take advice not just from fellow managers, but also my players, my staff, people I respect and listen to in football, outside football, and in life. I think that’s what moulds you as a manager.

“So I don’t think that Jose incident was ever advice; it wasn’t that.

“I think on the line if you look like you are forced and trying to be what might be perceived as arrogant, for what that looks like, or trying to portray a character, I think that’s something that can become maybe not real, or maybe boring from the outside.

“I certainly don’t do that, I just react as I see fit in the game, in the competitive nature sometimes you can reflect and go ‘was that too much or not’. That’s fine.

“I don’t think people should expect to not get caught up in the excitement and that was just it. It was no big deal.”

Tiemoue Bakayoko Could Be Offloaded To Napoli

Tiemoue Bakayoko Could Be Offloaded To Napoli

According to reports, Chelsea have an offer for Tiemoue Bakayoko from Napoli.

A loan deal is what is on the table and honestly, the Blues can’t expect much esle either.

After all, earlier reports claimed that AC Milan were originally the favourites to land him. A deal never really finalized, allowing PSG, Napoli and a host of other clubs to chime in with offers of their own.

Bakayoko’s future at Chelsea is over. After flopping out in his first season in the Premier League, he spent the past two years on loan to Milan and former club, AS Monaco. Foot Mercato understands that Bundesliga outfit, Hertha Berlin have also contacted the player’s representative.

Bakayoko would not oppose a move to Germany, given how shallow team’s interests are in this transfer window. Atletico Madrid and Valencia are also thought to be admirers even though they are yet to make formal offers.

Napoli have a fight on their hands for Bakayoko but are looking for a loan deal of €3m with an option to buy for €30m to €33m. This would be fully acceptable to Chelsea and even the player. The Serie A side is being led by Gennaro Gattuso, under whom Bakayoko shone at AC Milan.

Chelsea handed easy draw in CL

Chelsea have been handed an easy group in this year’s Champion’s League draw!

The Blues finished fourth last season to qualify for the Champions League and have now been handed what can possibly turn out to be the easiest group.

Besides the two matches against Sevilla, Chelsea should be picking up 12 points from the group at the very least.

The Blues were in the second pot and have been drawn in Group E with Sevilla, Krasnodar and Rennes.

It will be an emotional return for Chelsea’s new signing Edouard Mendy who until a fortnight back used to play as a goalkeeper for Rennes.

The Blues have already been knocked out of the Carling Cup after losing their penalty shootout 4-5 to Tottenham Hotspur.

It now means that until January, Chelsea only have 22 fixtures to play out of which 5-8 of them should be relatively easy to win for Frank Lampard’s men.

This could prove to be pivotal as Frank can use this time and these matches to gel his team together or a flurry of bad results against mediocre opponents could cost him his job.

Either way, come January, Chelsea will be strongly expected to make it through to the Champions League knockout stages.

Chelsea’s new signing Ben Chilwell is a huge admirer of former Blues defender Ashley Cole.

Ben Chilwell joined the Blues on a five-year contract for a reported £50 million.

Ashley Cole’s trophy-laden Blues career is the template for his own Stamford Bridge stretch.

The former England international advised Chilwell to die for the badge to become a success at Chelsea Football Club.

“Coming to Chelsea as well as talking to the manager, a big factor for me was speaking to Ashley Cole when I came here,” Chilwell said to reporters on Thursday.

“Seeing the career that he had here, obviously I wanted to emulate that, and still do, and to have someone like that who has played for Chelsea, who’s English, it was important for me.

“I spoke to my agent because I was quite keen on getting to meet him, so I could just get to know him, and just pick his brains on what he thought of Chelsea as a club, how he reached the success that he reached here.

“I was quite keen to have that chat to find out things like that, and obviously I’m going to work as hard as I can over the next however many years to try and emulate what he’s done here.

“He just said: ‘Work hard’. I know it sounds pretty cliched, but he said the fans love players here who just want to work hard and who want to die for the badge.

“He said when he first came here he wanted to win for the club, he loved playing for Chelsea.

“And he said if I can take that on board, that wanting to really love the club and to win for it, then I should have a great career here.”

Ross Barkley explains Chelsea exit

Ross Barkley has opened up on his season-long loan move from Chelsea to Aston Villa.

The Blues midfielder was signed from Everton over two and a half years back. However, the English man never showed any signs of improvement over that period despite getting plenty of game time.

He has had plenty of chances under both Sarri and Lampard but his one-dimensional play and lack of quick thinking always cost him his spot and Chelsea the match on multiple ocassions.

The player, on loan at Villa now has had a go at Chelsea for being unfair to him, a mentality which just shows that he was never self-reflective about his game, but rather obnoxious over his shortcomings.

Speaking to the Villa website, the Englishman said: “The last couple of years I’ve been stop-start, performing well and then being out of the team.

“To come here and have the chance to play and perform regularly is a big thing for me. With the Euros at the end of the season, it’s a big target for me and hopefully I can be there.

“Dean Smith swayed me with the way he spoke to me, and it looks like it’s going to be an exciting season.”

Why Chelsea Should Not Even Think About Selling Antonio Rudiger

Why Chelsea Should Not Even Think About Selling Antonio Rudiger

Chelsea have been warned against selling Antionio Rudiger by former player, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Several clubs have submitted their bids for the 27-year-old who has fallen out of favour under Frank Lampard.

He was even absent during Chelsea’s Carabao Cup meeting with Tottenham, effectively becoming their fifth choice centre-back for the season. West Ham and Tottenham were keen on landing him before the window closes but latest reports suggest, a move to PSG is more likely.

Hasselbaink believes Rudiger is still Chelsea’s best option in defence. He was a big hit after signing from AS Roma while Antonio Conte was still in charge. The German’s return from a long injury lay-off has been rather more disappointing than his overall Chelsea career.

“They’ve all made mistakes but for me their best centre-back is Rudiger,” Hasselbaink told Sky Sports.

“At the end of last season he didn’t have his best spell, he was out of the team but if you look at a whole season he has done the best. He normally smells danger and he clears it up. For Rudiger not to have played yet something is going on.”

Lampard remained tight-lipped on the defender’s future after the Spurs defeat. When asked whether Rudiger’s future lies away from Stamford Bridge, the English boss said, “No, it’s not at that point.”

Chelsea Gets Major Christian Pulisic Injury Boost

Chelsea Gets Major Christian Pulisic Injury Boost

Chelsea has got a major injury boost as Pulisic is expected to come back to action.

Chelsea fans will finally see Christian Pulisic back in action after a while. He hasn’t appeared for any Chelsea matches since he injured his hamstring in the FA Cup final, where the Blues lost the FA Cup to Arsenal.

“I’ll say that I’m feeling very good, and very ready to play. I’m missing it a lot,” said the midfielder.

Frank Lampard had earlier raised some concerns about Christian Pulisic’s fitness.

He said: ‘There is always a concern about players’ fitness when the history says there has been some injuries and last season we did have it with Christian. I was questioned many times on my position on Christian when he did play and didn’t play.

‘Of course, when you look at a player with his recent record, you are trying to find the right way, the right balance of getting the best out of him which we saw in big periods last year and making sure you don’t overcook him and leave him susceptible to injury, particularly a player of his explosive pace and balance. That’s a fine line.

‘We are working on that and Christian is also very open to that. He wants to play, he is so hungry to play and he is very nearly fit now but it is certainly something we will have to manage with him this season because we have all seen the talent and it is something we want to get right.

OFFICIAL: Ross Barkley joins Aston Villa on loan

OFFICIAL: Ross Barkley joins Aston Villa on loan

Chelsea has loaned out Ross Barkley to Aston Villa.

The English midfielder joined Chelsea from Everton for £15 million in the winter market of 2018. Used sparingly by Conte, he became a regular under Sarri and had plenty of chances under Frank Lampard last season as well.

However, in all that time, despite having a good bit of talent on the ball, he has not developed mentally to become a decent midfielder. He remained too slow with his decision making and one-dimensional in his play.

Chelsea has now brought a temporary end to this by loaning him out for the season to Aston Villa. The Villains have had a hit transfer market this season and adding Barkley will be a good signing for them.

As for Chelsea, the Blues already had too many options in midfield. With Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Billy Gilmour, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz, the three midfield positions at the club are more than covered and Barkley would not have ideally gotten a peak in.

It is perhaps in hope that he will perform better and develop into a player we can sell for a decent fee because all cards on the table – he is simply not Chelsea material.

Lampard reacts to Tottenham defeat

Chelsea lost their EFL Cup 3rd round match to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues took an early lead through Timo Werner, who scored his first goal for the club. However, the second half mirrored the first but for opposite camps as Tottenham took control.

They equalised through Eric Lamela and the match went to a penalty shootout. Chelsea missed with their final kick as Mason Mount’s effort was saved by Hugo Lloris to give Spurs a 5-4 win on aggregate.

This is what Frank had to say:

“We were dominant and we want to score more goals at that point because of the amount of possession. Couple of good chances, Callum had a good chance at the end of the first half.

Tottenham will have felt that hard and they changed their game to go longer in their build which meant that our fantastic press in the first half wasn’t as relevant up the pitch.

“They turned us round and made us run backwards, rather than pressing forwards and that becomes really difficult to be fair to the lads. We could have been better on the ball in the second half, maybe dealt with the physical nature of the Spurs game but it slightly changed the case of the game.

“They had chances in the second half but so did we. At 1-0, the second goal finishes it for us and we didn’t get that.”

Antonio Rudiger in talks with Thomas Tuchel to secure Chelsea exit

Antonio Rudiger in talks with Thomas Tuchel to secure Chelsea exit

Antonio Rudiger is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.

The German defender did not make an appearance for the Blues this season and his latest omission came in the Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

He is being further pushed down the pecking order following the arrival of Thiago Silva from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 27-year old is linked with a move with a few of the English clubs notably West Ham and Tottenham as Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for a new defender.

According to RMC Sports, Tuchel is pushing for a move for the German defender and both parties have had several conversations in the last few weeks.

When asked about a potential move for Rudiger, Tuchel replied: ‘I can only say that the club knows my opinion.

‘They know my analysis and that of my staff. I wait. The transfer window is not over.

‘The situation is not easy, but we still have a little bit of time.’

When asked Rudiger’s possible departure, Lampard said: ‘I wouldn’t assume anything.

‘And I wouldn’t assume Antonio or any players in the squad [are leaving].’
