Timo Werner has praised his national team and club teammate Kai Havertz.

The German duo signed for Chelsea this summer and both have gotten off to exciting starts to their Chelsea careers.

‘I know Kai very well and he is one of the most talented players in the whole world,’ added Werner. ‘He is a young boy, just 21 years old, and he can learn a lot but he already plays like a much older player.

‘We talk a lot about settling in and he’s very happy to be here. In a lot of games, he has shown his strengths and what he can bring to the team. For Kai, it’s very important to score but you can see in his game more than just goals – key passes and the movement he makes for other players. He is very talented and he will get better and better every game.’

Werner also spoke about the hectic schedule at Chelsea.

‘Of course, some days I’m tired because of the amount of games I’ve played but I did it last year as well and these days it’s normal to play so many games,’ he continued.

‘Every player needs a rest sometimes but it’s good to play every game so it’s no problem for me. Every team that plays in Europe has a game every three days so it’s not only us. It’s difficult but we have a big squad with so many good players.’

Frank Lampard has praised Chelsea’s new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and has backed the player to push his boundaries at the Bridge.

“It’s about the collective, but he has made a very good start to his career with us,” Lampard said at his pre-match press conference. “He has shown his qualities and brought confidence to those around him.

“When we were in to sign him, Petr Cech was heavily involved. All the feedback, was that he had a great personality in the dressing room, and everything I heard has come true.

“He is very low maintenance, he works hard and he is eager to engage with his teammates. He has smile on his face and it’s a real positive when a player hits the ground running on the pitch, but is a pleasure in the dressing room too. I’m sure there is more to come and I think he can go much further.”

“What I have seen is that he has a massive work ethic to push himself. He has shown that and smiled every day. He has asked relevant questions and engaged with the players around him. I have just sensed that with him. He seems pretty laid back.”

Frank Lampard delivers a positive update on Christian Pulisic injury.

Frank Lampard reveals that Pulisic’s hamstring injury is not serious but is expected to miss Wednesday’s match against Stade Rennais.

“Christian had a scan yesterday, which showed a very minor injury to his hamstring,” Lampard said in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

“It’s very minor, which is good, and he’s already back outside. He won’t be fit for tomorrow’s game but we will see after that.

“It’s a relief for the injury to be on the small side, of course, and it felt that way to Christian. He made the right decision to pull out against Burnley.

“We are pleased it’s not a serious injury and we hope to have him back very soon, because he’s an important player for us.”

“Muscle injuries are things you have to be careful with and some players who play on the edge and have speed could be more susceptible to them,” said the manager.

“We are looking at ways to manage Christian, we are all working in the same direction on that front. We all know the talent he has and he’s a very important player for us.”

Chilwell: Squad depth pushing us all

Ben Chilwell has talked about the tremendous squad depth at Chelsea.

Chelsea had to make a late change on Saturday as Christian Pulisic pulled out before the match and Timo Werner was asked to step in at the last moment.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Chilwell said: “Unfortunately, Christian (Pulisic) got injured in the warm-up and we are all disappointed for him, but when you’ve got Timo to come in it’s a positive and shows what strength in depth we have.

“That competition pushes us all, and it’s one of the key components to a good squad. We have a lot of good players, two or three in each position who are fighting for the shirt. That will help push us forward.

“It was a tough match. We knew that if we came not ready for a fight we could get bullied. That’s what they want, to make it difficult. But we came ready for the fight and also played our style of football, which is important, and we got another clean sheet and three good goals.

“Everyone put a shift in. We looked clinical in front of goal and solid as a defensive unit again.”

Gary Neville Tells Lampard How To Get Kante To Stay At Chelsea

Gary Neville Tells Lampard How To Get Kante To Stay At Chelsea

Gary Neville has slipped some advice to get N’Golo Kante to stay back at Stamford Bridge.

The 29 year old midfielder was speculated to secure a move away from Chelsea during the summer transfer window. However, since it didn’t work out, Gary Neville has urged Lampard to keep the midfielder at Chelsea.

“Kante playing in that holding position in a three in midfield, it’s where we always thought he should play,” Neville said during an appearance on Sky Sports.

“It’s a modern phenomenon to play a player in that position who is good on the ball. We’ve seen Xavi and Pirlo do it.

“But when you think of Fabinho, Fernandinho or Kante, that’s the classic player in that position.

“They read the danger, they break up attacks and they are a centre-backs’ dream.

“Playing Kante there would seem to be the logical conclusion in keeping him at the club.”

Many were taken aback when rumours of him leaving Chelsea in the summer surfaced.

He added: “When I saw reports over the summer that Jorginho was going to leave, I wasn’t surprised.

“When I saw reports over the summer that Kante might leave, I was shocked.

“I thought, ‘Frank, he is not a player you want to lose’.

“He is a unique player and every player in that squad must love him. He does that job brilliantly.”

Petr Cech convinced Edouard Mendy will keep getting better at Chelsea.

Edouard Mendy made a move to Chelsea from Rennes in a £22 million deal and has quickly secured the role of the first-choice goalkeeper replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga.

So far, Mendy has secured five clean sheets in a row for the Blues.

Petr Cech’s recommendation of Mendy proved to be really beneficial for the Blues as he had an impressive start at Stamford Bridge.

‘We had to make sure it was someone everyone agreed on, not just me,’ Cech told Telefoot.

‘It had to be the club, and especially the manager, who had to be comfortable with the choice. We had a list of goalkeepers.

‘We presented it all to Frank Lampard. We spoke with the scouts, we shared information. We gave the pros and cons of each goalkeeper.

‘In the end, my knowledge of Edouard over the last three years helped.

‘I think he’s a goalkeeper who can still improve, with his work, professionalism and desire to be better every day.

‘I’m convinced he’ll improve more, and these aren’t the best performances you’ll see from Edouard Mendy.’

What Might 2021 Have in Store for Chelsea?

What Might 2021 Have in Store for Chelsea?
Bildbyran

Chelsea is without a doubt one of the most well-known English football clubs and as a result, it enjoys a truly massive fan base.

Unfortunately, this team has faced a rocky and uncertain season thanks in no small part to the current global health situation. While some will view 2020 as all but a complete write-off, others are beginning to look ahead in order to better appreciate what 2021 may have in store. What predictions can we make well in advance and what are the chances that Chelsea walks away with a Premiere League title? Each of these questions deserves to be examined in greater detail.

What Might 2021 Have in Store for Chelsea?

A Look Ahead: The Best and Worst Players of 2021

We are already aware that Chelsea brings much to the pitch in terms of its roster. There are nonetheless some names who seem to dominate the game while others might be better left on the bench. The majority of analysts feel that Mason Mount should remain at the top of his game throughout 2021. As he continues to enjoy the momentum of his debut, there is no reason why her previous levels of performance will not be exhibited in the near future.

However, it is difficult to see how Hakim Ziyech will have any real impact in the coming season. This is particularly the case when we recall that he is likely to be overshadowed by other players such as Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. Although we are definitely not writing him off by any means, his 2021 future does not look entirely promising. This is why it is always a good idea to check out the odds here as the upcoming season draws nearer.

What About a Premier League Title?

This question represents the big “if” throughout 2021. Some feel that Chelsea does indeed have what it takes to walk away champions. It is still critical to remember that other formidable clubs such as Manchester City and Liverpool are not going away any time soon. The majority of analysts feel that the gap between Chelsea and these organisations is simply too wide to overcome within a single season. However, this does not necessarily signify that Chelsea is destined for the doldrums. It is still perfectly reasonable to predict that Chelsea will finish within the top three.

In the same respect, a Champions League title could be well within their reach thanks to such a dynamic and cohesive squad. This will once again depend upon the performance of individual players as well as how management adapts to a changing landscape. We should also keep in mind that the 2021 season could still be hampered by health restrictions, so there are really no certainties in this day and age.

Either way, Chelsea has what it takes to go far in 2021 and beyond. Thanks to an influx of younger players and a host of talent, fans should not be disappointed with what 2021 has in store. Let’s just hope that there is an actual season to enjoy.

Hakim Ziyech bagged his second man of the match in as many starts for Chelsea on Saturday.

The Moroccan missed the beginning of the season with some injuries but has started the last two matches. In that time, he has scored two goals and assisted one and it has been perfect this week for Ziyech.

“Life at Chelsea is good, I am where I am supposed to be,” Ziyech told the club’s website.

“I feel good and feel at home and everything is fine.”

The former Ajax winger is expected to lead the young pack of attackers at Chelsea being the most experienced winger of the lot.  Ziyech was lauded by manager Frank Lampard after the win at Turf Moor.

Asked about Lampard’s comments, the playmaker added: “It is one of the most important things, that you play with confidence and don’t be scared of making mistakes.”

Chelsea have looked solid of late keeping five clean sheets in their last six matches. Their new recruits have not only gelled well in attack with Werner and Havertz scoring 9 and assisting 6 combined in 10 matches but in defence as well with Silva, Chilwell and Mendy yet to concede a goal everytime they have started a match together.

Cole tips Lampard to make a run at Premier League title

Cole tips Lampard to make a run at Premier League title

Joe Cole has tipped Frank Lampard to go for the Premier League title this season.

The former Chelsea player and current BT Sport pundit has tipped his former club and country team-mate and current Chelsea manager to try and win the Premier League this season itself.

Chelsea have not made the most impressive of start but their new look team studded with stars are coming together at the Bridge and Cole expects Chelsea to only take off from here.

“It was an exceptional performance and it’s been a steady improvement,” Cole said on BT Sport after Chelsea thrashed Burnley 3-0 at Turf Moor.

“Now it looks like Chelsea can make a run of it. It’s been a long time since Chelsea have looked as comfortable defending. Mendy didn’t have a shot to save.

“It’s good times for the club at the moment and it’s just about consistency. You look at the fixture list and there’s winnable games to come.

“By Christmas time Chelsea could be right up there. It’s game on.

“I think there are three or four clubs who can go for the title and Chelsea are certainly one of them.”

Former Chelsea legend slams new signing Kai Havertz

Former Chelsea legend slams new signing Kai Havertz

Chelsea summer signing Kai Havertz criticised by former Blues hero Frank Leboeuf.

Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf lauded the squad’s defensive efforts against Burnley and was very pleased with Hakim Ziyech’s debut performance.

But German playmaker Kai Havertz who joined from Bayer Leverkusen this summer failed to make an impression on the former Blues centre-back.

“I think it’s getting better, some players are getting better,” Leboeuf said.

I’m very pleased for Ziyech, getting fit and giving his best.

“But I’m still not convinced about Havertz, I still want more from him.

“I want more impact from him where I think he disappears.

“I’m sure Frank is still not completely happy with the way they worked together.

“Sometimes it seemed like they were looking for each other like they don’t really know each other.

“I’m looking for something better, much better from Chelsea.

“With the players they have, they’re capable of giving much more than we saw today.

“Even though they got the win, the clean sheet, everything was going their way, but I can’t be happy with the performance 100 per-cent.”
