According to the latest reports, Chelsea are preparing to send Kepa Arrizabalaga out on loan.
Not even days after the arrival of Edouard Mendy to Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard is ready to see the back of his number one custodian.
Kepa very quickly plummeted down the manager’s books last season and recent performances explain why. Not only is his confidence shot, the Spaniard seems to have no shot at making the squad for the entirety of this season.
Chelsea cannot exactly sell him either due to his mammoth-sized contract and transfer value of £71m. No club will be ready to pay that high for a keeper in such poor form. However, a loan deal is possible with plenty of clubs looking for temporary deals.
Possibly some time away from West London might even do him some good. He will be stripped off all the expectations and allowed to work his way from the regular errors in goal. If he manages to regain his form which made Chelsea buy him in the first place, he could still become their first choice in the coming years.
But right now, a move away seems like the best option. Kepa is still only 25 years old and has a long career ahead of him.
