Chelsea legend and technical director Petr Cech is working with the Chelsea goalkeepers.

Chelsea’s goalkeeper position has been under the spotlight for many months and the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, has been under scrutiny for a while now.

The Blues acquired Rennes goalkeeper Édouard Mendy for £22m on a five-year deal.

Chelsea conceded 54 goals last season, the worst record among the top ten teams.

Frank Lampard revealed that Petr Cech is working closely with the goalkeepers and wants them to learn from the club’s former No.1 shot-stopper.

“Obviously his daily job as we know here now is to be a technical advisor and he has been a great help to me on that front, and that’s been brilliant for me being back at the club to have that,” Lampard said.

“Where we have had restart and times where we are playing where there is a lot fragility, having Petr train with the goalkeepers and bring his experience is a great thing. He still has great quality. I think he retired pretty young.

“He’s training and keeping fit, which I think is healthy for him and the goalkeepers in the squad. I think it’s as far as it goes.

“I’ve got absolutely no problem with it. It’s something that’s really positive for the goalkeepers and Petr enjoys doing it. Why not get back and give that experience to the goalkeepers?

“Petr has his job but he’s also at times helping with the goalkeepers. Why would you not tap into having the best goalkeeper in the world, which he was for a long time, to pass on that knowledge?”
