N’Golo Kante suggested he wants to stay at Chelsea beyond the summer.

The French midfielder has been one of the most influential players over the last several seasons winning the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup at Stamford Bridge.

Kante arrived in the summer of 2016 from Leicester City and his contract will expire this summer.

He suffered a hamstring injury last August and has returned to action last month.

Despite interest from Barcelona, the 32-year-old midfielder is expected to sign a contract renewal and play a part in the club’s new project under potential manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Kante himself has emphasised his desire to extend his Chelsea contract this summer.

“It was the purpose of the surgery, to come back strong,” Kante told Sky Sports.

“At the moment I feel good, hopefully it’ll carry on like this. For the last few weeks I’ve been playing I’ve felt very good.

“I hope I will carry on for the rest of the season and hopefully the most difficult part is behind me, and I’m able to forget it – enjoying football again, enjoying wins again. and enjoying hopefully more success.”
