Ben Chilwell insists he is recovering well from injury after signing a five-year contract with the Blues.

The England international joined Chelsea from Leicester City in a deal worth £50 million, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

The 23-year old left-back has been Frank Lampard’s top target this summer and came through Leicester’s youth academy to become a key player for the senior team.

He made 123 appearances for the Foxes and was instrumental in their Premier League triumph back in 2016.

“I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club,” Chilwell told the club’s website.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honours next season.

“I can’t wait to get started and hopefully it won’t be long before we’re playing in front of the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge.”

The new season of the Premier League is just two weeks away and Chilwell offered an update on his recovery from injury.

‘I’m feeling really good,’ Chilwell told the club website.

‘The injury is healing really well and I’ve been doing a lot of fitness work over the past four or five weeks.’

Chilwell is Chelsea’s third major signing for this summer who had already landed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.

Thiago Silva is also close to joining Chelsea following his departure from Paris Saint Germain and the Brazilian is expected to complete his medical in the following days.

The Blues have also agreed terms with Bayer Leverkusen over the signing of forward Kai Havertz and the move will be sanctioned very soon.
