According to the Ballon d’Or reports and rankings, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Chelsea’s goalkeeper, has come to be placed among the top 10 goalkeepers.
London saw him off to a strong start in the beginning of the year, once he has transferred from Athletic Bilbao previous season. His goalkeeping skills contribute to saving some integral almost-goals – mainly in the Europa league. To help Chelsea see through the match in the semi-final, he made an indispensible penalty save.
When it comes to this season though, his performance hasn’t been quite up to the mark. That’s precisely why it’s rather bizarre to see Chelsea goalkeeper’s name among the top 10 goalkeepers in the Ballon d’Or list, especially since a number of supporters aren’t exactly in the mood for supporting him anymore. Chelsea fans talk about his bad form and putting pressure for his exit from the team.
But the fact of the matter here is that there are several players out there who need just a little more training and a boost of assertiveness to pick up their pace. Kepa is a world class player indeed. Yes, he might have slipped up this season, but that doesn’t mean he must be dropped. With the correct training and positive outlook, Kepa can truly own the honour of being one of the world’s best goalkeepers.
