Chelsea is on the verge of locking Joao Felix at Stamford Bridge on loan. During this development, Atletico Madrid wants to extend his contract at the club before loaning him to the Blues.

Los Rojiblancos have done talks with the Premier League club over a potential January deal for the Portuguese international.

Chelsea faced a tough task with their rivals clubs Arsenal and Manchester United but the Blues had the final laugh.

The Athletic’s transfer expert David Ornstein claims Chelsea and Atletico have a verbal agreement in place, with talks almost completed.

The 23-year-old will see his contract expiring in the Spanish capital in 2026. As per the reports from Marca, Atletico want to extend his contract to one more year, before signing off a loan switch.

Atletico are looking to release a hefty wage from their salary bill in the second half of the campaign, to potentially allow the Portuguese international to rediscover his best, without losing him permanently.
