In the ongoing transfer window, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have verbally agreed that Joao Felix will be loaned out to Chelsea

The 23-year-transfer old’s to the Premier League had received significant attention, with Arsenal and Manchester United mentioned as possible destinations. However, they had recoiled at Atletico’s demands for a €15 million loan fee.

And Chelsea has moved quickly to reach a verbal agreement with Los Rojiblancos on a loan deal for the Portuguese forward. Ornstein reported that although a deal has not yet been finalised, it has been agreed that Chelsea will pay Atletico Madrid a loan fee of €11 million in exchange for the signing of Felix.

Atletico’s initial demand for the price will be slightly reduced, but they appear to have come to an agreement. Felix, as previously mentioned, was also under consideration by Manchester United and Arsenal, but he decided to sign with Chelsea instead, reportedly drawn to the club’s athletic endeavours.

In addition to the €11 million purchase price, the Blues must pay him the full €6 million salary for the remaining portion of the season. Although more information is awaited, the story makes no mention of a purchasing option.

Felix moved to Atletico in 2019 from SL Benfica in a €126 million club record transaction, but he hasn’t quite lived up to his potential. At the FIFA World Cup, the 23-year-old played well for Portugal, and he will now try to jumpstart his career at Chelsea.
