Antonio Rudiger discussing with Chelsea over his future

Antonio Rudiger has resurrected his career since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel arrived at Chelsea in January replacing Frank Lampard as the manager.

Rudiger had a falling out with Frank Lampard and played only five games before Tuchel’s arrival.

He was tipped to leave Stamford Bridge in January but the arrival of his fellow countryman gave him a new lease of life.

Since then he has been irreplaceable at Chelsea’s defence taking the club to the FA Cup and Champions League finals.

Earlier this month Tuchel said: “Nothing is better than what he is doing for a new contract. If he wants to have a new contract he has our full support to stay at the club.

“He is speaking with his performances. He has been amazing since day one.”

Rudiger responded to his manager’s comments by telling Kicker: “That’s nice and I’m happy too.

“You always make your decisions to some extent dependent on the coaching staff, but in the long term you can never rely on them anyway.

“After the European Championships, we can talk.”
