AC Milan vice-president, Franco Baresi has confirmed his plans to buy Fikayo Tomori this summer.
Chelsea have currently loaned out their academy product with an option for them to buy him at £27m.
That is a decent bit of return for a player who featured sporadically under Frank Lampard last season. Tomori burst onto the scenes pretty well but he failed to keep that upwards momentum going at Stamford Bridge. Of course, an injury and several senior stars ahead of him in the pecking order did not help.
Good news is he has hit the ground running in the Serie A. Tomori has made 12 appearances for Milan so far. Baressi told Gazzetta dello Sport, “We will do everything possible to sign him on a permanent deal.
“Two months are remaining until the end of the season, and it’s not only up to Milan.
“Tomori is imposing himself with talent and determination. He has shown no fear playing in a new league. He can potentially become a great champion. I hope he lives up to expectations.”
Chelsea have plenty of options at centre-back, majority of whom are doing well under Thomas Tuchel. Unless newer faces are brought in, it is likely that the current bunch will remain for the next campaign.
