Chelsea among the clubs interested in signing Juventus star

Maurizio Sarri has personally requested Blues to move for him

Chelsea are expected to overhaul their side this summer after an underwhelming Premier League and Champions League campaign last season. They finished 5th in the league and will miss the Champions League in the upcoming season.

The Blues have appointed Maurizio Sarri as their new manager last week after sacking Antonio Conte and also completed the signing of midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, the club’s first summer signing.

They have been behind in the transfer window in comparison to other Premiere League clubs but with the arrival of the Italian midfielder it is believed that it will finally kickstart their transfer plans.

Despite signing the Italy International, Sarri has identified midfield as the area he wants to improve. The English side particularly struggled in that area last season as the midfielders barring N’Golo Kante struggled to make an impact.

The 59 year old has personally requested the Premier League giants to move for Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic. They are already linked with a move for two of their players, Gonzalo Higuain and Daniele Rugani.

The Bosnia International joined the Turin side from Roma on a five-year contract for a fee of €32 million in 2016. He has been a mainstay in the midfield since then and is considered one the best midfielders in the world.

The 28 year old featured regularly for the Italian side last season, scoring 7 goals and assisting 9 in 45 appearances in all competitions and helped the club win their 7th consecutive Serie A titles.

Speculation over his future has emerged in recent days after a meeting between the player and his new agent Fali Ramadani.

Ramadani has worked closely with the London club this summer having helped broker the deal that saw them prise the Italian manager from Napoli and has also been involved in the club’s negotiations over the signings of Rugani and Higuain.

It is believed that the club have initial talks with the player’s agent and the Seria A giants will listen to offers starting at £72 million.

Though Chelsea faces competition from Manchester City and Barcelona for the signing of Pjanic according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
