Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is ‘unhappy’ and could be looking for a move away from the club

Since joining from Inter Milan last summer, the Belgian striker has battled to justify his £97.5 million price tag. At the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, the 28-year-old formed a lethal partnership with striker partner Lautaro Martinez, guiding the Nerazzurri to their first Scudetto in 11 years.

Before joining the Blues last summer, the former Manchester United striker had a wealth of Premier League experience. After a promising start to his second term at Chelsea, the Belgian international has yet to establish himself as a regular starter.

In recent games, versatile striker Kai Havertz has played as a centre-forward, and his ability to find pockets of space and affect the play means that Thomas Tuchel has given him the nod ahead of Lukaku.

Despite his previous problems, the former Everton player scored in their recent FA Cup victory against Middlesbrough. He scored in the 15th minute and Hakim Ziyceh extended the advantage in the 31st minute at the Riverside stadium, advancing the Blues to the competition’s semi-finals, where they will face Crystal Palace.

Having said that, if the player is moved out, the club may still cut their losses and save a large amount of money on the pay bill. If the striker is actually unhappy at the club, there may not be many better choices than letting him go.

However, this does not imply that the club should incur a significant loss in doing so. Chelsea spent a high price for him, and the club would be prudent to recuperate the majority of it if they chose to sell him in the near future.
