Chelsea earned themselves a first-leg lead after beating Lille 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League last 16

Chelsea held their own and won 2-0 over LOSC Lille in their most recent UEFA Champions League match. The Blues took the lead early on thanks to an early header by Kai Havertz, who filled in for Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.

The French club was able to re-enter the game and maintain their position effectively, but they were unable to worry Edouard Mendy in goal on the night. Renato Sanchez was a problem for Chelsea throughout the game, picking up balls in tight situations and being the focal point on the majority of offensive efforts.

“It was hard work to not allow chances, they are a strong team, we were up and down with good and weaker moments but we never gave big chances away. We were solid, hard team work and a tough game but a deserved win.” Said Thomas Tuchel
