Tuchel not expecting any new signings in January

Thomas Tuchel is not demanding new signings right away after taking over at Chelsea.

After a summer of heavy spendings, the Blues hierarchy will likely wait before handing Tuchel an entirely new treasure chest.

When asked about any potential arrivals, Tuchel replied, “It is hard for me to judge right now. We have now one game and two training sessions and I am very happy with what I see so far, the performance, the attitude and the talent and potential

“I think the squad is not too big. N’Golo Kante came back today so we have 22 players plus the goalkeepers for our programme in the three competitions. Absolutely not too much.

“I have the feeling right now that the guys deserve to be trusted and I want to trust everybody. If a possibility comes along that we all agree on making us stronger right away, okay, we will not hesitate I’m sure, but it’s not like we have the absolute need to do something.”

Chelsea spent upwards of £200m on new signings last summer. They brought in six players – Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy.
