Thiago Silva was sent off which resulted in Chelsea’s 5-2 defeat against West Brom.

Thomas Tuchel tasted his first defeat against West Brom since taking over as the manager in January.

Thiago Silva who made his return after being out for two months with an injury was sent off 29 minutes into his Chelsea comeback.

Silva made a horrific challenge on Okay Yokuslu and was immediately given the marching orders by the referee.

‘Lessons need to be learned from difficult days, so that the next day is the beginning of a new beginning,’ the 36-year-old veteran wrote on Instagram.

‘I believe it was not an expulsion move, I haven’t seen the video yet, but the referee made his decision and we can’t change what happened.

‘I assume my responsibility for the expulsion, which unfortunately directly affected the result of the game.

‘Now we have to join our forces because Wednesday it will be another battle. Come on Chelsea.’
