Joe Cole blames Jorginho and Marcos Alonso for their poor performance in West Brom defeat.

Thomas Tuchel tasted his first defeat in the Premier League with the Blues having gone 14 matches without defeat prior to this fixture.

After Thiago Silva picked up a second yellow card, the Blues went on to concede five goals.

Former Blues player Joe Cole picked out Jorginho and Alonso as players who were notably substandard.

‘The first 20 or 30 minutes there were sloppy passes, we’ve not seen that under the Tuchel reign so far,’ Cole told BT Sport.

‘Jorginho is usually so assured with the ball, aware of what’s going on around him. He gave the ball away more than I’ve ever seen him today.

‘Alonso wasn’t on it, on the front foot, we’ve seen him play very very well in recent weeks.’

‘It was a mindset and it’s a lesson for the manager,’ Cole continued.

‘We can’t be too harsh on him because he’s been faultless so far, but this is a lesson that the Premier League is unforgiving.

‘No matter who you play against you’ve got to be 100% or you won’t win.’
