Sarri compared to Guardiola: Did Chelsea get it wrong?

Italian legend Arrigo Sacchi has heaped praise on new Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri.

The Italian coach who took over at Juve last week has had a fairy tale journey in football.

Sarri was never a professional player and a banker who joined the game in coaching in his late 30s. He managed lower league clubs in non-professional and semi-pro levels for decades before managing a competitive job.

The career path kept rising as he took over at Napoli and led the Naples side to a strong finish and invented his own philosophy of football. He then joined the English league where in his debut season he got Chelsea to the third place, reached the final of the League Cup and won the Europa League to boot.

“Sarri is of the same level as [Jurgen] Klopp, Guardiola, [Mauricio] Pochettino,” Sacchi said on Monday. “They have the same vision of work.”

Speaking about Guardiola’s link with joining Juve,”He sent me a message. I heard that with Guardiola to Juve there was never anything,” he said. “He is very happy where he is. This season he will try to win the Champions League.”

Will Chelsea regret his departure?
