Ruben Loftus-Cheek plans to quit Chelsea this summer

He wants to leave to further his career

Roben Loftus-Cheek came through the ranks of Chelsea and made his senior debut for the club in 2014. The classy midfielder is held in high regard by those in west London.

But the 22 year old couldn’t establish himself as a regular for the Blues at the path was blocked by big money signings. He made just 32 appearances for the club before joining Crystal Palace on a season long loan last summer in order to get more first team football.

Despite struggling with injuries, the midfielder was impressive with his performances for the Eagles and scored two goals and assisted three in 24 appearances. He has shown what he is capable of when given regular game time, with senior international recognition coming his way with England.

The England International will return to Stamford Bridge after the World Cup in Russia is over but his future is still uncertain. It was believed that he will make a decision whether he will stay at the club or leave once he returns.

Loftus-Cheek has decided he must leave Chelsea if he is to further his career, reports the Daily Star .

He has previously claimed he needs to play to grow, and is frustrated by his lack of playing time under Antonio Conte. He has decided to depart even if the Italian is fired, and hopes the opportunity provided by his showings for England at the World Cup increase his market.

The player admitted playing every week when on loan at Palace last season made him realise he cannot stagnate by not playing regularly.

He said: “I want to play. I want to play as much as I can.

“And even this past season just gone I didn’t play as much as I would have liked to because of the injuries and stuff.

“So I still feel I need a proper season of playing – wherever it is”.
