Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Michy Batshuayi has cooled
Chelsea signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid for a record transfer fee of £60 million last summer, to fill the sizable boots of Diego Costa who left them to join his former club Atletico Madrid.
Despite a dazzling start in England, with eight goals in his first seven games, the 25 year old struggled to find his feet in the Premier League last season. He also struggled with mysterious back injury which kept him sidelined for a long period.
The Spain International just scored 15 goals 47 appearances in all competitions during the 2017-18 campaign, with 11 of them coming in the Premier League. He even missed out on Spain’s World Cup squad due to his underwhelming debut season in the Premier League.
His future is uncertain and has been heavily linked with a summer exit with numerous clubs showing interest in him. The Blues have also been linked with a move for strikers like Robert Lewandowski and Mauro Icardi in the summer which puts more question marks over his future.
Alvaro Morata has emerged as a target for Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to German newspaper Bild. They have made the Spaniard a top priority to spearhead their forward line next season and are monitoring his situation ahead of a potential move.
The German side were also targeting another Chelsea player. Michy Batshuayi enjoyed a successful loan spell with them after they signed him in January for the rest of the season to replace the departing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
They were very keen to make the deal permanent but the Premier League giants believes he still has a future with them. They have cooled their interest in the Belgian and have turned their attention towards the former Juventus ace.
His price tag may prove a stumbling block, though. The Club would want to recoup the £60 million they paid for him last summer if they decide to sell him.
