Olivier Giroud has been offered to Real Madrid this month, as per reports.
Defensa Central (via Football London) understands that the Frenchman’s representative is working hard to get him a move out of Chelsea.
A lack of playing time has once again dug deep into his future opportunities. Unless Giroud proves himself, it could seriously hinder his position for the European Championship this year.
The constant pressure from Didier Deschamps keeps Giroud on his toes to perform every time he steps onto the pitch. But under Frank Lampard, he hardly ever gets to play at all. Timo Werner is the first choice with Giroud switching with Tammy Abraham on a rotational basis.
This is not ideal for a player who is in his twilight years in football. Giroud’s naturaly ability of holding up play and bringing a physical presence into the opposition box is still there. In fact, he keeps better at it with age. Real could use a player like him in key situations.
Zinedine Zidane has loaned out Luka Jovic back to Hoffenheim and now, he only has Mariano Diaz as a backup. He is simply not good enough and a proper replacement is necessary. Giroud will add depth, dexterity and plenty of experience if he does sign for the Galacticos. Chelsea, on the other hand, will lose a solid option from their bench.
