Maurizio Sarri reportedly had a meeting with his players at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.
Sarri had a go at his players following the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday. The Italian manager surprisingly brought a translator to his post match press conference and blamed his players for not showing the intent against the Gunners.
This was the first time Sarri spoke in Italian as the former Napoli manager is pretty fluent in English and usually gives his interviews in English only.
Chelsea’s loss means both Manchester United and Arsenal are now just three points behind them and could capitalise on their mistakes from now on.
There have been concerns over Sarri’s strategy as the manager has used N’Golo Kante in a more attacking role while Eden Hazard has been deployed in a more centrally false nine role.
The likes of David Luiz have already voiced his support for the manager and as things stand the Italian does have unity amongst his squad. Also, the imminent signing of Gonzalo Higuain is likely to provide some leverage as the Argentine striker has a great bonding with his Napoli manager and shares a great rapport with him.
Higuain’s arrival will also see Alvaro Morata departing for a new destination which is rumoured to be Atletico Madrid.
