Levi Colwill can be one of the greatest defenders in England.

This is according to Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino who has impressed in his pre-season game against Brighton on Saturday.

The young defender spent the last season on loan at Brighton and was highly rated for his contribution to the Seagulls.

He is expected to develop into a world-class defender and be a key player for both his club and country.

Colwill hopes for regular game time at Stamford Bridge amidst links from rivals Liverpool this summer.

With Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile both injured, Colwill is expected to start alongside veteran Thiago Silva in the upcoming campaign.

Manager Pochettino assures fans that he won’t consider selling the young defender this summer.

He said: “He is going to continue with us.

“I am happy with him, his performance was good today, better than what I expected because it is only the first game with us after the season with Brighton. I am so happy, he can be one of the greatest centre-backs in England.”
