Conor Gallagher’s future has been the subject of great speculation over the last few days.
The Blues have rejected an offer of £40million from West Ham for the 23-year-old midfielder and was expected to depart this summer.
But manager Mauricio Pochettino insisted that Gallagher is still a part of his midfield plans and will continue his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea need some midfield reinforcements after N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic all left the club this summer.
They are heavily linked with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo who are demanding £100m for the young midfielder.
But Pochettino was a little unconvincing when asked about the player’s future.
He said: “I was talking with him the first day that he arrived [and said] that he’s in our plans.
“In football, anything can happen. Now I am happy with him and his performance there are still two years on his contract.
“I’m happy with him and his performance. At the moment there’s nothing to say.”
